Inspired by the early European settlers from the 1800s, architect Bill Bensley designed Capella Ubud, Bali as a tribute to their spirit of adventure. Our refined tents are more than a hotel. Constructed within the trees and hidden from afar, it captures the imagination of those who seek a unique experience at the heart of Bali’s untouched natural surroundings. Within the camp are twenty-two one-bedroom tents as well as one two-bedroom lodge, all with private salt water pools.

If it is not of the pandemic, The resort is the best I have experience in Indonesia. The nature, atmosphere are very romantic and suitable for honeymooners or to release some stress from work in the city. I think the resort is not suitable for the kids as there are not much activities for the kids except swimming. During our stay, we found out that some of the staffs did not use the masks while cleaning our tent and one staff forgot to put the mask while serving on us during breakfast. Most of the staff members use their masks below nose level, only covering their mouths. These are the things that makes us very uncomfortable during our stay. Other than, the stay is very pleasant and wonderful. Maybe we will come back after the pandemic where masks are not required anymore.

Dear brata2017, Warmest greetings from your Capella home in Ubud, Bali. Thank you very much for your recent stay with us and the invaluable feedback you have kindly shared. First and foremost, we would all like to express our sincere regret for the careless wearing of masks you encountered, this is certainly not the standard we aspire to and for this we apologize. Our team recognizes the essential nature related to all pandemic protocols within the camp and we will certainly endeavor to ensure our certified standards are delivered consistently. Our camp has some wonderful children’s activities, however with the tourism slowdown many of our favorite “Little Star” adventures are not available due our partners being closed. Within the camp, we have a variety of different experiences we try to curate for our young campers depending on their age and interest. On a bright note we are highly grateful you found Capella Ubud, Bali to be “the best you have experienced in Indonesia” and we would cherish the opportunity to welcome you back to create new and lasting memories. In Appreciation, Mark General Manager

If you wish to experience the famous and unique Capella Ubud but it's above your budget or fully booked, then book a special re-treat for half a day with a treatment at the Auriga spa and a meal at the Mads Lounge restaurant. Ask to have a tour and a peak at one of the fabulous 'rooms'. We got to see the only two bedroom lodge called "The Lodge'' out of the 23 they have (designed by Bangkok- based American architect Bill Bensley).

The spa treatment takes place in a tent but it's not far from your average tent. All tents are 19th century themed (designed to honour The Age of Exploration, a time when European explorers set out to conquer the seas), and no trees were harmed during their construction. In fact a jackfruit tree trunk grows through the tent and the treatment room is built around it.

The treatment myself and my friend were booked in for is called the The New Moon Ritual, which takes two hours. The spa uses the Organic Pharmacy products which is a London based holistic retailer.

They say that the new moon is the time for renewal and introspection and to meditate on who you are and would like to become, establish strategies to reach your higher potential and to set new intentions and bring harmony.

The healing and body nourishing treatment begins with a foot massage, followed by a sea salt scrub & deeply stimulating body polish. The therapist then moves on to a full body massage using rosemary and eucalyptus oils. You can hear the soothing sounds of the rainforest which makes the connection to the surrounding nature really magical.

Feeling super relaxed we then headed to Mads Lounge (named after a Danish explorer of the 19th century) for a delicious lunch around a huge wooden table. I was bedazzled by the ceiling’s impressive painting design. Whilst in Bali one must drink the Indonesian jamu tonics of course and I was pleasantly surprised to see a classic British vegan dish 'chilli sin carne' on the menu as it's one of my favourites.

