Nestled close to the beach and a hub of dining and shopping, AlamKulKul Boutique Resort is favored by travelers for its location and amenities like villa lounges and poolside bars. However, the resort's value is contentious, with guests divided over room quality versus cost and service. While the staff's friendliness is often commended, there are occasional service discrepancies. Cleanliness is typically upheld, especially noted in the spotless rooms and pristine towels, but opinions on the room conditions themselves vary, with some guests finding comfort while others point out maintenance needs.

This is my second stay at AlamKulKul. It remains unchanged after many years. The property is a nice size, with gorgeous traditional gardens and design. Both pools are great, one with a bar area and music, the other in a more quiet garden setting. The upstairs restaurant serves a full breakfast with lots of options (included in our rate). The upstairs bar is an awesome spot to order a cocktail and watch the sunset. Highly recommend the on site Jamu spa. Also recommend Papa's restaurant at the front (vegetarian pizza was my favourite). Location is fantastic, across the road from the beach and a short walk around the corner to Legian street, or down along the beach to the Beachwalk Mall. Rooms are unfussy, but clean and well appointed. Our room (Alam room on the second floor near the garden pool) was a little dark, as it was shaded by the foliage of the frangipani trees, but it didn't really matter as we were only really in it at night. This place is GREAT value for money, and offers the same experience and service of much more expensive hotels along the Kuta/Legian beach strip.

At Alamkulkul we had a great family room. Because of the boutique size (number of rooms) the staff are more attentive and service more personalised. It runs 2 restaurants, 2 pools, and day spa. There is some kind of activity either night or day every day organised by the hotel from traditional dances, cocktail evening, kite making, bbq buffet, flower decorating, wood carving etc. I enjoyed the Salsa night (Wed) when a whole school of Salsa dancers come to dance. You can watch or join in. The buffet breakfast was excellent with eggs and juice bars, yes they will cook off menu items if requested. Variety of foods, both local and international, with changes each day. Gardens are maintained very well with lots of flowers that bloom seasonally. Both pools are great, one with a bar area and music, the other in a more quiet garden setting. Also recommend Papa's restaurant at the front (the Bolognese-spaghetti was my favourite). Location is fantastic, across the road from the beach and a short walk around the corner to Melasti Rd, or down along the beach to the Beach Walk Mall. Rooms were kept clean with towel decorations on the bed each day. The resort has very good leadership that develop a great culture throughout the resort. We met Phillip the general manager on numerous occasions, he is very friendly and professional and goes around talking to everyone making them welcome. Security guards are very professional, checking each car, keeping the resort secure. They will stop the traffic for you if you want to cross the road to the beach. Each room has its own aircon unit. The upstairs restaurant has great evening views at sunset. Staff at the front desk are very helpful with very good English. Staff at each of the restaurants are both friendly and helpful. The location is within walking distance of many things. Yes we will be returning again.

We booked this resort after much deliberation about the location we wish to stay in Bali, quality and services we required in the resort but still not wanting to spend a bomb.
Alamkulkul completely met our expectations - superb location, beautiful resort, top notch service but still reasonable pricing.
We had a pool in our Villa - though bit small for a pool size but still good.
Room was amazing especially the bathing area.
Staff is extremely humble and generous.
Location - close to famous eating places, spa, shopping and everything.

I have mixed feelings about staying here , stayed for 4 nites last week and had some good and some mixed experiences here.
Initially got a good rate and had never stayed beachside in this area before.
Check in was mixed , we arrived at 2.30pm but our Lanai room wasn’t ready so went to get lunch and returned a hour later with more success.
Our Lanai room was located down back overlooking the second smaller pool area , the room seemed to be a little more modern with a king bed , separate lounge chair and quite a large bathroom.
The bed was pretty hard but we got used to it , bathroom had a large double sink and equally large shower and had complimentary toiletries.
The TV only had 1 English speaking channel which was puzzling considering the amount of western guests.
Wifi was as equally disappointing and I did hear many complaints from other guests throughout my stay.
Breakfasts however were excellent and featured many options from the street side restaurant across the road from the beach…the staff here were very friendly and accommodating here every day , in fact all the staff here were excellent from the very happy security staff to the polite reception staff too.
AlamKulKul is in a great area within walking distance to Melasti st restaurants and bars , Beachwalk shopping centre and the beach right across the road.
Fix a few little things , even put a compendium in the room and this would be a great option.

A group 14 family and friends stayed here 1st - 8th of January and we found the hotel beautiful and extremely lovely rooms with the most comfortable beds and pillows. The location is perfect as close to everything. It has a true Bali feel to the resort with lush gardens and lovely staff. Fully recommend the Alam Lanai rooms around the garden pool, also the villas 113, 114 and 115 are FANTASTIC!! We had 8 rooms and 2 villas all clean as a whistle and freezing air conditioning when you need it. They even put delicious chic chip cookies on your verandah everyday 👌 ALSO most rooms except the basic Alam rooms ( of which I do not recommend ) have Club room access to snacks and drinks, coffee, Soda, spring rolls etc all day long , the group found that a fantastic added pleasure. The breakfast is also very good. We will return, thank you to all the beautiful staff who were always there to help. We met Phillip the manager on numerous occasions, he is very friendly and professional and goes around talking to everyone making them welcome. I have no doubt we will return to Alam KulKul.

