Basic bungalows (fridge, aircon, tv) and good swimming pool. Nothing special about food, overpriced local dish. 10min walk to grab market and national park mountain path. 10min to Kep town and beach with tuk-tuk.

My party of five arrived in Kep today at 6:30 pm. It was dark, and after five hours of traveling in a mini-van, we got a tuk tuk to take us to Kep Bungalows. We had reserved three rooms - 2 standards and a superior. When I entered my standard room, the smell of mold and sewer hit me. The walls were disgustingly dirty and there was a hole in the upper corner of one wall. And I am not exaggerating when I say that there was a thick coat of dust on the fan. Then I heard a knock on my door. It was my daughter. Their room, which was right next to mine, was just as dilapidated as mine. With our bags in our hands, we went to our friends’ room. Their room was nice. We told them that we were not staying. Suffice to say, when they saw the stark contrast between their superior (R3?) to our standard room (A4 & A5), they were shocked. When we explained our concerns to the desk people, they said it could not be dirty because the rooms were cleaned that morning and the man said he personally checked the cleaning himself. My son-in-law, the desk woman, and an older child went to see the room. The boy came back after a few minutes and confirmed it did stink. Then a few minutes more passed and the woman and my son-in-law came back. The woman said we had dirtied the room. Really? We were there for about 2 minutes and knew it was not going to work. When asked about the holes, she said it was just the rats (plural) and they had put tissues in the hole for that reason. Rats?! We were told, “It’s the jungle.” Uh, no it’s not. The room, they argued, is the standard room and we should have paid the higher price for the better room. We explained that we were not complaining about the size of the room, but our concern was of the cleanliness of the room. Also, when showing them the pictures on Agoda, they said we should have known those were “old photos.” What? It was, we explained, more like false advertisement and that they should update the photos so people knew what to expect. We wanted to take pictures, but they said no. By this time, the man had reached a point that started to make us uncomfortable. A few of us had already witnessed his hands balling up and was quite agitated. We called tuk tuk driver who had given us his card and spent the next hour calling several hotels to see if they had three rooms available, which were not easy to find because of the holiday, and driving to some of them to ask if we could see their rooms because we did not want to be fooled by pictures again. *My daughter and son-in-law are fluent In Khmer. The other three, including me, have been learning the language for 10+ years.

We arrived at Kep Bungalows and were unceremoniously shown to our bungalow without any explanation about the facilities, breakfast etc., just the manager immediately trying to sell us extra trips and a moto ride. The bungalow was disappointing. In the bathroom, the shower head was partially broken as was the bathroom tap, the shower drain was blocked and the walls weren't clean. There was also no drain over the plughole in the sink meaning that a cockroach was free to crawl up and out of the sink. The walls in the bedroom were cracked and dirty, there was a hole in the ceiling which was just covered by grimy tape, the windows didn't fit the frames and there was a fan with a British plug despite there not being any British plug sockets in the room. The WiFi didn't work properly. The breakfast was also appalling, just cheap, poor quality food. We are vegetarian and asked for no ham in our toasties, the toasties arrived with ham and the host tried to blame us for the mistake even though we were perfectly clear and she had repeated our order back to us. On the second day of our stay our room wasn't cleaned, when we complained the manager blamed us by saying we hadn't left our key at reception so they couldn't get in to clean - we hadn't done that the day before either and the room had been cleaned anyway, so this was just a lie... The pool is OK but missing quite a few tiles, which isn't very safe and most of the pool loungers are broken. Basically this place has been put together as cheaply as possible, but this isn't reflected in the price at all. It's a complete rip off - shabby, poorly maintained rooms, abysmal food and rude staff. We live in Cambodia and we know you can get so much more for your money. Don't stay here.

Stayed in le kep bungalows for 3 nights! Could not warn you enough - don't waste your money here! My girlfriend and I were greeted (if you can call it that more like spotted) by the manager not before he shoved his hands in my wallet while I was trying to pay our tuk tuk driver and then gave us a hard sell of everything available at Kep Bungalows (extra tours, motors etc). He then proceeded to rush us into our room (no sign in or any information about breakfast or services etc) only for us to find countless problems with it. A dismal shower, no water pressure and scummy walls. Everything was cheaply done. There was a fan with the wrong adapter, windows that did not fit the frames, dirty flip flops and cracked tiles. The breakfast was again cheap and disgusting, my 5 year old nephew could make a better cheese toastie, we're vegetarian so we asked for no meat and it came as a sandwich, no butter, no CHEESE, just ham (how is that a cheese toasty, seriously)! We then came back from lunch at 3pm the next day to find our room hadn't been cleaned, I mentioned it to the manager and he argued that we didn't leave a key, even though the day before we locked it and someone managed to clean it still. To lie is just disrespectful. All in all a pretty shoddy attempt at a $30 per night value accommodation! Save yourself the hastle, find somewhere that takes pride in their service and values their customers.

Location is very good, it's nearby Crab Market (Phsar Kdam). I highly recommend taking bungalow for your stay than the normal room at the back. The bungalow was so good. I have been there twice. The first time, I stayed in the normal room (at the back), the room was not cleaned as well as the atmosphere. Again, you should experience the bungalow.