Dear soulseedtravel, Warmest greetings from your Capella home in Ubud, Bali. Thank you very much for your recent visit and sharing your wonderful impressions. Everyone needs to be pampered, whether it be for half a day, a full day or several days we would welcome the opportunity to revive our visitors. We’re so thrilled your visit provided you with such lasting memories. Our family of Capella Culturists are always excited to showcase the camp for our guests, introducing them to the history, the design and our vision. We’re glad you had the time to see our unique two-bedroom tent, The Lodge with it’s colorful design. As you realized, if your time doesn’t allow for an overnight stay, having a spa treatment at Capella Ubud is a glimpse into the tent experience with our Auriga Wellness offerings being conducted within one of three tents. Our wellness concept focuses on lunar energy and we’re overjoyed you discovered the New Moon Ritual which we hope, benefitted you with renewed energy. It’s so rewarding to read your attention to detail and appreciation for the variety of aspects built into the treatments, thank you very much for this. All this spa indulging builds ones appetite, and we’re delighted you were able to enjoy Mads Lange, our camp’s split level dining room with views over the Wos River Valley. Continuing the wellness journey, Jamu is a fantastic accompaniment to your spa rejuvenation and it’s wonderful you enjoyed this in addition to the epic “Chili Non Carne”. On weekend I spent a night in Capella Ubud in Bali. and I had such a incredible time. First thing that catch my eyes was stunning interior designs and esthetics of the hotel. not only makes you feel comfy, overall atmosphere makes it less boring and unique and most importantly it was very clean like every good hotel should be. Their service was well organized and very polite, and foods and drinks was absolutely my favorite parts along side with interior designs. usual western meals and combinations with Indonesian foods that even foreigners can enjoy with no problem. even at short tea & cocktail time they serves you many kinds of stuffs fills with flavor that never let your mouth get bored. If I had to choose some parts that didn’t love that much it has to be pathway throughout the hotel. it’s made out of rocks and there’s decent amount of stairs too, when it’s rainy day I think it’s pretty dangerous to go around especially if you had some drinks or very tired. And I felt very awkward about unique design of the toilet. it is very esthetically pleasing but felt like less practical and less privacy when you sharing room with somebody. I think that was the only things I felt negatively about this hotel. other than that, it was amazing experience in every aspect. The experience that you never get in other places.

Dear Munhee B, Warmest greetings from your Capella home in Ubud, Bali. Thank you very much for selecting our camp during your recent weekend staycation and we’re delighted you enjoyed your camping discovery. Upon entering Capella Ubud, Bali it’s like escaping into a story and we’re delighted you were captivated by the energy, our camp public areas, the tents, the details and more. Our architect and design company, The Bensley Design Studios are a truly gifted team, highly creative, very detail oriented and always expanding towards new frontiers. Space should always be comfortable so we’re most pleased you felt this in addition to the cleanliness. We are truly blessed to have such warm and caring colleagues offering personalized hospitality and we sincerely appreciate you recognizing this in addition to our varied culinary offerings. Our food and beverage selections offer authentic flavours utilizing the freshest of ingredients from the vibrant Bali sea to the lush Ubud farms. We’re thrilled you enjoyed this especially during the Afternoon Tea and sunset Officer Canape ritual within the Officer’s Tent. Thank you so much for highlighting the natural contours we’re built upon, most certainly leave the heals at home, camp comfortable is the best way to enjoy. Being located within the Wos River Valley, the topography of the camp’s land does slope down from west to east which allows for stunning panoramic views, however as you rightly comment, this does present an effort for mobility. With that in mind, we do have camp buggies available for the comfort of our guests and accommodation can be allocated closer to the public areas if preferred. Your impressions of the toilet, or throne as it’s often dubbed, are well received with the spirit of improvement as we advance into the future. Thank you very much for sharing these invaluable observations with us. Munhee B, we are highly grateful you found Capella Ubud, Bali to be an amazing experience in every aspect and we would cherish the opportunity to welcome you back to create new and lasting memories. Without doubt one of the best resorts I have stayed at in Bali with a very high benchmark on all aspects of the stay.

The location of the resort is a bit far from the mainstream Ubud market (feels that way mostly because of the traffic), but totally worth the wait. The moment the car enters the property one can see the wonderfully landscaped grounds of the hotel, it's overall design based on a tent type architecture and the surrounding rice fields and jungle which has a very relaxing jungle vibe. The property however has a lot of steps and narrow walk ways and was not stroller friendly (we travelled with our 10 month old daughter). While this was not a problem, but getting from tent to the main area (reception/spa/restaurants) involved a quick hike (this will depend on where the tent is located on the property.

The luxury river tent we stayed at was exemplary with ample space, very uniquely designed bathroom and staying true to its idea of luxury camping. Each tent seemed to have a slightly different design with a unique theme, our tent was called the princess tent with the a fairly well sized pool sitting one level below the tent right in middle of the forest, a small waterfall and the flowing river. The sound of both the waterfall and the river could be heard the moment we stepped into the tent's entrance.

