Simple but sufficient, the villa was surprisingly cosy for the price we paid. Staff were friendly and nice. The setting suited Amed; quiet, off-the-grid vibes accompained with great finds like this villa. (And the warungs around the areas are great!) Only rant I could think of is the breakfast given, could have been better!

Charming, wooden bungalows with private porches and a day bed that are a 30 second walk from the beach. Small place, so doesn’t get too crowded. Calm and clear waters...irresistible and great views of the volcano. Excellent food on the beach both at lunch and dinner times and at several different venues. Free water, tea and coffee available all day. Staff warm, welcoming and enthusiastic.

Classic Beach Villas are located near the northern end of Amed as you approach from Amlapura. Travel time from Kuta is around 3 hours. Impressions from the dusty road outside are not encouraging but once inside the compound it offers rustic charm. The compound features approximately a dozen free standing villas made of timber, ratten and thatched roofs. The villas are located on the edge of the compound and encircle an infinity pool and small cafe. Looking towards the beach it is surprising to see a traditional salt making facility complete with brine ponds and timber canoe-shaped salt evaporators.
The whole vibe is casual with matching service. Staff are friendly but don’t expect anything to be rushed. However don’t hesitate to ask staff for anything such as motor bike hire, car and driver and laundry and it will all be taken care of.
Our villa (villa 1) features a large bed with mosquito net and minimal furnishings. There is a simple semi enclosed bathroom attached.
The deck areas out front facing the pool and garden courtyard featuring daybeds are very pleasant to relax in and people watch.
The beach is pebbles and black sand but the water is relatively clean. Spectacular views of Gunung Agung (volcano) are on offer.
Beach side cafes immediately adjacent offer great cheap food.
The villa cafe offers simple tasty breakfast, snacks and drinks.
It’s pleasing to see the traditional way of life continuing along the beach with fishing prahos and the salt works although these are fast disappearing to be replaced with hotels and villas.
Maintenance of the villas is a little hit and miss.
At around US dollar 40-50 a night Classic Beach Villas Amed offers an enjoyable 3 star experience and 4 stars in its class

We arrived after a 3 hour drive to what could only be described as the most overstated and under delivered accommodation on booking.com. We arrived at the pool and wasn't clean. Our room was filthy by Balinese standards. The netting around our bed was not or has been washed for some years. There is no restaurant, and the bar is non existant at the least. We paid before we arrived in good faith, and when we were not happy, it was bad luck. We have stayed all over Bali, and we have never experienced this level of accommodation. Very Disappointing #classicbalivillas

Our room was spacious, semi out door shower, and a lovely veranda, with day bed, that overlooked the pool and beach and where breakfast was served every morning. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Ready to organise trips to other beaches for snorkelling and rides into the hills for the sunset.

The hotel has no front office, since it is a small complex of only 6 villas. The pool and the view are great. It is by the beach and so quiet. The room is nice but the bathroom is terrible. There is no hanger, no place to put our stuffs and the more terrifying is the toilet bowl leaked so whatever we flushed, it got out of the toilet bowl all over the bathroom floor. The water pressure is bad, the hot water runs out quickly.
We enjoyed Amed, but not coming back to this place.

Nice simple place with tidy rooms and nice pool. Breakfast is plain but actually superb. Chilled vibe and the young guys running the place are so friendly and helpful. The amed area is a lot more quiet than the south side of Bali. Cheaper too and amazing. We hired a scooter, first time rider, and did a loop though the hills past amazing rice fields

We had a very nice stay and the staff was very friendly. We where in Amed for the snorkelling sites on the coast, and they helped a lot with directions to the different places and info about renting scooters. The bungalows where very nice decorated in a beachy style, and we had no problems with smell from the toilet.
A normal breakfast. The only bad thing I can say is that the beach is full off debris, but it's the same most other places up the coast.
Thank you for a great stay.

We only stayed here for one night on our way to Gilli T our villa was first from the beach and next to the pool, so we had a fantastic view. There is no fridge or tv but that wasn't an issue for us. The food and drinks here are cheap so if we wanted a cold drink they just brought it to our room. We wanted to go snorkelling and they organised it all for us, they took us up the road to the dive shop to get our gear and this is where we met Jeremy, he casually asked if we had ever tried scuba diving, which we hadn't, I have always been to,scared to try but he assured me he would help me through it. Next thing you know we are being measured up for dive gear and he took us back to our villa and we did some training in the pool, within 2 minutes i was comfortable under the water. He then took us to the ship wreck dive site. Jeramy was awesome and we had the most amazing time, we also went to the coral garden site, this too did not disappoint. Would highly recommend Classic Beach Villas and their affiliated dive centre Wawa Wewe.

Pros:
Comfy bed, decent breakfast (although no juice included), interesting style of villas, right on the beach with tidy front area, garden path, friendly staff, book swap, mosquito net provided (ok condition), very nice pool, aircon ok.

Cons:
Villas are loosely built therefore don't do well with noise (road at rear across courtyard), heat, insects, lizards or natural light. The bathroom ceiling is partly open (see photo) and door onto room has slats/gaps so lets heat in.
There were builders outside the front of our villa so veranda was disturbed and villa was noisy in the daytime. Construction noise near the pool/breakfast area looks likely to continue for another couple of months while they finish another villa (hopefully better built than this one).
No water refill available and it wasn't clear if the water provided in the room was clean/safe.
Entrance from the road looks under construction.

Hi, we stayed at the Classic Beach Villas in June. We had a driver pick us up in Benoa and take us on a guided tour to Amed, visiting local sites on the way. This cost us 5000,000 IdR. Our driver was Darma, He was very knowledgeable and a safe driver. Highly recommended. He also knows where to find the Classic Beach Villas. If you need more info send through an email.
