If you’ve read any of the other reviews on the Hotel Ruby Marie then by now you've gathered it's "different" but in my mind in a good way. The people are super friendly, not the least bit stuffy and very helpful. This is not a full service hotel but nor are they pretending to be. It's a clean, comfortable hotel...

The building was great, excellent location, room was nice...UNTIL we realized that our room (#16) was right above the bar. No one told us this when we checked in, so we didn't 'get the memo' until we tried to go to bed at 11pm, and the music was still going and every conversation of the drunk people below could be...

I have friends and family in the Madison area. There isn't always room to stay with them, so I have stayed at a few hotels around town -- Madison definitely has some good options. The Ruby Marie had a rocky start, but it grew on me after 3 nights. There's no overnight staff -- if there's an emergency they do...

The room was nice, comfortable, a bit noisy because of the nearby train tracks and loud bar music from the floor below. The comp'd drink and breakfast tickets were a nice touch, and the breakfast menu was great!

We stayed at the hotel Ruby Marie for seven nights when we visited our son who’s studying at the University of Wisconsin during the fall semester. The first two nights we had a smaller room, after that we had a large room. Both were convenient and nice. The service was very good. We´re from the Netherlands and were to stay...

We made last minute reservations for a campus tour for my daughter and had to scramble for lodging. We could have stayed on the outskirts of town, but parking on campus is crazy and we wanted to leave the car at the hotel and walk if possible. I found Ruby Marie's on TripAdvisor and decided to check to see if...

Old building made new! Our room was good size with small fridge, new TV, jacuzzi type tub/shower. Delicious choices for breakfast - not the factory-made kind. Our room had a view of the lake. We would return to this hotel on another visit to Madison.

We had a peaceful stay at the Hotel Ruby Marie. Room was small but that made it cozy. Breakfast was delicious, and it was awesome being so close to the square. We will definitely be going back to this gem!

A perfect place! Warm cookies at night, beautiful rooms, right by the Capitol, Farmer's Market, downtown, and breakfast is in the restaurant that is connected to the hotel! You are just a doorway away from the Northwoods Saloon, The Come Back Inn, and the Essen Haus with the glass boots for beer. Best food in town at the Come Back!...

Charming old hotel. Has plenty of character. Our room was spacious, clean and well-decorated. Bathroom was perfect. Service was good. The hotel is located next to Lake Monona and close to the Capitol, about 7 minutes walk. If you enjoy hotels that have character and are not bland, this is a great choice. Also, this is a great walking area,...
