This building is a circa 1800 mansion that has been converted into a hotel. Unfortunately it needs some upkeep; it's looking a little shabby. Holes in the table cloths, paint worn away on the walls. Some nice antique furniture and some not so nice antique furniture. One electrical outlet that I could find (although as I was leaving the next...

We were told to have a drink on the veranda of the Columns Hotel. The porch is lovely but the service was horrible. We sat for at least 30 minutes and no server ever acknowledged us. We finally went in the bar and got our own drinks. We cleared our table of the dirty dishes. The server told us they...

We love this hotel. We have been staying at the Columns for over 30 years and have seen many changes but the character that makes us come back has not changed. We love mornings on the front porch, or the upstairs veranda and late nights in the bar. The location is ideal. We can walk and/or take the street car...

The pictures made this place look way better than it was. It's old and a bit funky. The downstairs bar and porch are great. The breakfast was filling and offered good selections. The staff was courteous. Unfortunately, I was expecting the room to be a bit nicer, especially for the price we paid for it. The carpet looked a bit...

We were impressed by the staff, the location and the historic nature of this hotel. The accommodations are old, but very comfortable. When one imagines that this hotel was originally a residence, it is mind boggling. The chandelier in the bar is stunning, and there are many pieces of art in the forms of stained glass, sculpture, paintings and architectural...

Built in 1883 the mansion only has 20 rooms each uniquely decorated with Victorian furnishings or circa 1930. If you're looking for a mini bar, refrigerator or microwave you're not going to find it at The Columns. However, if you want to step back in time and marvel at the beautifully painted ceilings in the ball room, the mahogany bar/lounge,...

We visited this place during the Mardi Gras parades. We purchased a wrist band to be able to get drinks and be able to use the bathroom. Best $10.00 spent. We went into the hotel and we visited the bar and ordered some drinks. We sat on the front porch and we watched people and talked. The interior of the...

The hotel is located on St Charles in the garden district, this provides easy access to all New Orleans has to offer. The hotel has friendly staff , a great bar and a picturesque front porch. The hotel also has charming rooms , but at over 130 years old it comes with the quirks you would expect from an old...

Terrible is too charitable; this place is a dump. The front porch is justly famous for the casual perch above St. Charles Avenue, where one can sip a sazerac, enjoy the breeze and transport to a bygone era. But the rough furniture and spartan cracking concrete decor are the first signal that historic charm is code for dingy, rundown, and...
