I cannot recommend this hotel more highly. From the initial warm greeting including welcome drinks and cold towel service to a sincere farewell; the staff exceeded all my expectations of customer service.
Everyday the staff including Dekyu, Santi and Juli welcomed you at breakfast time. They were polite and warm. Dekyu took a personal interest in our well being and provided local tips on where to go and what to see. Thanks Dekyu for you professionalism.
The buffet breakfast is the best and the items change daily so you wont be served the same dishes twice.
Hotel concierge goes out of their way to assist you in anything you need. I left my mobile phone in the taxi and Robbie from Concierge went beyond customer service contacting my number on my behalf until it was returned. Thank you Robby and Martana.
The hotels location is perfect. Close to the beach and has so many good restaurants around to choose from. For typical good cheap Indonesian food, you cant pass by Warung Merah or Sammys.
If you want to party, Cocoon is just down the road. Cocoons restaurant is excellent.
Have I convinced you to stay?
Only you can try the Ananta Hotel experience. You wont be
disappointed!

This was my 3rd visit to this hotel, but this time I had injured my knee just before traveling. I was delighted to see a gentle ramp leading into the hotel, and to find I could get to the elevator, dining area, etc without a single stair. The hotel is stunning architecturally, with broad white steps leading into the interior pool, restaurant, and fountains courtyard, but the elevator swiftly got me where I wanted to go.
The hotel staff is amazing, the rooms spotless, and the view from the rooftop delightful.

Lovely place with beautiful staff. Ideal location as it is very close to the beach, restaurants and shopping. Great position without spending a fortune.

Rooms are nice, double bed, good amenities with tea and coffee facilities, shampoo and body wash, and hair dryer. Very clean but a little on the older side. Perfect for us as we didn’t use the room much.

Pool area was cool, lots of sun beds however if it was busy you would struggle to find one. Swim up bar was really nice and the barman was so friendly!

The place was a little on the older side but still a truely nice place to stay.

We booked 3 poolside rooms for an 8 day family holiday. My wife had stayed at the Ananta some years ago, apparently during its glory years and we were confident of a laid back resort atmosphere that our teenage children would enjoy as much as us. Well…..we soon noticed there was a severe lack of maintenance. In fact, we weee told only 50 rooms in the resort were now used and the top 2 floors had basically been abandoned . The rooftop bar is non existent, our showers hardly worked, digital card door lochs needed reprogramming most days, getting pool towels and ice to keep drinks cold ( as the room fridges were set to room temp) was like pulling teeth. The breakfast was a mediocre repetitive buffet for the first half if our stay until after New years when they didn’t even bother and only offered an “al la carte” American or Indonesian “ breakfast .
Staff were friendly and doing their best but were usually hard to find. Rarely manning the pool bar, reception desk and late to make rooms up . Rooms have minimal facilities, no extra pillows, mini bar, ice , adapters , we noticed some pool access rooms had stained curtains.
Despite the above, we had a great time but it wasn’t because of the standard of accommodation.
This place was once great , is in a good location and could be excellent again with some investment and a change of attitude. Presently though , there’s obviously better options

Having stayed in many hotels in Bali and Lombok, this is by far the worst service, and overpriced dump I have stayed.
First, forget the photos, Photoshop does wonders these days!
Rooms are tiny and disappointing for the money.
I told the staff my friend was coming to stay, and she would check in late. Upon arrival she was refused entry as she was told by security that the hotel has a 'no hooker policy', we have been friends for several years.....she's not a hooker. She left upset, and I decided that I would sleep, then leave the next morning. When I awoke, my bag which was underneath the air conditioning unit was soaking, along with my electronics, tablet, laptop, and clothing. When I approached reception about the situation with my friend, I was told to wait in my room. So I waited, and waited, and waited, long enough so that it meant I could not check out in time. I asked the reception for the number for agoda so I could get a refund. The number they gave me was a local number, so I phoned, and complained, but agoda said the hotel were unwilling to help.
I decided to cut my losses and lose all my money. But when I went to leave they told me my telephone bill for complaining to agoda was $50 and they were not giving me my $50 deposits back........ They did, as I refused to leave without it, and threatened them with a lawsuit.
Please, if the hotel reads this and would like a rebuttal, I would love to hear from you, as the last opportunity you had, you decided to ignore me, and a telephone apology to my long term friend is not suffice for the stress and upset you put her and I through.

