Me and my husband stayed here for 3 nights whilst travelling around bali
I have rated this hotel very good as personally i feel the pro's out weigh the cons and we really enjoyed our stay here.
Pro's
1. THE VIEW!!
This is by far the best view i have ever woken to. The photos dont even begin to show you how breathtaking it is when you 1st walk in and then every time you look at it again. Truely amazing and somthing i wont ever forget
2. The staff
They really go out your way to help. Very friendly and attentive
3. The room!
We stayed in a deluxe suite with jacuzzi on balcony. We didnt look at the other rooms
But this was well worth the small extra we paid. The furnishing was really beautiful. Although deco was looking a bit dated, could do with a freshen up and a few holes etc filling in. But overall beautiful and clean as was the rest of the hotel.

Cons
1. Far from anything
At least a 20 min drive from ubud centre. Its really off the beaten track but i suppose thats the price you pay for that view.
The hotel provide free shuttle until 10pm which was great and reliable but good luck with the taxi drivers finding it outside of those hours. What a nightmare.

2. The food
Sorry guys we only ate here twice and it was really awful. Breakfast was edible but other than that i wouldnt bother.

3. The emptiness of hotel
Ok for some this maybe a pro for some but personally we like to chat to others and it really was empty. Only 3 rooms filled in the hotel and its pretty big. I get from other reviews this is quite common in which case i dont know how they continue to stay open

Overall i would stay again. A good way to recharge but not close enough to see ubud. I would recommend doing the rafting on the agung river, the hotel staff will organise this for you

We stayed on early Nov. I found this hotel from people's blog & tripadvisor. We love the ambience and great view. The room was very spacious with the bath up and huge balcony. The staff were friendly and the breakfast were excellent. Instead of serve in buffet they let us choose our breakfast. there were Indonesian bfast, American bfast & continental bfast. We tried all the bfast and it was nice and great tasty.
They also had shuttle to ubud town for free. Overall everything was good and we had great moment there.

Today is the last day of our four day stay. The moment you enter the hotel you get mesmerized by the amazing location and jungle view. We stayed in deluxe suit room which is very comfortable, spacy and clean with a balcony jakuzi viewing the ayung river and the amazing jungle valley. It seemed a perfect place for honeymooners. However there are serious management and service problems with this amazing complex;

1- The staff speak very little english; it gets very frustrating many times( we are a really easy going couple with low expectations) they gave us an old blue folder after we asked for a map and took 10 minutes!!!
2- Shuttle pickup wasn't on time
3- when you ask something in reception 3 people surround you with useless jibberish and take a loooong time to resolve a simple question
4- We have been to top 10 restaurants all over Bali and simply the dinner and launch were the worst that you can find. We couldnt finish the meals. Try beef fillet mignon and the pizzas; havent had a worse one. The breKfast is ok. And the candle light complimentary dinner special for honeymooners is extremely dissapointing.
5- the main pool is amazing with a spectacular jungle view but there is no place to sit or lie down around it! So you swim, and then have to go to far away places to be able relax somewhere.
In conclusion, it is a very nice and clean hotel with a wonderful atmosphere, but it is managed poorly.

