Hotel Modern is located between the French Quarter and the Garden District and situated right on Lee Circle and one block from the National World War II museum. It is also on the St. Charles streetcar line (only $1.25 one way). The staff is extremely nice and the price, especially during the week, is quite reasonable. The hotel offers a... More

Stayed for 3 nights after a cruise, hotel located next to the trolley car stop and gave easy access to the French Quarter & Bourbon Street. It was also just round the corner from the excellent WW2 museum. Room was slightly on the small side but was comfortable and clean, with coffee making facility. There is a complimentary continental breakfast... More

During my wife's and my stay at the hotel Modern, the staff were very accommodating. First of al the hotel is centrally located to any where a person with varying interests wanted to experience. Everyone from the desk personnel, and conserige were on point to let us know where to go visit the many historic places to in NOLA. The... More

Hotel Modern was on a nice spot on a traffic circle on Saint Charles, only a few walking blocks from Canal St, and French Quarter. You can park on the circle for 20 minutes but then have to move your car to the back lot which is $25 but easily accessible to the hotel through the courtyard. I liked the... More

The location of the hotel is great - New Orleans is generally walkable, but from here I was able to walk to the French Quarter, downtown, the convention center, and the nearby Arts district with ease. The room was clean and quiet, but if you are looking for spacious accommodations, at least the room I had was tiny. It was... More

Location is not as as close to attractions. Parking is expensive $30 a day so it can add up if you stay three or more days. Continental breakfast was good and hotel personal were very professional and friendly.

Pictures online were very deceiving. The hotel honestly looks nothing like this even the check in desk. This all needs to be updated by the hotel. We had the double room it was tiny. Our blinds were literally falling and barely hanging on the wall. Our room was very unwelcoming it wasn't decorated to make it feel any more comfortable.... More

Stayed here in October 2016 for 4 nights to attend a conference. The location was great within 15 minutes walk of the Convention center, French Quarters and Bourbon St. The St Charles street car stop is just over the corner. Very accessible location by public transportation. I bought the daily pass and used buses & street cars as many times... More

Visited recently as I was in town for an ems convention. The hotel was in the list provided by the convention center, and was paid by third party. First, the hotel location had pros and cons. The pros being that it is located one block from the WWII Museum and right on the street car line for a quick yep... More

Came to New Orleans for a conference, the Hotel Modern was one of the conference hotels, the only reason it was picked. It's a renovated warehouse in the warehouse district, supposed to be modeled after a hotel in France. The guest rooms are small and choppy! Difficult to find your way to your room, our room was actually in a... More

Staying in Arts District / Warehouse District

Neighbourhood Profile
Arts District / Warehouse District
Once a thriving industrial zone, today this district is home to a buzzing arts scene with an amazing assortment of galleries, boutiques, and studios having moved in and set up shop throughout the disused warehouses for which the area is so well known. Much of the art you'll come across here is local in scope, ownership and inspiration. However, among the many old brick warehouses are modern structures of steel and glass housing large-scale cultural institutions of national prominence such as the National World War II Museum, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Just as eye catching as what’s on view inside the galleries and museums is the chance to see your ship come in at the Julia Street Cruise Terminal, which serves as a wistful reminder of the city’s historic maritime prominence.