We stayed for 11days over Christmas and left on NYE 2014. On the first day we thought this was going to be a wonderful experience, however by day 2 the feeling was not the same. The cleaner had taken my ring (I took it off as my hands had swelling from flying) and when I called front desk to inform them they said they would send someone up to have a look at where I had left it last, however no one came. The next morning I went to the front desk and told them that the events and how no one had come. The lady at the front advised that she would speak to the cleaner and get back to me. When we returned on day 3 the front desk lady asked me, "Mam have you found your ring yet?" I was confused as she hadn't liaised with me in anyway since our previous discussion. That afternoon I looked around the area I had left it and shook the tissue box I had left it near, and magically the ring was inside the box. I was very disappointed in the dishonesty of the staff, I did not tell the staff that I had found the ring to see if they would ask me again however they did not. Since that day it was awkward for us to stay here as were no longer greeted by the staff member whom I spoke to about the ring at the front desk and upon checking out she made no attempt to ask us about our stay as she was already aware that we would not have said enjoyable, I have travelled alot and this was the first time we specifically made an effort to use the safe provided as we could not trust the staff after this incident. Since this encounter I went back to trip advisor to read the reviews as when we booked in october Ananta had great reviews, only to find that another lady had her Wedding rings stolen by the cleaners as well! In saying that however, the staff at the breakfast buffet was always welcoming! If I had to review their service I would give them a 10! Especially the friendly lady who welcomed us each morning and collected out breakfast token. Although, one morning my boyfriend found a worm from the spinach and mushroom dish he served to his plate from the buffet, when we alerted the staff the chef did remove the dish from the buffet however didn't apologise for the mistake. Over all our experience of Bali was brought down due to our experience at Antanta. We will not be returning to Ananta again. Price of accommodation was good however honesty should not be compromised due to the affordable pricing. Honesty should be free!

Chose this hotel as it was new and in the area we like to stay in. Normally stay at The Haven. Went for a cheaper price this time and was sucked in by the images on both the wholesale travel & hotel websites which mis-represent the Deluxe Pool Access Room as having a timber deck with the pool right outside your door - not so. None of these rooms have the decking leading from your sliding door into the pool. Some of the rooms on this level have some concrete and then the decking into the pool. I flagged this on arrival and was met with politely "All the rooms on this level are Deluxe Pool Access Rooms madam." Other guests parade up and down here day and night. Guests with these rooms are led to believe that the 2 sun beds outside their room are perhaps for their exclusive use. This is not accurate.

If I list the good and bad points you can see which ones matter to you and make your decision accordingly. Good: value for money, good location, great sandwich bar just outside called Swich, proximity to a variety of dining options and the beach, friendly, helpful staff, clean, clean, clean, aesthetic appearance and pool, fab rooftop terrace for sunset drinks, good telly, unbelievably comfy bed & pillows, good housekeeping and turndown service.

Bad: Breakfast. Bali coffee even when you request a machine coffee. NOISY hotel. Perhaps the walls are made of cardboard? You can hear someone drop an earring on the floor in the room above. Furniture is moved all night. Guests with their wheelie bags trawl up and down the corridors outside your room each night from 1900 (departures) - 0200 (arrivals). The rooms don't have any storage space. I have attached some pics. The furniture is there but if they had just put in some drawers in the bedside table and the luggage rack and the cupboard, you could unpack. Wet towels and clothing were hung outside on the trellis which wasn't the best look.

Bogans: I guess due to the price this place was colonised at certain times during the week with the dreaded 'Bali Bintang Bogan' who can be recognised by their (male) Bintang singlet, boardies, stubbie cooler, tattoos, piercings, wraparound sunnies (worn day and night) bald head with a goatie for the older version, huge guts, smoking rollies. During their 9 hour drinking sessions in the pool and after consuming all that Bintang they don't leave the pool to go to the toilet. They were accompanied by the similarly proportioned female version (braided hair) who used the same amount of foul language as their fellas. Of course, they shout all day and night, come home hammered and while we were there at 0400 a window was smashed out on the 3rd floor and shattered right into the pool which closed the pool for half the next day.

