Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I arrived to Banyuwedang after 2 months traveling around Idonesia on a research grant. I speak Bahasa at an intermediate level and am more or less used to Indonesia by now, this did not prepare me for this experience. I arrive alone and nobody on this one street knows where this place is. The site lists the location as Pemuteran but it is actually 20 minutes west in the middle of a heavily forested area near the NP in the village of Banyuwedang. Again very different from Pemuteran proper where most people come for the beaches. After an hour of wandering around asking a few randomly scattered people where this place is, a local man took pity on me and rode me around until we found it. When I arrived, nobody was home, all locked up and abandoned looking. After 20 minutes of waiting around I look out back and there's a group of people who are maybe employees. One turns out to work there, checks me into my room, and tells me that even though I paid for a room with included breakfast, there is no breakfast. Then she tells me she never got my online booking (that I paid in advance $200 for 8 nights). She calls the owner who claims to have never heard of me even though the photos on the site and the hotel match- it's the right place. I get fed up after the owner asks me to wait for 2 hours for his return, leave, find far better accommodation for the same pice in central Pemuteran. The woman saw my online booking and lamented the fact that it was a bad price. For her own hotel? This was all too weird. Do not stay here there are plenty in town on the beach.

We were two couple and we were travelling around bali, we book a homestay on internet but wasn't possible to stay in this place because of lot of things ( matresse on the floor, little dirty rooms, etc ... ) after few minutes, we find this homestay.
The price was 200.000 roupias by night, enjoy to stay in a bamboo house, everybody said, yes for 175 000 roupias ( we tryed 150 but not possible ). All the room don't get isolation and the neibours don't respect your sleep !!!! Anyway, the breakfast was a big joke, if you want know what it was, go ! let's do a booking !
One time but never ever two, horrible and during the high saison the price can be 300 000 roupias, thank's to the owner.

We took a room in this homestay, because we wanted to be close to the port from which to take boats to Menjangan Island and have a place to leave our luggage. The room was dirty, the bed sheets repulsive, the toilet was half fallen apart. The good looking room in the photo is the room where the receptionist sleeps. The ladies in the reception didn`t speak english AT ALL, communication in Indonesian was just as difficult if not impossible. We decided to leave the hotel in the middle of the night, the receptionist when asked to explain to the taxi driver where to come, wouldn`t do it because she didn`t know or she didn`t want. She told the driver we were on Bali, which of course wasn`t very helpful and then offered that her father can take us to the hotel 4km away for 500 000 Rupiah!!! We paid the extra night, packed our suitcases on a motorbike and escaped this place. The accomodation in Pemuteran is very good and for a slightly higher price you can have a proper, clean and friendly homestay, the transport to the beach is not expensive either.
