The gardens are lovely and well maintained.
We had a one bedroom bungalow room and it was great. It was a wooden construction, with a thatch roof. It had two rooms, bedroom and bathroom with the bedroom looking out the covered verandah which was so large, it really counted as a second room, especially as it had a two seater lounge and a couple of armchairs plus a coffee table. It was fully covered so no rain got in. Lovely view across the paddies to the distant mountains. I had asked for a quiet room and we were given one right up the back, away from the other rooms. The other rooms all looked nice, and all seemed to have varying designs and layouts.
Bed was king-sized with mosquito nets and there was a bar fridge and a cupboard for luggage plus some seating.
The bathroom was huge with double sinks, a full-sized concrete bath and two showers, one outdoors.
They actually had a clock on the wall, which was really handy to have.
The pool was nice and cool. only a few loungers right next to it but there was also another level below it with more loungers.
The restaurant was really good - a large range of items, very well presented, tasty and reasonably priced.
The weather was lovely and cool, which was a relief after a few days in Amed.
Things to consider (but very minor and I'd recommend this place):
There's not much to do, there just seems to be the village (standard Bali village with no restaurants or tourist shops) and a collection of accommodations plus one or two tourist shops and massage places. Good excuse to get some reading done.
Massage within Sawah Indah was just OK, nothing special except for the lovely location looking into the garden.
There was some building next door - compared to the photos, this area has become a little more built out but still does have extensive rice paddies so it still has an open feel to it.
In case you wanted it, this property doesn't have a view of Agung. You can see it if you walk back up the hill towards the village.
Quite a few mosquitoes but that's to be expected everywhere in Bali especially near rice paddies.
The breakfast had two options, Balinese or Western type – we always chose the Balinese breakfast of course. It was also possible to get it as a vegetarian version. The restaurant of the Sawah Idah was also very good for dinner, still, alternative Warungs and other restaurants are available within minutes by foot.
A comfortable bed for the night guaranteed a recharge after exciting day trips around this magnificent region of north-east Bali.
Unfortunately, we haven’t had the opportunity to go in the swimming pool, but it looked fantastic in the scenery of the beautiful garden and surrounding rice fields.
One thing to bear in mind is the restaurant in the hotel and restaurants in the village close very early. We arrived in the evening around 8pm and couldn't find any restaurants open. Make sure to bring snacks with you as there are not many shops around!
We also liked the à la carte breakfast on the veranda.
The staff are all super friendly, the complex offers cozy corners to sit and lie in.
The lush garden in the middle of the rice fields and the swimming pool welcome guests as well as the kindness of the staff.
The room is beautiful and equipped with all the comforts you could wish for.
The restaurant, where we had dinner twice, is on par with the hotel.
Stupendous!
I learned some great recipes and techniques and can’t wait to make them at home. I absolutely recommend.
Very generous breakfast, either typical or a little more American. For my part, I only tested the typical one and it's so good.
Very varied and good quality restaurant. Good cocktails too. Allow around €15 for a cocktail, a main course, a dessert. All the staff take great care. You can go for a walk in the small village without any problem.
"It's far from the typical tour location so pickup and drop-off may not be serviceable without additional fees."Read full review
"Ate at warung bukit artha. Scooter hire you was 100k a day from the hotel which I thought was fair."Read full review
