Had a fantastic stay at Saren guesthouse. Agus is a real gem. Super friendly, super helpful.
The guesthouse has all you need, including a bath!
Brekkie was delicious and set in the lovely oasis that is the garden.
Staff are so lovely, really friendly and keen to help.

Me and my girlfriend have been staying here for a week while we were surfing in Canggu and around. The place has everything you might need and more. To sum it up.
Good breakfast in the morning, a garden in the backyard, a really helpful host, a nice room with AC, a television with satellite tv, a bathtub and comfortable beds. We would definitely come back here if you are in Canggu. The location is a bit further from the beach but if you have motorbikes it is perfect cause you can go easily to all the beaches around Canggu!
Overall a really good place.

My boyfriend and I stayed here in June 2015, and it was less than ideal. Having read the reviews on TripAdvisor, we were excited to have found a place that was a great price with good reviews. It was very cheap, and we got what we paid for, I suppose.

Our room had two beds instead of one as we had requested on booking. We didn't bother requesting to change rooms because we were too tired to care. Not a huge deal. On one of the beds, the sheets had blood spots and strange yellow stains. We asked Agus (the manager of the Guesthouse) if he could change them and he was reluctant to change it, but after our insistence he changed them.

The bathroom was nice - tub with showerhead. Just a curtain separating the toilet and bath from the rest of the room, which we didn't mind. We ran out of toilet paper, and there was no more. I went to ask for more, but no one was there, so we were toilet paperless for a time.

The wifi was decent, which was one of the only things we didn't have trouble with. It was somewhat slow, but that seems to be the norm in Bali.

The location of the Guesthouse is in a back alleyway off of a busy street, which we thought would be a good location, but it really wasn't. There were a couple ATMs closeby, which was good. We didn't rent a motorbike or scooter, which we probably needed to get anywhere in Canggu. We were pressured into using Agus' recommended driver who overcharged us a lot. We tried to book a horse riding tour, but the driver for the tour was unable to find the location. The next day, we gave the tour company Agus' phone number for directions, and it worked out fine.

The breakfast provided was okay. It was quite small, but we weren't really concerned with the size of the breakfast as it was good. We had coffee, a few slices of watermelon and a pancake the first day and toast & eggs, watermelon and coffee the second day.

We were going to Amed after our stay in Canggu, so we booked a driver online who would give us a better rate than Agus' recommended driver. Because Saren was hard to find, we gave the driver Agus' number (as we had before for the tour company). In the morning when we were checking out, we tried to confirm with our driver, but the driver backed out saying he and Agus had a "less than friendly exchange", that we already had a driver booked (not true) and that the company didn't want to cause trouble with the locals. We tried talking to Agus to figure out what had happened, and he initially denied that he told the tour company that we had already booked with his driver, but later admitted to it. It could have been a misunderstanding, but we were not happy with the situation as we had no driver.

With no other options, we ended up using Agus' driver, who again tried to overcharge us by 250,000 IDR from the agreed upon rate when we arrived to the destination.

I wouldn't recommend staying here. If you have your own transportation, then it could be a great deal, but we felt hassled into using an overly expensive driver and the service was less than great.

Dear Lauren in CHINA thank you very much for your post in tripadvisor.com regading driver that you mention where you get it cheap to AMED east Bali has not come to our place , where now i have to explain you again , the price you dealing with that cheap driver , he told us he can"t make that cheap to amed , on our conversation by phone he told me that he want me to expalin you to incrase the price for transfer to amed from the first price you deal with him. may this is miss understanding between you and your cheap driver. thats is the big reason why we recommend to take our partner driver to avoid over charge while you driving to amed .that's is the real issue . your driver don't wan to come because he make a mistake to deal with your destination ! about our bed seat , we apologize if there is uncomfortable for your stay , with the white colors seat bed is kind of bit difficult for us to keep it bright , but for sure we have complaint as well to the laundry to remove the mark of something i believe removable mark. again i wish thank you for your stay , and again aim apologize if there is any inconvenience during your stay at our Saren Guesthouse Bali

Stayed for 2 days with my girlfriend, this place is really amazing to those who are on low budget. You'll get great double bed, AC, TV (local channel), mini bar with outstanding drink, and lovely bathtub. Well, couldn't get much better than this. Kadek greets us warmly and he acts as multitalended person there. He cooks and cleans everything. His cooking is great though. One thing that really dissapointing is Wifi. It's under maintenance, but it's ok since it's a great place to stay. Would come back soon.

Great place that has definitely earned my repeat business. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. I believe they were recently renovated, and it shows. The breakfast is nice and saren's is also located near some great nasi goreng and sate places. The owner even took the time to teach me how to ride a motorbike, which really allowed me to explore the area on my own terms. A quick ride to echo beach and old man's, as well as Tanah Lot.

We stayed 4 days in this guesthouse as a base for exploring the area and we were fully satisfied. Agus and his staff are very helpful, the included breakfast is plentiful and different every day. The room is spacious enough and carefully cleaned. You can rent a motorbike on site and start the adventure. Overall great value for money!

When I met 3 of the staff they were acting clueless. Hopefully this can be resolved soon !
