Beautiful hotel with sprawling lawns. All staff dressed in suits - very old school. In fact probably too old school for some... you need a coat and tie for dinner - if you don't have one they provide it. Staff were very nice and helpful at all times.

Delightful place to visit. You feel like you've been transported back in time. The dining room was from a bygone era. The waiters wore white gloves and the service and food was excellent. The nights are quite cool so it was perfect to find a hot water bottle had been placed in our beds with the turn down service.

We stayed two nights and found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. The rooms themselves are big and spacious and the bathroom is clean with a good shower (we were in room 5). You can hear people walking along the corridor but we found that in most hotels in Sri Lanka - pack your ear plugs. The restaurant is...

We stayed one night here and absolutely loved it. There are so many things you could say about the place - the strange traditions that have lasted until today, the not so amazing food. But the Hill Club is an experience rather than a place!! In particular I loved: the service, particularly a waiter called Benedict who just instinctively knew...

We had formal dinner (jackets and ties required) at this very fine and quintessentially 19th century English establishment. If you are not staying at this hotel, make sure you request a tour of the premises and you will be treated to one of the cheapest ways to travel back in time. Visit the shop, billiard room, the bar and the...

Its what bad english hotels used to be like way back when so not sure why the Hill Club has to try and emulate that ! The staff are friendly and efficient but the rooms are sooooo dated and the food was overcooked and poorly presented (UK 1950s!). With an update this hotel could be exceptional. Location is great ,...

You certainly feel a sense of England when pulling up the drive and seeing the grey stone building. The grounds were beautiful and I wish I had had more time to enjoy them. I loved the creaking, carpeted floor boards. The reading room was a place that one would love to curl up in, and they had plenty of books...

The Hill Club was originally a Planters Club and has its own tradition. It has the proud distinction of hosting Queen Elizabeth during her visit to Sri lanka and the cutlery which was used the royal banquet is displayed in the hotel. The formal dining room serves a 5 course dinner however one has to be dressed formally with a...

This accommodation is a little bit of Sri Lankan history and is a good place to stay if you are travelling in the hill district. The place is interesting for the historically curious tourist but a bit tired and stuffy for the modern traveller. The staff were all trained to serve in the 'colonial club' manner and this was quite...

As I was travelling with a group, the location was not picked by me. The hotel and the gardens look very nice, but they do have a an old fashioned feel and the hotel is a bit dark inside. We had a very nice spacious room with a modern bathroom. You can feel that you are higher up on, cause...
