As regular guests pre Covid we returned to Puri Damai after a 3 year break.
We were so happy to be warmly welcomed back & were impressed with the way the complex is looking. Fresh coats of paint bathrooms updated & the gardens just as beautiful as ever.
Yes it is rustic but that is part of the properties appeal.
Our room was cleaned thoroughly everyday & the staff were always smiling & eager to assist us.
If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay with more space than just a hotel room. Puri Damai ticks all the boxes.
Thankyou Ayu Intan & all the staff for the wonderful stay.

Just spent three weeks at Puri Damai in suite No.6. Double bed with direct views over the pool. Overall a very pleasant experience. Staff were all very nice and helpfull with management very low key. Basically equipped kitchen with medium sized fridge - all very adequate. Only adverse comment I would offer is that the open verandah and dining area were extremely hot during the days . There is only one ceiling fan and frankly it was inadequate. The bedroom and bathroom are airconditioned very well - no problems there. Over all a happy experience and just hope I can get back some time.

From the moment my husband and I arrived, we felt welcome, comfortable and at home. The reception staff, the owner , the cleaning staff and the security staff are all really lovely.
When they took us to our one bedroom apartment upstairs I was so happy with the size. Large fully equipped kitchen (gas stove, kettle, toaster / oven thing, glasses, plates, bowls, cutlery, frying pans, salad bowls, bottle opener, and a large fridge), large 4 seater table and chairs, day bed with coffee table and then a further 2 more chairs with another coffee table and large ceiling fan with heaps of power points. In the bedroom is a study desk with lamp, queen size bed with 2 side table with lamps, in room safe, air conditioner, inroom safe, storage for your suitcases and all your cloths and also a LCD screen tv mounted to the wall which includes English stations – Australian Network, 4 movie channels and also international news stations. The bathroom consists of a large shower, the best shower head & pressure we have ever had in Bali, large vanity and toilet. They also supply towels to use in the pool.
The pool is beautiful, not to cold and not to warm, perfect to cool down in.
The thing I am extremely happy about is that the cleaning is to a high standard. The bedsheets & towels are changed daily. The toilet does not leak and is clean.
We have stayed here for 14 nights from the 21st December till 4th Jan. Fantastic location and you can access the beach by a walkway, come out to street, turn right and it runs down next to the accommodation. Right across the road is a convenience stores, massage place and shops.
Even though the lounge area is open, it is still really quiet. Other quests all seem to respect each other. At night in bed we couldn’t heap anything.
I have been coming to Bali for years, and each year we try somewhere different, but now that we have found this gem – we will be back. Thank you so much for making our stay wonderful.

Puri Damai translates into "house of peace" and that's exactly what it is - an oasis in a very popular and busy part of Bali. Situated 5 minutes walk from the beach and surrounded by restaurants, cafes and shops, all within easy walking distance. There is also a day spa across the road where you can have a massage and manicure or pedicure.

This was our second stay at Puri Damai and this time we spent all of August there and love it so much we have booked again for next year. All of the staff are very friendly, welcoming and hospitable. Ayu, the owner is a lovely lady and has the best hugs in the world! She is also very talented and designs all the beautiful floral arrangements on display.

There are one and two bedroom apartments and all are fully furnished and very spacious. We stay in a one bedroom apartment with ensuite, kitchen, dining and sitting area. All apartments are air conditioned and serviced daily and all overlook the magnificent tropical garden and pool. It is a very tranquil and peaceful setting. What more could you ask for? For us, it truly is a home away from home and we can't wait to return!

I was at the puri damai in august 2011 and have just booked to come back in March 2013 because i loved it so much, the location is excellent, the beach is a short walk down a lane way, where there are many resturants, and in the same street are some great resturants and also a great sandwich shop. And some very good massages to be had and a handy spa across the road and also a small convience store, and laundry lady who also hires bicycles.
My husband and i stayed upstairs in room 7 we loved it, such a spacious verandah and lovely breeze, if no breeze the ceiling fan was good, the kitchen had all the necessary stuff and a decent size fridge, bigger than a bar fridge, a real shower not over the bath although downstairs apartments are over the bath as our friends had the room 3 directly under us and their shower was over the bath, very comfy bed, reading light a bit dull so i took the shade off,and tv in strange position on wall but we didnt come to watch tv so that wasnt a worry. The swimming pool although small was lovely and pretty trees and garden. The staff always friendly and ready to help in any way, even the security guard lent me his kettle when i couldnt get the stove working early on my first morning, the security is excellent no one just wandering in.
I would say this is an excellent place to stay, quiet, peaceful ,away from the hustle and bustle and i will try to come back every year. The only thing they need for me as i get older is a hand rail on the stairs to get to my favourite room no:7

