Great location just a few steps from the main beach with very friendly staff, always available and keen to make you feel confortable and make the most of your holiday experience. Center of town with many good restaurant options within walking distance. Highly recommend for visiting Lempuyang temple and Lahangan sweet view point.

We had one of the best experiences from our trip in Bali at Solaluna! Made and the whole team were very caring and kind. At our arrival they asked us what were the activities we wanted to do and they arranged everything for us, so they made sure our experience there was perfect. We even had a sunset boat trip with Made and after he invited us to try the fish they fished that day. It was excellent!
We booked the room with the sea view and it was wonderful.
Also the breakfast served from the Cup Resto was great.
So if you are planning to stay in Amed and do some snorkeling don’t hesitate to book your stay at Solaluna!!

The best experience. If I could give this 10 Stars I would. The accommodations were amazing and the people that own and work there were accommodating , caring, and always there for anything and everything we needed.
I was there with a friend and we had the best time. I would not hesitate to go back as a solo female Traveler I felt very safe and taken care of. Highly highly recommend I will definitely be back to Sola Luna

Solaluna was a definite favorite for us. Gede makes you feel at home in his beautiful place, he is a warm person that does what he can for people. During our stay we were continually offered drinks, and the watermelon smoothies were some of the best we had. We were also not charged for any of it.

The fridge bar was just as cheap as the nearby convenience stores, so it was also nice to enjoy drinks without having to go anywhere.

Furthermore, the wifi was excellent, the air conditioning worked really well, and our room had a terrace, as well as stairs that lead to the roof of the house where there was a striking view of Mt. Agung.

The food was excellent as well. He gave us a beautiful fish dinner, perfectly grilled, caught by himself at no cost.

As far as activities are concerned, he recommended a great snorkelling spots (including the underwater temple about 1 km down the road) which was teaming with fish, and hands down the nicest\smallest temple we saw in Bali.

He also organizes super reasonable fishing trips (at your request) leaving at 5 am, which are an absolute must if you are staying here. The boat is small, and there are no life jackets, and the ocean can be a choppy place BUT you will see the stars as you go out into the water surrounded by an army of other fishing boats. As the trip progresses, prepare yourself for an absolutely pristine sunrise, and the red highlights around Mt. Agung.

Only thing they can improve is there transport options, you will basically need to hit the streets to sort this out yourself. There is no shortage of options on the street.

Our 2nd visit at this great little homestay and we will definitely be coming back again.
Gede and his family are truly the most beautiful people and so welcoming.
We spent 4 nights in beachfront bungalow number 2. Bungalows overlook the water with spacious veranda which you can have breakfast and overlooks the ocean.
Room is spacious with large bed, wardrobe, luggage rack and good size fridge.
Semi outdoor shower with plenty of hot water.
Room cleaned everyday with a smile.
They offer free SUP and canoe for guests use.
Breakfast is included in room rate with good selection.
They also have opened a coffee / cafe which had amazing views.
Great home cooked dinner was also offered and accepted they even cooked my husband chicken as he does not eat fish.
Ahmed is a sleepy little place and very relaxing.
Thanks for a great stay Gede and family and we will see you next year

First of all:
Thank you Gede for you and your very friendly team for the wonderful days we had. :-)

We are a couple from Germany. My girlfriend visited Bali one time before.
I write that review in English, because I hope that many people read this and support Gede and his staff...!

This is my first trip to Asia, and so for Bali too. The rooms and the area were very clean and tidy. The employees were very friendly and polite.

There were air condition, and a balcony with an absolutely astonishing view to the sea. It was so calm, quiete and relaxing, hearing the waves of the sea... Really amazing!

The breakfast was very delicous and good. You have the choice between several juices, most time we ordered pineapple or mixed juice. Very good and delicious, made from fresh fruits.
I loved the scrambled egg and the banana pancake with honey. Absolutely gorgeous.
My girlfriend ordered most time fruit salad and toast with jam.

We had WiFi with very good Internet connection, so we could watch videos, and sending lot of videos and pictures to our friends in Germany.