As a family we have travelled a lot. We take great care, and have fun in planning where to go and stay. We use trip advisor a lot and it has always helped us a great deal. I really hope this review will help others. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL.
We booked this hotel through expedia, having first looked at the hotel's website, and then the details provided by expedia.
We booked a "2 bedroom family villa" for our family of 5, for three nights.
Our stay here was night 7 of our holiday in Bali, having spent the previous 6 in a villa near Canggu beach. The Rijasa should NOT advertise themselves as having 2 bedroom villas because they DON'T! Or, if they do, we didn't see evidence of any! We arrived and first of all were told they were overbooked and the villas were full! Then they told us we had only booked for two children, despite our expedia itinerary clearly saying three children! Two hours later we were still waiting to be checked in. We had called expedia in NZ and they spoke to the hotel who assured them, and us, we were going into a 2 bedroom villa. Finally we were taken to our "villa" which was in fact two adjoining hotel rooms. It was down a long skungy hallway, at the side of the hotel tucked away from anything. When asked about the villa they just shrugged and said sorry!
The rooms were not what we expected, they were not clean, the bathrooms grubby, the shower head only let out three trickles of water, and despite a large balcony, with floorboards falling out all over the place, there wasn't one piece of outdoor furniture for us to sit on! We went to the pool, and there were three sun loungers that we could see for all guests! We were advised that there was a shuttle to Ubud which would pick us up at 9pm that evening. When we called to confirm that we needed the shuttle they asked us to wait until 11pm!
The following morning, after a totally disappointing breakfast, we went to explore the village. The hotel had two complimentary bicycles, which we asked to borrow. We were told they were reserved for other guests. So we all set off on foot and were gone for an hour. On our return the bikes were still there, and when we asked why they hadn't been used we were told to take them then!! A little too late!
All in all, poor communication, poor service, unhelpful staff and sub standard accommodation. Most of all, not what we booked. Despite paying the full amount for our three nights upfront through expedia, something we will NEVER do again, we chose to leave after the first night and moved somewhere else which made our stay in Ubud fantastic.

First I would like to apologize for being unable to meet your high expectation. I have investigated your complaint personally. These are what I found: 1. Your check in process was actually not two hours. Your check in process was only less than 1 hour. In our log, you came in at 12.50 pm. We finished the process before 13.50 . When you came we had not finished preparing your room since our check in time is at 14.00. It is stated in our website. 2.About bicycles, at the time you want to use the bicycles, another guest had reserved it already and that guest later cancel. 3. Free shuttle to and from Ubud is subject to availability(you have to book) but often we tries to meet request by using outside transport. In your case, we called in our extra driver specially just to pick you up from Ubud. He arrived at the hotel at 19.45.He left hotel at 20.30 going to Ubud. The car arrived in Ubud at around 21.00. You arrived in the hotel at 21.45. 4. We do not put it as family villa , we put it as Rijasa family in our website. I am sure you could find a good villa but I do not think it is fair to compare our room(Rijasa Family) which in the category level of_US$110 per bed room with US$ 300 - 500 villa. If you read family villa in expedia website, we will contact expedia to change it as we did not put it there. It was the resign expedia personnel who put it when we join Expedia. Regards-John Lapian

Sure - the view is gorgeous - breathtaking infact, but I would suggest perhaps driving up and having a look around and not staying.
we went for one night, it was just us and one other couple in the whole resort.
The resort needs a makeover, the jungle is slowly taking it back there were huge bugs, monkeys, poisonous snakes in the restaurant pond, the pools look stunning, until you look over the top infinity pool to the one below and see the water recess that all the water is running through and it is full of algae - looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years, so dont put your head under the pool.
The staff are very inattentive, no service at the pool what so ever.
No wifi except in the restaurant
You kind of have to eat in the restaurant unless you organise a bus into UBUD.
When we rang to make a reservation for dinner they asked us what we would like to order so we could prepare it. When we said that we didn't know the menu they said they would bring it up to the room. We said no, we will just come down now. It was apparent that there was no chef/cook and the waiters were making our food.
The hotel is really hard to find our driver got lost about 5 times.
Yes the view was breathtaking but this place was like a ghost town and needs to be condemned or have millions spent on it to get it up to a standard of cleanliness.

It could have been a perfect holiday for 2 nights ( cliff side views, quiet place for retreat, cozy rooms) not until the hotel staff service showed how unsafe it is to spend the holidays in this Hotel.

The safebox suddenly became faulty on our last night of stay The same passcode that my friend key in isn't working anymore.
On the day of our room check out, my friend found out his money was lost on the day of our check out. I asked for any CCTV monitoring in the hallway and have to wait for a certain staff from Jakarta?! It is quite unbelievable for an Operation Manager to only speak little English. How can she better help us with all our concerns. I can commend the smiles and courteousness of your staff but Honesty should be your staff attitude priority. You do provide a holiday shelter for comfort yet UNRELIABLE service.