A special mention for the entire staff who were very attentive to our requirements since we travelled with our 10 month old daughter. They had pre-arranged for the baby cot, baby bath products and also a sterilizer in the tent prior to our arrival. Almost all staff addressed us by our name including my daughter's name. The service overall had a very high benchmark which made our stay very comfortable and the also made Capella Ubud stand out among other places we have previously stayed at in Bali.

We are truly delighted you enjoyed your stay with the little one. We’re thrilled you enjoyed the Princess Tent which is nicely situated just above the Vos River enabling you to here the sounds of natural river water and birds amongst the forest. Each tent has their own unique personality and design drawing from cultural and natural elements further enhancing one’s experience. Our surrounding village of Keliki and Ubud have so many cultural treasures to enjoy. Where do we start! From the moment we arrived until the time we arrived back from our honeymoon we were looked after to the best of Capella's abilities and had a fabulous experience. All the staff are beyond kind and professional during the entire stay and you also get assigned a personal butler that they call, a culturalist. This person will take care of all your needs and help you plan anything you like in the premises and outside. We had loads of ideas of things to do and Wisnu helped us plan and organize what to do during the days of our stay. The tents are something to die for. if you are in for some luxury experience in the middle of the jungle you have found the right place. From the exotic interior designs till the outside showers and private pool overlooking the massive jungle, whilst you sleep you hear the loud sounds of nature which brings a beautiful feeling during the stay. Let me not forget the bedtime ritual of every night a tea and water bowl for your feet is prepared with water and salts with flower for you to drink tea whilst soothing your feet in water to refresh and rest just before you go to bed. The decoration in the tent is amazing and all extremely tidy and really clean. No TV which we loved, everything worked including AC and we were give survivor kits too so enough moskito repelants to keep us sane! We stayed in cartographer's tent by the way - awesome location!
I can go on and on here about all the gorgeous setting this place however to us what stood out the most was the staff, everyone was beyond kind, professional and warm to us and took care of us like no other hotel has. So regardless of the amazing experience you will for sure have if you stay in capella, you will meet extraordinary people who are truly truly special, polite, loving and caring for others. We loved capella, we will always say great things about it and I don't think there is anything that needs to improve in this magical place. Rest assured you are in for beyond a treat, you are in for a dream.

Dear Isabella B, Warmest greetings from your Capella home in Ubud, Bali. Thank you for sharing your vacation impressions from your recent stay with us and for entrusting such an important memory as your honeymoon with us. We’re thrilled you enjoyed the experience and our team, especially Wisnu cultivated a relaxing atmosphere to create your personal moments. As you so rightly explain, our forest surroundings are such a wonderful setting for the camp to enjoy Mother Nature’s beauty. This is then enhanced by Bill Bensley’s imaginative design to create such a remarkable fantasy within the tents. Whether it’s the outdoor showers, the copper bathtub, the outdoor pool overlooking the jungle, the king four poster bed, the decoration and so much more. To further elevate this, we’re overjoyed you appreciated the various amenities including the evening turn-down ritual, the coffee & tea offerings, the refreshment trunk, the bathroom soaps and more. It’s quite remarkable how so many people truly enjoy not having a television even though we have the capability. The most cherished memories in life tend to originate from journeys unlike anything we have ever done. Isabella B, we hope Capella Ubud will always be a lasting honeymoon memory for you and we hope to welcome you back on your anniversaries! Wishing you and your spouse a lifetime hand in hand, Mark General Manager

It is an amazing and unique experience to stay in Capelle. The hotel rooms are different from one to another with unique decoration styles. It is really like living in a tent in the forest. The hospitality of the Capelle is also the best. The crew are very friendly and always ready to assist.
The hotel offers great dining experiences, from breakfast to dinner. The dinner tasting menu from Api Jiwa is a must-try.
The tours the Capelle offers are also one of a kind. The guides are well-knowledged of local cultures and taking you to all the hidden gems. The picnic experiences they prepared in the mountains are also one of a kind.

