We give Moon River Lodge five stars because it was exactly what we wanted - a clean and spacious room with private bathroom a short walk from the centre for a great price. It doesn't have a front desk, a bar, a restaurant or loads of staff and guests around. It does have a massive balcony space with great views...

Stay here if you want to chill. The rooms are huge and the air con is really good, brilliant views from the balconies over the river towards the mountains. More like staying at a friends house than a hotel, we loved it and stayed for three nights. The owner Norm is a great guy, really friendly and chilled. We felt...

Norm was like a friend and father to me, and traveling alone that made my stay worth more than 5 stars. He sorted me out with everything i needed to exlore the area and kept me up to date with local gossip and the weather report. It's not Lagham Place, it's not the Hilton; at 10 bucks a night it's...

The owner Norm is a gem, referring us to whatever services we needed (tours, transport and even a haircut for my partner) and providing a bike for our use. We learned a lot about Cambodia just chatting with him. Our room was high-ceilinged, spacious and Norm upgraded us to an AC room no charge. No hot water but I wasn't...

Had a very nice and relaxing 5 days at Moon River. My fan room downstairs was huge, clean and functionally furnished, hot water shower worked find as did the wifi. Take one of the bicycles provided by the guesthouse and either cycle 2 minutes into town or into the surrounding countryside, past the Kampot "port" (further ahead on the same...

Their ads say “More of a homestay than a hotel” but it’s more like “Crashing at your stoner uncle’s house while he’s out of town, but his polite hippie friends are staying on.” We never need attention at our guesthouse so it wasn’t a problem; but if you’re one of those needy Trip Advisor users who gets all butthurt when...

This isn’t really a hotel or guesthouse. It’s more like a non-serviced apartment. There is no reception desk, though you can usually find someone around if you need something. There is no restaurant--and it’s about a 10 minute walk to the restaurants in town [though there is a good restaurant at the hotel next door called Two Moons]. The rooms...

Unwelcoming. Place locked up with large gates at 10pm so if yr not back by then you struggle in the dark to unlock the padlock to get into the property. Leaking water in the bathroom. Cold showers. No breakfast or food. Shared fridge crawling with insects! No interaction with guests. Dark walk at night from the main drag...tuk tuks necessary....

This guesthouse, like Kampot itself, is a rather idiosyncratic type of place. Australians may understand the analogy with Byron 20 years ago in that there are a lot of older white men hanging out around the very laid back town who appear to like to smoke a lot ... and we're not talking tobacco here. In fact the rooms are...

The GH is a little away from the city center, but it's a short walk along the river to get there - don't let this bother you. Kampot is a lovely little town, there is a lot to do, hire a motorbike and discover it by yourself. We loved it. GH is clean, rooms spacious, there's a kitchen area where...