The location is quite far from Ubud centre. There's nothing much to do except mind wandering on the cliffside. The pool has a pretty nice view but you can't swim on it on a foggy, cold weather as the hotel is situated on the mountainside.

You claimed that the safety box in your room was broken. Actually it never breaks. It works perfectly until today. You complained that the safe would not accept your 6 digit codes, our maintenance reset the password as per your request and it was done under your constant watch. When they finished, you told them to leave it open so IT IS NOT BROKEN. As per your statement, nothing is missing from the safe. You claimed someone entered your room during your breakfast time. You pointed your finger to our housekeeping while you were here saying she is the one who entered my room during breakfast. Based on our security camera recording. During your breakfast time, NOBODY ENTER YOUR ROOM. She never enter your room. She only entered your room after you checked out. She could be fired if we believe your allegation but i guess you just don't care. She has been with us for 8 years. She might not be as wealthy as you are but SHE IS NOT A THIEF. Access to security camera recording is restricted for security reason. Not everybody can access it. You were back in hotel at around 15:45 with police , you asked for security camera recording. Our staff who came from Jakarta would be in the hotel at 17:00. You refused to wait we wonder why? Why you didn't want to wait? It was going to be only 1 more hour and you could find the truth from the recording. We offered you free return transport once we get the security camera recording. Yet you refused our offer. Even if we could give the security camera recording to you right away, you would need few hours to review the recording. You said you need a statement from the police to claim insurance. We don't want to get involved with your " INSURANCE CLAIM BUSINESS ". The operational manager was just trying to be helpful, she wasn't supposed to handle guest. It is not a requirement for her to speak fluent English. Her job is to manage hotel's operation dealing only with hotel's employees. Once again to make it clear, based on our security camera NOBODY ENTER YOUR ROOM during your breakfast time. Therefore, NOBODY HERE STEAL YOUR MONEY.

First my apology to the management for giving it poor rating which is untrue. I just want this to be read against those negative reviews posted. They deserved 5 stars for being honest and considerations for guests safety. I hope the hotel will stay in operations as long as they can.
Personally I do not think this hotel is earning a profit with half of the year non fully occupied.

I have stayed at Rijasa Agung for every visits to Bali. My visits are solo and during the off peak season which also means I can be the only guest in the entire hotel. Sounds unsafe? But no.

Years back their bookings are direct with the hotel only. Their prices are another 50% higher compared to current. All my bookings usually states 2 guests but I checked in as single, never pre informed the hotel. The management are very attentive and good in records keeping. Their staffs are minimum during the night are mainly males. I am pretty touched when they arranged a female staff to stay overnight for every night during my 2nd solo stay with them. I believes they tracked back on my previous check-in records when I asked for particular room number.

My experience was the cleaning staffs does not hold any keys to the rooms if it is occupied. I been asked to leave the room keys with the reception for cleaning purposes when I goes to Ubud Town.

All hotels holds a master key to the safe box in case of emergency. They will not open your safe box unnecessary. With Rijasa, I encountered the safe box battery went flat and I was unable to access. They have the maintenance guy to open it and replace the battery. So far I have not lost anything / encountered theft in the hotel. I do not believe any dishonest claims against the hotel.

The hotel may have aged. I love the high wooden chair in the room. All my travels, those are my well love for safety or make myself feel safer. I will push it against the door under the door handle during my sleep. Yes, if there is a fire it will be difficult to recuse me.

Is a forested area in a valley. Bugs are unavoidable. How many complaints seen on being bitten by bugs in this hotel? Just keep your door shut and curtain draw up after dark against the flying insects. The balcony and room lights attract the insects.

Speed of services should be measured against the country service standards not our expectations. If one is having high expectations for the price you are paying, you may want to consider paying for 1st class price for the 1st class service.

