Beautiful rooms, charming pub, tasteful fireplace. Amenities - less than basic: sachet toiletries, no hair dryers (even on special request), musty smelling rooms. But overall - stay here if you the Grand Hotel is booked out.

This place is a classic colonial hotel with a fine restaurant. On arrival there was no table available so we waited at the fireplace. We ordered a bottle of wine and spring rolls to enjoy next to the fire. Waiters are very attentive and keep asking if all is well. The Chinese food we had was good. Not perfect, the...

The Glendower is a big rambling series of bungalows all linked together, pannelled in wood with heavy traditional 'british style' furniture so a bit gloomy with little atmosphere. The bed was extremely comfortable and the hotel's best feature. The bar and billiard room are a blast from the past in this colonial style building, Mouldy bathroom and the building site...

We arrived on a rainy and cold Day from the warm Kandy.. The hotel was dark (they may call it the colonial style, but I don't buy it), the room was cold, with no heating and we stayed in because of the rain (and had to put on our travelling clothes, meant for Norway). There is a building site next...

Although we had a nice room incl. authentic squeaky floorboards, the room looks out onto the main road, Noise is more of a problem on the side of the entrance as a new building is...

The look of the hotel is really quaint and old English style but its website it definitely misleading. The small lawn looks like a sprawling one on the website and the hotel looks much bigger on the website too. Since its a very old property lacks basic amenities like a tea maker in the room, enough plug points etc. The...

Building is extraordinary: I really felt like I was in an old manor in the English countryside. Some will find it obsolete, some others will find it charming, that's just a matter of taste. What is not a matter of taste, though, is the terrible service offered by the staff: there's a pub, but no draft beer, you have to...