My girlfriend and I were invited for fresh fish (first mackerel, second tuna), catched in front of our homestay.
It was absolutely delishes!!!! Thank you Gede and staff!

The staff drove us also for free to a diving are next diving area.

Gede is a very friendly sympathic guy, he talked a little bit with about Bali, family and religion. That was very interesting.

Sola= sun
Luna= moon
That looks over the homestay.

Gede and team: Thank you so much. I hope that review helps you.

Absolutely TOP homestay!!!

Wish you all the best!

Solaluna was absolutely our favorite place to stay during our two week visit to Bali and the Gili Islands. This small homestay (B&B) is located on the beach at Amed with spectacular views of an impressive volcano.

The accommodations are really nice and the setting is stunning but it's the amazing warmth and personal touch of the owner, Gede, and his family that make the place extra special and worth finding. I can't say enough about how wonderful Gede and his extended family were to us during and even after our stay. Their attentiveness and kindness set Solaluna apart from any other B&B or hotel that we have ever experienced.

Here are a few examples of their attentiveness. Gede and a local dive master explained that the best snorkeling in the Amed area is at Jemeluk Bay which is located about one kilometer south of Solaluna. (by the way, they were right!) Gede arranged to have two of his brothers take us there on the back of their scooters. Later that day, Gede personally picked us up at a prescribed hour for our return trip. No charge! Gede arranged our land transfers with tour stops from Ubud to Amed for an amazingly low price (about $35US). He then arranged land and boat transportation to our next destination, Gili Air as well as land/boat transport from Gili Air to our final Bali destinaltion, Jimbaran. For all of these he got us absolutely rock-bottom, unbeatable prices...much lower than on-line fares. Concierge fee...Zero! Solaluna even stored one of our heavy bags while we went to the Gilis and had it delivered to us en route to Jimbaran. All this was after we had checked out. The charge? Zero! On our final night at his lovely place, Gede had his family prepare a home-cooked fish dinner for us and served it on our balcony overlooking the beach. One of his brothers, who is a fisherman, had caught the tuna! The cost? No charge!

Solaluna is a family operation where Gede has integrated his extended family members to provide all the customer services and support needed at the property. It's clear that they all care about the operation and hold customer service as THE TOP priority. THIS is what makes Solaluna FIVE STARS and beyond!

For the incredibly low rates that Gede has set for the accommodations, the amazing level of service came as a huge wonderful surprise. We think that Gede has created a fantastic place that should be considered by both budget and non-budget travelers. It's no wonder that some of his customers make Solaluna their base for week-long visits.

The free made-to-order breakfasts were very nice, especially the delicious Bali coffee and freshly squeezed juices. Stand up paddle boards and kayaks were also available ... of course at no charge. The nice fridge in the room was not a tiny-mini bar but was filled with very inexpensive beverages from large water bottles to beer. It's apparent that the focus of this lovely little place is on customer comfort and satisfaction...not gouging people for bucks.

The black sand beach at Amed is lovely for relaxing walks, swimming or awe-inspiring vistas, beach, volcano and low-key fishing village life. The small town setting puts visitors in touch with a real Balinese community that has not been overwhelmed by the international tourist mega-hotel culture.

There are several very nice restaurants located within a two to ten minute walk from Solaluna. There's a dive shop and a small grocery/convenience store across the street where you can satisfy your urge for ice cream, yogurt, chips, sodas or anything else you might need.

The AC worked perfectly in our room, the effective ceiling fan was a nice addition. The mosquito net over the bed was unnecessary but attractive nonetheless. The private Bali-style outdoor bathroom was charming and always had hot water. Wifi was free and had adequate speed. (Remember, Amed is a place to chill out!) The staff was always available to address any question or need and offered complimentary coffee or tea all day long. Smiles were non-stop.

Solaluna hits the mark on every single point that a discerning traveler might have as long as visitors are satisfied with a beautiful calm ocean instead of a swimming pool. Regarding the value and price point...nothing short of AMAZING!!!!

