We stayed there for 2 nights and it couldn‘t be better. Bubu and his family is very kind. I can recommend to follow Bunu‘s tips and recommendations about activities be it snorkeling or fishing. Due to his network he was able to organize an awesome snorkeling trip for us with a traditional fishermen who knew all the hidden perfect spots for snorkeling.

We choose this lovely place based on TA reviews.

The surroundings:
- Amed is a small fishing village where they don't treat tourist like a moving ATM. We never felt that here. Everybody was always smiling.
- The guesthouse lies on the beach, where you can see nice corals, fair amount of fish, and the sunset behind mt. Agung. oh and if you are lucky, you can see turtles as well.
- a very good warung is only 20 meters away
- fast boat harbour to the Gilis only 1 km away
- not crowded at all
- ATM and money changers 500m

About Bubu Racok:
- spacious rooms, cozy beds, AC, marvelous sea view, you have your own beach with free sunbeds.
- The room was always clean, bathroom has always had hot water, breakfast was amazing!
- Wayan was a very friendly host, had a good local knowledge and he has his connections: He can help book a fastboat or a driver for you at a fair price. And of course he is always willing to talk to you and just keep smiling and smiling! :)

You should stay here, a true home away from home!

This place is amazing! The rooms are very nice with ac and good wifi, especially the new ones in the middle. The views from all are great, but the two front ones are best. Being right on the beach it was so nice to just hang out, relax, snorkel, get massages, and then watch the sun go down. The staff was super friendly and were bringing me free fruit drinks constantly. The breakfast is decent and you can eat right on the beach. The snorkeling straight out and then heading right for 100 meters is among the best I've seen in Southeast Asia. I saw sea turtles, colorful lobster, crazy fish with tentacles, and tons of interesting fish and coral.

Take a side trip to tirta gangga if you can swing it, and snorkel the different areas the place recommends, including talumban ship wreck. Diving is an option and would probably be great but I did not do this.

Our stay at Bubu Racok was truly delightful. Amed is a small fishing village on the NE coast of Bali, in the shadow of a large volcanic mountain. We were seeking a slow, relaxing, quiet and beautiful retreat from the mega-touristy southern peninsula of Bali, and that's exactly what we got. Wayan is as genuine and friendly of a proprietor as can be found: his discreet presence was just enough so that we felt well cared for and attended to. Our room was simple, clean & comfy. Coffee, tea & hot water were available 24/7, right on our own shaded private deck. Fresh juices were served whenever we asked. The homemade breakfast and dinner was absolutely to die for: the tastiest and most authentic Balinese cuisine we had during our entire Bali trip was at the Bubu Racok. Wayan also hooked us up with snorkeling equipment, and all the best recommendations for what to see and do in the area & how. It took us about a day to catch the slow rhythm of the Bubu Racok @ Amed, but once we caught it - we didn't wan't to leave. "Slowly, slowly.." he always said. A very wise man, indeed!

We only stayed there for three nights but we wished we could have stayed longer. Wayan and his whole family are so lovely people, always willing to help and always smiling and relaxed.
We had the snorkeling trip with Wayan's son which was great as we could see turtles and many fishes.
Wayan cooked us some tasty food one evening and the fish was delicious and it was even cheaper than in the restaurants around the homestay. Wayan even showed me how to drive scooter. :) many thanks!!!
Very clean and authentic place. Wonderful people.
Would love to come back one day.

All the best for you!!

After reading outstanding reviews on TripAdvisor we decided to stay here (as a couple) and arrived with high expectations.

All our expectations were met and more! Wayan and his family were informative, caring and tended to all our needs. If we needed snorkle gear, massages, scooters, kayaks, information or anything else Wayan would organise it without a worry. We felt so welcome and comfortable!

Wayan cooked us breakfast each morning and people really arent over reacting when they say his pancakes are incredible! He also cooked us a fresh seafood candlelight dinner on the beach our last night there which was delicious and beautiful. He did all of this free of charge!

We were in the downstairs room which was very tidy and comfortable. We walked ten metres from the room and were on the beach where there is great snorkeling all the way down the coast.

I fell sick before we arrived in amed and when Wayan heard this he very kindly asked to perform traditional medicine for me. Im not a religious person though after trying many other medicines was suprised when I instantly started feeling better.

This homestay was the highlight of our trip and I highly recommend it for anyone traveling to the beautiful Amed area.

After a disappointing stay in Sanur, we had an amazing turnaround with Wayan's welcoming family at Bubu Racok in Amed. Service is warm, attentive and impeccable. Wayan provided locally sourced grilled chicken and fish dinners for us with authentic sides. For morning breakfasts we had fruit, omelettes, and these fantastic banana pancakes, caramelized and sweet to perfection. Our meals were unlike any other food here; homey, delicious, and cleanly prepared. We were beyond full!

The location is prime; we were in the middle of Amed, close to the best restaurants, our dive facility, and the tuck shop. Being in Amed was a breath of fresh air, with Bubu Racok embracing its beauty as our balcony overlooked the waterfront. There's nothing like falling asleep and waking up to the sound of waves lapping against the shore of this quiet fishing village.

Wayan gave helpful information for our sight seeing in other cities and referred us to a trustworthy driver. He also provided some fascinating history about Bali. We took a walk up the hill to a lookout see a vibrant sunset play off the mountain as he had recommended.

Note that there is no safe here but that seems superfluous in Amed where there is a communal sense of trust and security. You will feel the difference from Sanur or other most tourist areas, Amed feels real and safe - a perfect retreat and home away from home. The other facilities, air conditioning, WiFi, and hot water were much appreciated.

We wished this had been our first night in Bali; we couldn't have felt more welcome. If you're thinking of staying here, you'll have no regrets - we had the most amazing time here thanks to Wayan and his lovely family.

Not sure if all the rooms are facing the beach. Restaurants and one Atm close from the hôtel (5 minutes walk, maybe less). From kuta you Can organise transportation to Amed. Amed is a really peaceful place, great place for snorkeling or diving. The manager of Bubu Racok is a honest local. 100% recommanded
