This is a fabulous retreat; consisting of small but well fitted out cabins privately situated in the grounds of landscaped rice fields. There is a fresh water swimming pool, the paths through the rice fields that lead to the cabins have interesting and lovely sculptures or trees by the sides. The food was excellent: freshly picked and prepared. The people...

This is an amazingly beautiful resort set in rice fields with a view of the mountain in the background. Local hiking is inspiring and the guide informative. I stayed for a four day yoga retreat and took in all the wonder with a peaceful mind. This is the Bali we are all looking for. As for the rooms, I found...

This beautiful resort is located in the middle of the rice fields. Private cabins, very well kept and managed by lovely people. The food is excellent! Organic out of their own gardens. I signed up for a 5 day yoga and meditation retreat. And felt at home the moment I arrived. What an excellent place to hold a retreat! Franziska,...

I stayed here for 2 nights while traveling with a group around bali. The bungalows are nice, mine had a waterfall and a pond next to it which made a beautiful sound backdrop to fall asleep to. The bed was comfy, the bungalow well furnished with lots of neat wooden details. There was a porch to sit on to enjoy...

We were initially only booked in for 7 days but extended our stay to 10 days. We were very fortunate to stay in the "New House", which is the newest, most nicely furnished and is overlooking the forest. The food in Prana Dewi restaurant is perhaps the best we had in any restaurant in Bali. Staff is extremely friendly and...

Quiet, remote, completely integrated in the local nature, and with pleasant and helpful staff, this is a great pick for a weekend escape from the chaos of southern Bali. Rooms are clean, spacious, and each bungalow includes some local traditional elements and building materials. There is obviously an ongoing challenge with the upkeep of the facilities, but overall our stay...

I stayed at Prana Dewi twice and loved the experience each time. It’s set in a gorgeous landscape and offers all the peace and tranquillity that one can wish for.

Being an arachnophobe I almost gave this place a miss after reading previous reviews but as my husband pointed out, we've lived in the tropics for over 15 years and truth be told there isn't much I haven't seen in my own homes at one time or another, so I steeled myself for the onslaught of creepie crawlies and gave...

We liked the setting and the rustic charme. Bali-Style Bungalows set within the rice-fields surrounded by tropical plants and a good restaurant. The problem is the place is in need of refurbishment rustic shouldn´t include antique mattresses which haven´t been replaced for ages. The bathrooms are romantically open air but have seen better days and a white piece of tube...

Sadly, it is impossible to recommend this beautifully located hotel as they clearly habitually overbook. This is the first time I have been moved to write a review on TripAdviser, and am not normally one to grouch! Despite booking by email and following this up with an (acknowledged) confirmation to Franziska (the boss), we arrived after a long day travelling...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to the Prana Dewi Mountain Resort Tripadvisor page! Our resort is located at the foot of Mt. Batukaru, the second highest Mountain of Bali. Mt. Batukaru is sacred to the Balinese and has a temple, Pura Luhur Batukaru dedicated to it. The last village on the way to the temple is called Wongaya Gede and this is where the owner and architect of the resort, I Gede Hanjaya grew up and lived. The resort is made up of 11 traditional bungalows with 14 rooms nested between organic rice paddies, tropical fruit trees and ornamental fishponds. Our bungalows are generously spaced apart to insure you tranquility and privacy. The interior of every bungalow is unique and beautifully decorated. Each bungalow has a terrace, deck or a bale, a traditional open hut, perfect for relaxing, yoga or meditation amongst rice fields and flowing waters. As well as being a nice place to spend a few days as a visitor, the resort is also specialized to hold meditation and yoga courses over longer periods. If you are interested in this, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our restaurant, which is also open for guests who are not staying in the resort offers delicious western and Indonesian meals. We use as much organically and locally grown fruits and vegetables as we can. Our organic brown rice is grown in the fields throughout the resort! We also offer some actives such a hiking Mt. Batukaru, walks through coffee plantations and rice fields as well as baths in hot water springs. In resort activities include traditional Balinese massage and taking a refreshing dip in the all natural spring water pool. Our friendly staff is happy to greet you! ... more   less