Rijasa has a good balance between the staffs’ welfare and guests. They stand by on the listed hours for their complimentary shuttle.
One of my stay with a few friends, we requested the reception to have the driver picked us up at 11pm at Ubud Town. 11pm are their OT hours we are told to there will be charges for overtime shuttle request. We gladly agreed. I do not wish to put the hotel in difficulties with too much details but they do go extra miles for guests during the off peak seasons if they can.
Be reasonable on the free shuttle, they have to pick up more than 1 guest during peak seasons at the town designated location. Informing the to and fro time, makes it easier for the hotel to arrange for all guests.

One thing to note will be make sure you have your mobile roaming is available when travel in Bali. The hotel really do not have connection of internet/wifi in the room. This makes a good place to relax.

As for credit and debit card blocked amount matters, amount will be charged where card holder is not allowed to use the blocked amount till it been released or refund. Refund period depends on individual banks and not instant from my last understanding. Refunds will only be reflected in the next month statement. Hotel will provide the cancellation transaction slip to the guest as a proof. Do correct me if I am wrong.

It will be best to put up reviews after 1 month from stay to be fair.

I stayed at this hotel before moving to the Kuta-Legian area. I had confirmed to be picked up at the airport as I was arriving at Denpasar at 1 AM and I knew Ubud was about an hour away, but nobody was there and had to get a cab. The staff is very friendly and they do serve well, but their English is not great, which may bother some travellers (I'm quite laid back and after 3 weeks in China was all in the mood of enjoying the last leg of my solo trip).
The hotel is located about 20 mins from Ubud, right beside the Ayung River and in between beautiful rice paddies, thus is very peaceful and great for relaxing but not good if you are more about beaches and clubbing in Bali. They have complimentary shuttle service back and forth to Ubud, which was great and worked well the times I took it. They also helped me booking for rafting and getting around. They have complimentary wireless service at the lobby and the restaurant, which works well and is great given Indonesian standards.
I was in the "deluxe room",which had a large private balcony and jacuzzi. The room was spacious but because the hotel is located near the jungle, you may find some bugs... Also, as the lobby area is open, bats fly around at night, which to me was more like fun than scary, although I had read some travelers complaining about it.
The hotel has beautiful gardens and two nice pools which I enjoyed swimming at night. Their breakfast was good with a mix of western and asian style, including a selection of fresh fruits, cereals and rice, rice noodles, spring rolls and veggies. I only had dinner there one night and noted the hotel selection was just ok, given the fact that the hotel is located far from everywhere and it may be the only option .
In summary, my stay was overall good, but I am not sure if I'd stay here again.

Just look at the way the hotel responded to all the negative reviews. They're not accountable at all. The issues are real, do not risk your time and peace of mind going to this place.

This place is not safe and not convenient for budget travellers. Be prepared to be over charged by locals and treated like a 3rd class tourist if you're not white skinned. The staff here are the worst of its kind.

This hotel, although absolutely fabulous, felt very eerie as there were not many other guests around. It felt like Caesers Palace. On arrival the wifi did not work, which is required if you wish to plan day trips etc. The hotel did not offer a scooter/bike rental which was very annoying as Ubud central was approximately 8km away. A Scooter is a must!!The hotel offers a shuttle service to Ubud but must be booked in advance. The night before we left we asked to book the shuttle bus at 8am as we needed to catch a bus to Seminyak. They told us that the shuttle did not begin until 8.30 and that we would have to pay 150000 Rp. We thought this was absolutely ridiculous that they would not accommodate us, being one of few guests staying at the hotel. The hotel is way too far away. It is definitely not suitable for a young couple. The breakfast was good with a broad selection to chose from. The room was really really nice with a great balcony view of the pool and the Forrest. However I would rather have been in the centre of the hustle and bustle of Ubud's centre. I would definitely not rush back to this hotel. We paid a lot of money to stay here and felt reviews on the hotel we read were very misleading.