In addition to this clientele, the hotel is primarliy designed for the Asian market, hence the small room size. The roooms aren't small if you are used to living in Asia and are small in stature. Although there is an egg chef, the breakfast choices are skewed towards Asian choices (dim sums, dumplings, cabbage rolls, noodles, rice) and there is no Level 4 or room numbers that end in 4 - as that is an unlucky number in Chinese culture. Their big groups arrive by bus late at night and shout and laugh and take flash photography right outside all the guest rooms. I got fed up one night and went out and told them to shut-up.

It is such a shame for this resort as the staff try really hard to work with what they have at Ananta and it is our fellow guests who tarnished our holiday experience meaning that we wont return. It's Villa time...................

I choose this hotel when see the price at Booking.com and its look cheap, however we are very surprised to know that it is only a dirty trick to get costumers. The hotel was standard with no balcony, tiny room, many strange rules and also a hot depress rooftop on it.
We realized that hotel itself use a FAKE PHOTOSHOP to sell their property and also a dirty promotion on website so it appear like you got cheaper price when in fact you are paying double for 2 rooms. that is happened to me when I'm trying to book 1 room then it is appear into 2 rooms.
Fortunately we realized and we are force them to refund our money, Reception are not helping at all, they only concern to playing on their mobile and being busy eating snack on the desk.
DO NOT DEAL with the RECEPTION about asking REFUND, ask them to call Reservation Manager to do it. Thank you for the refund but I'm mot gonna coming back EVER !!!

Responded 4 Sept 2015
Dear Mr. Cuiping F, Greetings from charming, warm and relaxing Ananta Legian Hotel First of all, thank you for staying with us and hope you enjoyed your time in Bali. We have learned that you booked the room through booking.com which was confirmed originally by the guest directly to the online agent. We did not have any access to modify the booking. As stated in the confirmation letter you booked for 2 rooms for your stay, therefore we prepared the rooms based on your request and we believe that you are well informed of this case. At the time you realized that you actually need to reserve 1 (one) room only, we had given our best assistance by allowing agent to modify your booking due to a guest mistake which normally is not permitted. Ananta Legian Hotel is always working towards improvement and your expectations. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance and look forward to welcoming you back to better serve you in your next stay at Ananta Legian Hotel so that you will feel like the many guests who are very satisfied with our sincere services. With kind regards, Made Indayani reservation2@anantalegian.com

I stayed at Ananta Legian in October 2014. I am single and met people at local watering holes. When I tried to bring someone back to my room at the end of the night or even before dinner for drinks the outside guests were refused entry by security.

The hotel has a rule which states " No outside guests and visitors are allowed in the Hotel rooms and other premises, except in designated public areas i.e. Amertha Restaurant, Roof Top Lounge.

This was a major issue for me as I was permitted guests at night by signing them in but was refused later on. If they have this rule why was I permitted for part of my visit but stopped later on.

The hotel has good amenities but this rule is a deal breaker from anyone intent on meeting locals and having their company in your paid for room.

Best to check on the rules for visitors before booking in future for any hotel you contemplate staying at.

Bunbury, Australia91 contributions37 helpful votes
Why is the breAkfast so poor? I mean really.. the worst Ive had in 20 plus stays in Bali, choice of bacon, fried rice tomato potatoes or cabbage!! That’s it and pick an egg from a board poached, scrambled omelette, fried. It really is rubbish!! Juice that’s watered down orange or watermelon. Tea n coffee - awful. Toast or croissant with wax as butter. Why are the complimentary toiletries only given to you once? They never get replenished. There’s no life anywhere in the hotel, the pool bar doesn’t have music. The rooftop bar drab!! Such a great location and a nice hotel but just no life,, it’s really quite a miserable place unless you like sitting in your room, which is really small, but I knew this when I booked. There is a wardrobe but nowhere to put undies n socks ie no drawers. Why isn’t there a little welcome note and fruit or flowers in your room on arrival? Why are the staff so sad? Why ? When you pay for a pool access - double the price of the other rooms can you never sit outside your room? Because they’re always taken by other people!!! So many improvements need to happen here before I would ever recommend it to people or stay again myself. I was so excited about coming and having a pool access room so upset about no privacy or sun beds!! No sight of management, guess there’s a reason for that!!! The feeling of the whole hotel is we’re on a real tight budget and we don’t give anything extra at ALL!! Nothing!!
