My partner & I stayed at the Lokha Umalas during the recent New Year period in the one bedroom villa with private pool, for a total of 13 days (our trip was extended after our 7th day due to dangerous bushfire conditions at home).

The staff were so kind & helpful throughout the whole period, including letting us extend our stay during a busy time. They went above & beyond to make our stay comfortable & enjoyable. The staff even went the extra mile on our anniversary, completely decking out our villa while we were out during the day, which was really nice to return to after a big day.

The villa itself was exactly what we needed & was the perfect place to escape to after a big day at either of the local day clubs, markets, restaurant’s or cafes. The pool was perfect for relaxing during the hot weather & the back area received plenty of sun. The inside of the villa was in great condition & the staff daily turn down service was great. The included breakfast selection was great, we tried all 3 & they were all substantial. The only downside would be for any serious coffee drinkers, where it is suggested that a local cafe is visited.

Canguu, Berawa & Seminyak are all within a 15 minute scooter ride from the villa, depending on local traffic. There is a small set of shops within a 5 minute walking distance where there is a medical centre, scooter hire shop & various small food vendors.

We would highly recommend The Lokha Umalas to any couples travelling to Bali looking to be close to the great cafes, restaurants & day clubs of Canguu & Berawa & Seminyak, but also looking for a an oasis to escape to at the end of the day.

The Lokha Umalas is surrounded by rice fields, far away from the crowds. It is located about 45 minutes from the airport. One bedroom villa has a private pool and big outdoor jacuzzi, very nice for relaxation and honeymooners. Overall the room looks clean and maintained. The main pool has a good view of bamboo tree. You must try their spa which have experienced theraphists, clean room and nice view. The food of the restaurant also has a good taste. All the staff is friendly and smiling. But you would be surprised in your first visit, because the road to this hotel has not been paved. Would not be a problem if you are planning to further enjoy your all day in a private villa.

This was my first time to Bali and was welcomed by beautiful people. From the time i enquired about the availability till the time i was checked out, i had first class service. The email correspondence with Ms dewi, the reservation lady was so prompt. Upon arrival at the airport, the driver welcomed us with a wide smile which made us feel really good. The villa was about 45 mins drive from the airport. Had to go through narrow bumpy road. But it was worth the ride to this beautiful villa. Coming from a city area, this place is extraordinarily refreshing with rice plantation and farm animals. This place is a hidden jem for those who required a quiet and romantic location, away from the hustle and bustle. This is the place to be! Me and my husband had our best time together.

Best of De Uma Lokha

- Breakfast served to the room
- Room Service super prompt
- All staff were so polite ( though they had difficulties understanding English)
- Beautiful private pool - which we were in almost everyday
- Infinite pool
- Spa ( worthy)
- Outdoor Shower

Setback
- Too much mosquitoes at night but coils are provided.
- Insufficient lighting in the outdoor area of the villa at night.

We stayed 4D3N only. Wished it was longer.. See you soon De Uma Lokha!

Very poor customer service. They renounce on a groupon deal citing change of management. Please avoid this property at all cost if you have any special deals relating to this property.

Somewhat distant location, reachable via a narrow road and just a simple entrance and reception. But once we entered our villa: WHOW ! We were immediately overwhelmed by the beauty and tranquility that it radiated. Here we would stay for five days to enjoy the peace and each other. That's why we had chosen this resort and it really came across even better than the pictures we had seen before.
An immense bedroom, outdoor bathroom with rain-shower and jacuzzi. Also an outdoor kitchen, with all options to cook yourself and with dining and sitting facilities. Beside a large terrace with sunbeds and a pool surrounded by green vegetation.

The resort is well run by Mrs. Lia and the friendly and helpful staff. Nopri and his team of the housekeeping, who were very attentive for our wedding-anniversary. They gave it an extra boost by sprinkling fresh flower petals in the pool and jacuzzi and decorate the bed nicely. Satria, the responsable of the restaurant, with in his team the ever smiling Ebit and Adi, a real artist with fruit from which he cuts figures. Pradnya from the spa-wellness, where we underwent a great Balinese duo massage, followed by a scrub and jacuzzi bath with rose petals. Ani at the reception desk and all the others we met, they give you a real familiar feeling. And particularly that is one of the strengths of this small 16 villas resort.

Located just a few miles from Kerobokan beach and Seminyak Square (shopping), where a free shuttle service of the resort can drop you off. Also the ability to obtain bikes to explore the area around. And they also provide personalized trips with driver to anywhere at a competitive price. Great and trustful !

We also visit a resort of the same group: The Lokha Ubud. This is a brand new resort with 52 guest rooms and 16 villa’s with private pool. It’s really a fantastic place to stay, in the middle of the jungle but just a few miles away from Ubud, to explore this cultural area. Next time we will take both and they will arrange the transfers. So you will have a good picture of the interior and the coast side of Bali.

Went there by self drive, big mistake!
their supplied map is very misleading, neither the road name nor the hotel name show up on all 3 types of GPS system including google map on iphone and ipad.
Took us a full one hour circling in that area, asking multiple person for direction to find it.
It is a relatively new hotel, but the road leading to the hotel is the worst ever road I've driven in my past 4 self drive trips in Bali.
It's not a tar road, but an uneven gravel road full of pot holes that gives you a feeling that your car will fall apart any moment.
Room came with modern amenities but the safe aren't working for us even following the instruction given, and got our valuables locked in, and require the help of their staff to manual unlock it, and even the staff having problem to re-program the safe to make it work for us. In the end we just bring our passport together instead of leaving it in the safe.
Breakfast was so so only, nothing to shout about, potion was small and taste bland, we never finish any of our breakfast during our stay.
Their private pool is kinda small compared to other previous villas we have stayed, and the ridiculous thing is you've no direct control over the pool lighting and filter system which they switch it off at night, and require you to call the front desk in order for them to switch it on outside.
Will I stay here again? unfortunately it's a no.

We loved our 7nights . The staff were very friendly and the food was good. The Spa was very professional . We were very happy with the room .

The biggest problem is the road leading to the resort. It's a real bone shacker. I would not return until its repaired which is the only reason I have given a 3 star rating.

My husband bought a groupon deal for this 4d3n stay here. It was fantastic, the room, the private pool but with a cost. It is in the middle of the padi field where my driver also said it was his first time there after years of driving customers around Bali. Getting food at the streets was not an option. We had to walk so far out just to get to a local minimart selling instant noodle and coke. The main road was far out. We didnt get any food from the hotel's restaurant coz its not a halal kitchen. We didnt asked for room service but they came into our room to put the mosquito coil. Breakfast spread was weirdly funny. They have a package where you can only eat that package and you cant ask for more cereal, which is weird.

The place is beautiful & restaurant staff was attentive.
Front office desk was cheerful & courteous.

However, post dark- it seemed slightly scary.
At 2am, we heard some rumbling sounds from our garden in the villa, which scared my wife.
Our bathroom in garden villa did not have a door (curtains only) & opened to the garden/pool.

We complained to front office staff next morning & got ourselves transferred to Anantara ( we had a packaged deal with Anantara who booked us here).

In spite of complaints, staff was most courteous & demonstrated great professionalism in ensuring we checked out without any hassles.

Only if it allowed more safer nights/ with less noise- we might travel here again as most of other things seemed like a recipe for a great getaway!

Hi Not sure about the communal pool as we didn't use it. There are walls on all 4 sides of the private pool. Assume 3-4 hours in the middle of the day. Tony