I have stayed at Puri damai twice now, and would probably book again. Firstly, the hotel is old, but in a "grand" way it was one of bali's first boutique losmans. Now we'd call it a small boutique hotel. It has 12 aparments only (8 one bedroom, and 4 two bedrooms) I have stayed in both room types. The 2 bedroom apartments are so spacious, see photos. Both bedrooms are upstairs, one with a large balcony and chairs. The bathroom is also upstairs. The kitchen is downstairs, eating area with table and dining chairs, then relaxing area with arm chairs and coffee table, plus a day bed with comfy pillows. Also downstars, there is a seperate enterntainment room, with large flat screen TV dvd and lounge ! The space you have is an absolute luxury. On my second stay, there was 4 of us (price worked out to only $30 AU per person per night) and it really felt like we had our own house, there was just so much room. (also there is an extra loo downstairs)
The staff are really friendly and helpful, (it is a small staff and they seem to really take pride in thier work). Pool area is smallish but we mostly had it to ourselves , so it was perfect....relaxing and quiet.
Location is ideal (Workadaru.. just off Double six) one street back from the beach. It takes about 4 mins to walk the all the great resturants along the front (Tekkor, Blue ocean, lanai, Zanzibar). You can also leave the apartment and be at Cocoon for sunset drinx in 2 mins.We walked most days into Seminyak for shopping.
There is a little handy convenience store directly opposite the Puri Damai for your soft drinx etc Also (as some one else mentioned, the spa opposite is really lovely) Eden spa...excellent massages, pedicures and manicures..all well priced (ie rediculously cheap) it is clean, with tasteful decor .If you don't want a big hotel and love some thing small and authentic, well-run, great location, heaps of space, serviced daily, Puri damai is it.

This was our third stay at Puri Damai, and like most guests who stay here, we have booked again for next year. This time we had half a dozen "schoolies", all boys, but must say that their behaviour was excellent, and did not detract from our stay at all. We were at the hotel for a month, and can only repeat what other reviewers have said about the ambience, and the great staff. Any problems we encountered were swiftly and cheerfully dealt with, and we would recommend this hotel to anyone who is seeking a place which is ideally situated, and has a quiet restful atmosphere, (but not too many as we still need room for us !!).

We stayed at Puri Damai for 4 weeks in August this year. This is the 3rd year we have done so and we have rebooked again for next year. Why do we keep returning? The reason is simple.

We love the quiet, peaceful atmosphere, delightful owner and friendly staff, beautiful gardens and rustic accommodation and the location is perfect, on the border of Seminyak and Legian. Everybody goes the extra mile to make sure your stay is enjoyable.

Apartments have both air conditioning and ceiling fans,1 or 2 bedrooms and are serviced daily. All are spacious and open plan with large dining and sitting area overlooking the colourful tropical garden. The well equipped kitchen in our apartment has everything we need if we choose to self cater, however, there are so many wonderful restaurants right on our doorstep we usually dine out. The pool is kept pristine and is very welcome after a day spent shopping, sightseeing etc. The beach is only a 5 minute walk away down a little lane to the right of Puri Damai.

We love to walk down to the beach and have breakfast at Zanzibar. Try the American Breakfast. Keeps you fuelled for the day and only costs around $5AUD. There is a wonderful day spa (Eden Green) directly opposite Puri Damai, where you can have a massage, manicure, pedicure or hair treatment at very low cost. Supermarket and shops are all within easy walking distance.

I note that a previous reviewer found noisy Australians had taken over during their stay. I think that they were just unlucky, as we have never found this to be the case during our stays, and our visit this year was after theirs. In fact we have met some lovely people and forged friendships. Puri Damai ticks all the boxes for us and is our Balinese home away from home.

We stayed at Puri Damai for a week last September and returned for 10 days February 2013. We LOVE it here. We stayed once again in a 2 bedroom villa with our 20yo daughter. She had her own room with a large bathroom attached and we had a separate room with large bathroom and bath! Our room also had a balcony, all upstairs.
The hotel is kept extremely clean and towels are changed daily. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
Downstairs has a kitchen, dining area and an outdoor living area. There is also a tv/dvd room where my daughter occassionaly escaped to get away from us!
It is close to beach and restaurants.
If you are looking for a place to stay with lots of living space, private, (only 12 rooms), peaceful and a lovely pool, then this is definitely your place

Stayed 2 nights at the Puri Damai in Legian. Very clean, comfortable and spacious 2 bedroom apartment with huge kitchen, air-conditioned tv room. Great bathrooms with excellent showers. Nice pool and surrounding area to relax after shopping in Legian/Seminyak. Good value and good location, close to Legian beach, bars and restaurants. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Not 5 star by any means but a good choice if you're looking for affordable and comfortable accommodation in the Legian area.