Could be a really good Balinese hotel, nothing boutique about it, but poor management focus, broken door handles, keys that don’t work if placed near you phone, a lounge they totally forget about, and staff going around with carts and cleaning trash bins at 7am. My goodness. If you need quiet, this is not the place.
Staff does not even try to know the guests, food is poor quality, breakfast is small, both plain and bland, wifi is year 2000 speed, I was clocking in 300 kb not even near 1 mb, had to take the iPad to breakfast in order to get 1/3 a movie downloaded, and the list goes on and on.
I will not be back, and suggest others avoid unless you just need a room

AlamKulKul has a family friendly atmosphere- from the security on entry, cleaning staff, gardeners, reception to breakfast staff.
Buffet breakfast was great, lots to choose from with a variety changing each morning. We especially loved the Egg Station with eggs or omelettes cooked fresh ( shout out to Mr Eggman - Nahti ) who kindly did a demonstration in carving a watermelon
We had a Alam Villa which was spacious and had a huge bathroom with outdoor shower. The shower gel provided was amazing
The food at their street front restaurant Papas was good too
We highly recommend this quiet boutique resort and will be back again for sure

Bed was comfortable, pool didn't use much as we personally didnt like the layout of looking directly across to others laying on the sunbeds, along with having to carry items in water in access the lounge beds. Some people would leave towels on the sunbeds in other areas around the pool leaving not many options for others to use the pool.
Greeting lovely by a staff member each day in the foyer area.
Access to beach is a little walk, a road across from Coco store
Great restaurants nearby such as wicked patriot and others in walking distance
Rooms are like traditional hotel rooms
Our booking didn't include buffet breakfast. Price was $15 Aud per adult and $6 per child.
Resort looks lovely at night. Day a little run down, lobby area is lovely though
Late check out is available for extra cost until 6pm and able to leave luggage in foyer area for late flights

Security box not bolted down and this is “Normal” according to staff. Prepare to lose all valuables.
1st Night: I paid for a room with balcony, was put in a ground floor room next to public walk way. I say I pay for balcony room. They say “sorry we full”
Room was also full of mosquitoes
I called for room service and was told no room service tonight, went down to restaurant to get some ice, they charged me 12k for small cup of ice.
Next door Circle K charge 10k for 5kg bag of ice 🤦🏻‍♂️
2nd night: they kindly moved me to a great room with balcony but despite paying for room with double bed, was put in a room with 2 singles pushed together. Not comfortable with my partner
3rd night: I was finally moved to a room that I paid for.
Breakfast is very basic, glad I didn’t pay for it with room.
I tried the breakfast they say 105k I pay, then they say 5 mins later I must pay now 150k
I have 2 nights left and can’t wait to leave.
It’s been a very frustrating experience.
AVOID THIS PLACE!!

Had previously stayed at this hotel a few years ago and loved it but OMG how it has changed. Was greeted with "your room is not ready yet" and that was it, the front desk staff seemed very under trained and no customer service. The room had been updated a bit with new paint but still showed signs of age. Hotel has 2 swimming pools but only 14 sunbeds and 5 umbrella's between them.
My breakfast was included in the price and the first day I asked for 2 hard boiled eggs, one was cooked prefect but the other one was so raw I think it come straight from the chicken to my plate.......the second day I asked for a watermelon juice as I don't drink orange juice which is all they had and was advised they could not do it. Needless to say I did not have breakfast there again, Luber next day is amazing.
The day spa was awesome but this is not run by the hotel, which shows I suppose, Won't be going back to AlamKulKul and would not recommend until they improved.

Dear bagsgettinaround, when we asked for ETA/ETD you never gave & you turn up at the the hotel before the designated time & you expect to check in immediately, No ! bfast was not included in your room rate and if you joined the buffet, why would you request for watermelon juice which is not served in the buffet, and you description of the hard boiled eggs sounds childish. Nevertheless, we very much regret your inconvenience & we hope this incident will not deter your return to Bali in the future. Cheers

Sorry for the delay I guess its 2 late now but both pools have a toddlers pool and the main pools have a ledge but it drops off quite quickly into a deep water. My grandkids are 4,6,8 and were water savvy but the youngest just played in the toddlers pool

Not sure about that but my daughter and her family had a family room on the 3rd floor. It was not very good. The blinds let in too much light so the kids woke up early. They changed them after 3 days of complaining. There shower was rediculous. IF they had water it was always cold but a lot of the time there was no water at all. They had to come to our villa for showers everyday. The villas were fantastic.
