We were so happy that we chose Maison de Lagniappe for our week in New Orleans. We chose a larger suite for our stay so we could spread out a bit and were very comfortable. The room had a/c which was very much appreciated during the "hotter than normal" spring weather. The house was clean, quiet and ecclectically decorated, including...

I labeled this family, only because I had my two children (21 & 22) with me. We went to New orleans to celebrate a couple of 21st birthdays, I worried at first that the kids would think this was too far away from the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street, but I was wrong they loved it. It was my...

Ourselves and another couple stayed in suites #1 and #2. The accomodations were great. There is a large sitting area and separate bedroom area. We really enjoyed breakfast and evenings on the patio. Don was away and Harry was very helpful with tips on where to eat and what to visit. We have stayed in numerous B&B's and I would...

My husband and I stayed at Maison de Lagniappe at the end of March. We chose to stay here after reading the reviews on a couple of sites. The reviews were right on! From the beginning Don and Harry (the owners) could not have made it more pleasant. They emailed us with directions on how to get to the B&B...

We didn’t get to meet Don (he was away), but Harry treated us to a new kind of food every day and was very helpful in ‘learning us’ the area. This place is right off the French Quarter and easy walking to anywhere in that section of town. We heard some of the best music on Frenchman street…which is only...

Stayed here for our first Mardi Gras trip and had the best time! Harry is an absolute treasure that's willing to do just about anything to make your stay everything you want it to be. We had a great time and hope to make it back soon. The location is perfect, and the B&B itself an experience. Could not of...

Absolutely the very best owners, clean and very comfortable rooms, we had the best time and Don and Harry were absolutely terrific. Harry even took us on a tour of several spots in New Orleans. These owners know how to spoil their guests. There were 5 of us (senior women in bodies only!) and we could walk to several restaurants...

My wife & I had the fortune of staying at Maison de Lagniappe for 4 days (originally planned 3; but the accomodations and the host was so great that we extended our stay) during the last week in January. Harry's (the host) gracious accomodation was superior. We stayed a beautiful room with a nice private bath. It was located adjacent...

My husband were planning our honeymoon/first anniversary and wanted our trip to provide something different. When looking at places to stay I knew I didn't want to stay in a traditional franchise hotel and when I went to www.vrbo.com and saw this place I knew it would provide what we were looking for in a place to stay. The hosts...

Maison de Lagniappe has it all -- marvelous location, consummate hosts in Don & Harry, beautiful courtyard that's hard to leave it's so comfortable, art, and yet a soft homelike feel. The only trouble with it is that's hard to tear yourself away to see the sights of New Orleans. Every need has been precipitated -- feel a mosquito? The...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.

“The Garden Room is nice and quiet, being it's at ground level and away from the rest of the rooms. Mini-fridge is a nice touch. The bathroom isn't huge, but it isn't tiny, either...perfectly adequate. We'd stay in this room again.”
