The lighting was poor in our rooms. The water pressure was low and the temperature of water was not easily controlled. The beds had springs that were broken. The mattresses were so uncomfortable. The room temperature was also hard to gage.

I came for Mardi Gras, and watched parades from the street in front of the hotel. There was a small difficulty getting to the hotel by cab during the parades when the streets were shut down. But I got within a block or two. My friends had hotels in the French Quarter, so we were often on two different sides...

Thank you for your glowing review of the Whitney Hotel in New Orleans. We're so happy to hear you enjoyed your visit. I'm sorry to hear about the difficulty in getting a cab due to the streets being closed for the parades but thankfully they got you as close to the Hotel as they possibly could, given that the parades...

Good location - just outside of the French Quarter - hotel needs updating but ticks the basic boxes. Keep your expectations modest - onsite dining is almost nil (which being in New Orleans isn't such a big deal)

Hotel valet is awful. They were sitting there hiding and smoking cigarettes upon arrival. Did not even offer to assist with luggage. When the car come back for checking out, it looked like it had been on a joyride. Everything in the trunk was slung all over, and the radio was still on some crap rap music they had been...

This hotel is perfect for Mardi Gras as it's on the parade route. They are really a well oiled machine during Mardi Gras time and took great care of us as guests (and our possessions) with excellent security. The hotel is beautiful and historic, but also spotless. The only compromise we made for the convenience of being on a main...

The lobby is gorgeous. Old bank, big vault. I like that stuff. But the room was old and worn and the wallpaper was peeling off like it too was about to check out after one too many hard nights on Bourbon Street. The furniture needs upgrading to prevent the guests, like me, from guessing how many hundreds of people have...

We enjoy the Whitney Hotel because it has old world charm and the best staff. Earl and Jason are real professionals who are there to help make your visit a pleasure. Location is two quiet blocks from the French Quarter. They know everything about the city of New Orleans. We had a comfortable and fun vacation.

all was good, Great location for all attractions. Really appreciated the quite atmosphere after a long day of Mardi Gras activity. The staff were AWSOME !!! gave easy directions to help get around Parade detours. Look forward to a return visit very soon. No fridge in room but found out it could be requested. Highly Recommend.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
