Quite simply, my first stay at the Soniat House was like a dream. If you've ever fantasized about living in an historic townhouse in the Quarter, this is the place! It far exceeded my expectations. My room was beautiful, exquisitely tastefully decorated and so soothing and restful that I hated to leave. On top of that, the level of respectful,...

You are the winner! We have had some great reviews in the past but "superlatives don't suffice" tops them all. Thank you for taking the time to write the review and please hurry back.

I returned to the Soniat recently. I hadn't been there in months. Over the past two decades I've stayed there at least 25 times, probably more. It's always been like staying with friends -- friends with spectacularly good taste. The staff, as ever, was impeccable, the essence of Southern hospitality. A pleasant surprise this time -- the rooms have been...

Happy to hear that you like our "new look" even though I know that nothing will get you to give up "your room." Happy to know that you will be back with us next week. A lot more has been done. Can't wait to show you.

I found about this place through Internet and I must say that it did meet my expectations. If you are looking for authenticity and charm, you most probably will not be disappointed either. The building itself is beautiful and extremely well located - everything within the French Quarter can easily be reached on foot from there. My room had great,...

How did I miss this wonderful review? So kind of you to write. I can't help but wonder why you couldn't have breakfast on the patio during your visit. I hope that you didn't experience 3 days of rain and I can't imagine that it could have been too cold in September. Thank you for your kind words.

I have stayed at The Soniat House during the past eight years, usually once or twice a year. When I want friends to know the authentic, old-world charm of New Orleans, I insist they stay at The Soniat House. The owners are beacons of light in the city for their unerring taste, warm, caring hospitality and for the enchanting experience...

We just came back from a 3 night stay in one of the suites. The hotel was in a great location, and it was quiet & authentic. It was our first time at this hotel. We prefer staying at smaller, luxury properties for a more intimate experience. This place was good for that, however it all went out the window...

This is the most difficult response that I have ever had to write. I have no idea what could have happened to your phone but I can assure you that no member of my staff was involved. Michele who was at the desk is a close friend of nearly 50 years. Edina who was also present to help with the...

Stayed at the Soniat House years ago many times- a wonderful place - the real New Orleans. Leave the chain hotels for the mass market. Do not understand the negative comments - must have stayed at a different property.

The Soniat House was such an amazing experience. It was luxurious and the staff was wonderful, without ever being in your face. In fact, I often said to my husband that it felt like no one was there at all, until the moment you wanted or needed anything, and then they were very attentive. It felt like such a truly...

My husband and I recently spent 3 nights at the Soniat House. It came highly regarded by a trusted friend, and I am pleased that we chose to stay there. Room: We booked a junior suite, but was upgraded upon our arrival. Our room was across the street and overlooked a beautiful courtyard. The room itself was large, with a...

I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with a stay at Soniat House. Unless you have little regard for historic sites and genuine southern hospitality and charm. Yes, there are modern luxuries you may need to live without here (like one other reviewer, our bathroom didn't have hooks for robes!) but, really, why would you choose a modern hotel in a...

Upon entering the the doors, it felt as if we had arrived in a magical land of peace and quiet. The busyness of the street and the people didn't enter those doors at all. Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