On the second night in Bali, I stayed in Ubud Kapelle, Bali. This hotel is located in the forest. It is a jungle-style tent wild luxury hotel. The feeling of close contact with nature is really decompression

The location of the hotel is located in Ubud Hotel surrounded by the whole original forest the hotel room is a large tent each room has a separate yard and private pool very private furniture are all customized rooms are very large rooms without mosquitoes

On the day of my stay, I tried their family's spa technique, which was very professional, and I fell asleep. Moreover, the spa room was also in the jungle, with the smell of essential oils and the scenery of the forest

The breakfast at the hotel was also very good and there was a wide selection of Indonesian food at their restaurant which was one of the best Indonesian dishes I've had in two days. The beef stew was tender and the chicken was tender and the taste of the drink was just so-so

In fact, the most admirable thing should be the service of their home with 24h private butler. What is amazing is that every staff can accurately address our name, which makes people feel that they really have to do the service and feel the high level of service

When I made the reservation, it was about 1000 US dollars a night, the price is a little expensive. The disadvantage may be that it is a little far from the downtown of Ubud, it takes about 30 minutes to take a taxi. From the service, environment, dining, spa, I was surprised

From the moment we arrived we were blown away , the resort/ retreat is nothing short of amazing! We were transported to a different world with a magical Bali feel. Taking glamming to another level, Wirth themed tents and infinity pools unusual designs and unique quirky features
Capella has to be on your must stay list in Ubud Bali. I recommend a tent near the officers tent, and Resturant for the least distance away, the tents are reached by stepping stone steps through the resorts green gardens so high heels is a no no! After a few days back and forth to the tent our fitness level was up and our step count through the roof, there’s a gym the “armory ” and you can plan a yoga session in too and there’s a spa
A spiritual blessing down by the river, cooking class and rice field exploring the Capella team are on hand to assist and are attentive and always smiling, we had our own culturist ( butler ) Perry who arranged everything from in-room dining, trips, blessing and yoga.
The tents are magical we stayed in the Horn collectors Tent, the others have names too, photographer tent, naturalist tent, captains tent, puppet makers tent all chosen themes from the 1800 pioneers who sailed to Bali. The pool area “the cistern” is funky and some great views and photo options
We stayed 2 nights 3 days and loved every minute
5 star glamping on another level
Amazing stay and experience
Tips
chose tent near top of resort for less steps, river tents are at the lower level and are a good choice if you want to really immerse yourself into the jungle

First of all, service was impeccable! All the staff were so attentive and friendly. They manage to provide all our needs and request and I really appreciate them being so attentive and accommodating with my vegan diet. The tent was so beautiful and individually curated with vintage pieces and design. So far the best hotel design ive ever seen. Even though we are the only guests at that time due to pandemic lockdown restrictions, the hotel and all facilities are very clean and well-maintained. Plenty of interesting activities available, you won’t feel bored at all just staying all day at the resort. All in all, it was a great stay we really really enjoyed it. Special thanks to our butler, Sukran, Yogi at officer’s tent, mads lange breakfast and dinner staff, front office staff and our yoga teacher, Budi for making us feel so welcomed and well taken care of.

Dear Aldys T, Warmest greetings from your Capella home in Ubud, Bali. Thank you so much for sharing your valuable impressions from your recent stay at the camp. We’re delighted you enjoyed the warm hospitality from our colleagues who genuinely care about your enjoyment and I know Sukram, Yogi & Budi certainly appreciate your recognition. It’s most rewarding to know you enjoyed the tent design with the curated decorations and found it to be “the best hotel design I’ve ever seen”. We hope to welcome you back someday soon to discover a different individually styled tent with its timeless charm. Food is so personal and important to cherish while enjoying your holiday so knowing this, it’s a great pleasure for our culinary team to create a variety of appealing vegan options for you. Whether it’s culture, adventure, wellness or quality “alone time”, our guests interests are paramount so we’re overjoyed you found the facilities and activities fulfilling. Aldys T, nothing would give us greater pleasure than to welcome you back and we hope to have this privilege someday soon. In Appreciation, Mark Mark Swinton General Manager

Before we traveled, I was in touch with Sukram who is one of Capella's Culturists. He helped arrange a private itinerary for us, made the staff aware of my dietary restrictions, travel from the airport to Capella and then to Seminyak after our stay (included with the hotel stay), and VIP airport arrival service (an additional fee and worth every penny to avoid lines and navigating the

I didn’t pay attention to the air conditioning but I believe it was there. The place is way above luxury standards, it is super comfortable. I don’t remember ever to feel the need to check on the temperature. But most likely it was there.

"Only negative about Capella resort is that there are many steps and small inclines to manage. Wonderful hotel but you must be very mobile."
