This lodge is popular. So much so that we could only get in for one night in late July. We spent the other two elsewhere. But I'm glad we spent our one night at TSL if for no other reason than to sip a cool gin and tonic on the front patio, commune with the dik diks 5 feet away...

Jambo BoulderBill & Thank you for your wonderful review. Happy we were able to accommodate you for at least 1 night! And that you enjoyed your surroundings. I hope you will be able to enjoy another G & T on our patio - for a longer stay next time. "Asante sana" A. Simonson

We had a great two night stay in Tarangire NP at this tented lodge. The view from the main building patio is amazing, the pool is great for a mid-day swim, and even the views from the tents are great. An after-dark fire on the patio is terrific after some sun-downers. A few key tips found here in other reviews...

Hello beachbum_efh, Wonderful reviw & great subject and happy for your tips. What is an s-clip ? And ear plugs are not a bad idea either! = ) We do have power on here from 5:45am > 10 am - in addition to the evening charging. Happy you enjoyed your experience here. Welcome back for more! We stayed at Tarangire Safari Lodge as part of a self-drive safari for our honeymoon, and the hotel was a perfect stop for us! After a day exploring the park, we were very happy to relax with a stunning view! We stayed in a bungalow, which had a great set up, comfortable, with large windows to admire the view below....

My family of 7, stayed in 3 tents for 2 night at the Tarangire Safari Lodge in mid June, 2014. The only complaint is that we didn't stay longer! As we arrived, there were elephants and zebras in the area behind the lodge. The terrace is the most amazing part of the lodge! Each evening, drinks and snacks are offered...

We stayed for one night and really enjoyed the experience, but especially the terrace. We arrived by 4:00 in the afternoon, so had a great chance to relax on the terrace overlooking the animals. Hubby had a beer, and the kids enjoyed the complementary popcorn ("savories"), and we just sat and watched the elephants on the plains below, and others...

We stayed at TSL for 3 nights beginning of Aug 2014. I was part of a group of 5 and we all really loved this lodge. The tents were great. Sheets and rooms were clean, comfy and spacious. For the amount of time we spent in our tents, basically just to sleep, I really can't imagine needing more. The dinning...

This lodge was recommended by our tour guide, Africa 2000 Tours, and we loved it! This lodge is exactly what I had wanted for my second safari trip. As others have said the reason to stay here is the great location on a bluff overlooking a river valley where the animals are constantly coming and going. The huge baobob trees along the cliff edge are truly impressive. The main drawback here is that the tents are too close together and you can hear every word your neighbors say...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built on top of a high bluff with a breathtaking panorama, our lodge is superbly located in Tarangire National Park, providing one of the best views in Africa. Carving out the landscape below the lodge is the Tarangire River, a favourite watering place, which attracts impressive numbers and a variety of game. The scene unfolds before you while lounging on the outdoor patio, allowing you to appreciate Tarangire's diverse wildlife. At the heart of the lodge are the impressively high thatched roofs of the lounge and dining room. The open-sided design allows an uninterrupted view of the landscape and wildlife below, and captures the cooling breeze while you dine on our delicious home cooked safari cuisine. The lounge area has oversized armchairs made from old dhow boats, which make a perfect place to relax. Those wanting something a bit more active can take a dip in the pool, a bird walk around the lodge grounds or hunt for souvenirs in the Baobab boutique. Our twin tents combine the authentic safari atmosphere of 'nights under canvas', with more modern comforts of electric light and en suite bathrooms with solar hot water. We also have bungalows that provide the space and convenience of solid walls yet blend into their surroundings by using local stone and echoing the traditional round Maasai huts. Tarangire Safari Lodge offers morning & evening bush walks along the river, Night Drives and Game Drives and don't miss a massage with a view at "Patulivu"! "Karibuni" or Welcome! ... more   less