Gede is currently building a street-side addition that will house a formal reception area, parking and living quarters for his family. Don't be put off by this construction. From the beach and bungalow area, we couldn't event tell that work was underway. It's just visible from the street

Visit Solaluna and you'll leave with an appreciation of what makes the Balinese people so kind and delightful. Gede and his family, and the wonderful creation that they call Solaluna, will undoubtedly be a memorable highlight of anyone's visit to this delightful land.

We enjoyed our stay so much! There are only 2 bungalows at Solaluna Beach Homestay, but there are other Solaluna homestay rooms on the other side of the road. Try and get one of the beachfront bungalows as they are beautiful. Room is large with big, comfortable bed, a closet for hanging clothes, a fridge stocked with water, beer, and sodas all reasonably priced. The open air bathroom is nice and the shower delivers plenty of hot water with excellent water pressure. On the covered patio of each bungalow there is a daybed for lounging around on and a table and chairs where meals are delivered to you. They also bring a large thermos flask of hot water each morning and ground coffee so you can make your own coffee and sit out on the patio looking out to the ocean. Heavenly!
We had no mosquitos in November, although they said it was still the dry season. There are good mosquito nets on the bed if you should need them. There is also a good ceiling fan in the room which would help keep the mosquitos away.
Ask Gede the owner about tours when you first arrive. His driver, Kadek is really fun, knowledgeable, and speaks excellent English. They can arrange whatever you want to do at good prices. They can also arrange transport to/from wherever you are staying and will do stops along the way if you want. We traveled from Ubud (2-3 hours) and stopped at Candidasa and the then the Tirta Gangga Water Palace enroute. Highly recommended.
There are several small restaurants along the beachfront to the right and also both ways along the road. Amed has a small, quiet, basic village atmosphere so don't expect anything flashy. However, you will find delicious meals at rock bottom prices and friendly locals everywhere you go. Check out Bliss café (turn right when you get to road and walk about 5 minutes) It looks out over the ocean and a salt harvesting area. Excellent fresh grilled tuna fillet meal and a Bintang beer all for about 60,000 rupiah ($6).
The snorkeling in the Amed area is very good. You can walk a short ways along the beachfront to the right for good snorkeling or ask Gede to organize a snorkel trip for you. Most places you can snorkel right from the beach out. I'd recommend fins (makes swimming easier) which you can rent for $1 from Solaluna. If you need mask, snorkel and fins they have it all available for rent for 20,000 rupiah ($2).We had Solaluna's driver take us to Coral View (about 8 kms away) and then to nearby Jemeluk for snorkeling right from the beach. Pretty awesome! Good coral heads and a great variety of colorful fish. There is a small (about 2 meter high) temple statue sunken at Jemeluk...see if you can find it.
One of the best things Gede organized for us was a 1 hour sunset boat ride with a local fisherman. It was beautiful to see the volcano from out on the ocean as the sun was setting. It was a smooth ride; the outrigger pontoons keep the narrow boat gliding smoothly. No life jackets.
If you need laundry done, take it to the Solaluna office across the road and for about 30,000 rupiah ($3) they will wash, dry, iron and neatly fold all your grungy travel clothes by the next day.
Gede is currently constructing another unit (or two?) behind the beachfront bungalows and also a kitchen for cooking classes. We did not find the construction to be disruptive at all. Good luck Gede with your additions to your property. You have a fantastic location, beautiful bungalows, great staff, and we thank you for an excellent stay.

Stayed here for 3 nights and was the best place for our 15 night stay in Bali. The rooms are clean , quite and in a great location. We had the 2 beach bungalows with amazing view of the ocean. Each bungalow had a mini bar. 1 bungalow had a semi our door shower with hot water. The staff are friendly and happy. Loved how you could walk down the beach and snorkel, plenty of different coloured fish to see. The free use of the paddle board was great and our daughter caught on well. They cooked us tea on our last night which was tuna and also did a chicken dish for our son (doesn't like fish) was very nice. Thank you for our stay it was perfect. I will be back
