I stay at the JW often in New Orleans. The hotel is upscale, clean, and comfortable. The hotel has a nice bar area with great staff. The Valet and Bell Staff are super helpful and attentive. The corner rooms on high floors have great views of the city and the river. The hotel is close to the French Quarter and...

The JW Marriott Hotel is perfectly located on Canal Street between Bourbon and Decatur Streets right in front of the French Quarter. The streetcars (in the median strip) are directly across the street. Walgreens, CVS, a department store, cute boutiques, souvenir shops + tons of restaurants are closeby. Harrah's Casino is a short walk down Canal street. The JW is...

Location is perfect for anything you’re going to do by the water front or in the French Quarter. Hotel is very nice and up to date as you would expect a JW Marriott to be. Buffy Breakfast was very overpriced and there were not many choices but within just a couple of blocks there are many good restaurants.

And Fogo de Chao in the lobby! What's not to love? You are within walking distance to the Franch Quarter yet not IN the French Quarter for when you want some breathing room. Nice pool, great staff. Valet is a little expensive ($45 a night) but worth it for the piece of mind.

Staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the pool area, its small, but clean. The exercise area is nice as well. In the am, I was able to enjoy breakfast with my brother in the executive area. Great coffee! The bar area is also very nice with decent bar food and good service. In the morning they have a la carte...

We stayed here for French Quarter Festival when the hotel is very full. Staff is very friendly and our favorite was Rosa Flores with housekeeping. She kept our room clean and left us little washcloth animals. Thanks Rosa. The hotel has a complimentary Executive Lounge on the main floor for Elite program guests. It offers breakfast every day with hors...

Rooms were nice, mostly quite. Surprising that sirens from Canal Street were loud enough to wake me up. Beds were comfortable. Nice desk, with good wifi speed. Frustrating that two of the four elevators were out of commission during the better part of one day. The hotel is well situated to the French Quarter, and there are lots of restaurants...

Tim the bellman, you sir just saved your hotel a two star rating. Tim was helpful upon delivering the bags to the room, explaining the climate control, hours of breakfast, location of the concierge area as well as providing extra pillows and ice. The front desk staff, although pleasant, seem almost always understaffed. Long lines of 10-15 guests each would...

I got the distinct impression that if there wasn't another large Marriott across the street, that this property wouldn't be a JW. It didn't really seem any different than a standard Marriott (with the exception of the concierge lounge, which is very nice). Otherwise the lobby, the rooms, the gym, the pool, and most everything else felt very Marriott "standard."

The property has east facing rooms which I prefer for maximum direct light at sunrise but the Marriott on the other side and the Sheraton next door obstruct view of the sunrise. However, from 7am-7:40am, 2315 received direct sunlight. Between that and the incredibly comfortable beds, I really enjoyed this property. In fact, I am pleased that the buildings obstruct...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
