We were on a 10 day safari and TSL was the most amazing experience of all. The lodge is on a bluff over the Tarangire river and in the late afternoon as we sat outside the restaurant, we saw elephants, zebras, wildebeest and baboons taking their turns at the river. Lovely staff and owner, loved the food, esp the way...

How great that you got to see the resident Elephant family just outside your tent, always a pleasure having them around :) Hope the rest...

Luxury style tents. Limited electricity. King size bed, end tables, lamps. Separate shower, sink and bookcase. The is glamping at its best. There is hot/cold running water. It does get a bit hot in the tent when the electricity is off so you deal or go to the reception area. Wifi available in the reception and dining area. Buffet food...

Dear Victoria P, Thank you for your review! Much appreciated. Indeed there is limited electricity in the rooms. We try and lower energy consumption during hours when guests are out on drives, so we can reduce our environmental impact :) Luckily we have favourably weather most of the year so the tents are usually cool! Hope the rest of your...

The view is very nice, pool is ok and meals are at least average. Tents are tiny and not so clean. Compared to great safari-accomodations like Kirurumu camps & Kiota camp and such, this was not very special, but cowded & touristy. Sunset and sunrise are super, of course.

Hello Aino-Maija H Sorry you did not have a 5 star experience. What was your tent number? And how would you have preferred our meals? Happy you enjoyed our location and indeed the sunsets & sunrises are stunning. With thanks, A. Simonson

we stayed for one night and we're blown away by the view from the terrace. the tents are spacious and comfortable. the pool is great to cool down after a game drive. the restaurant serves good food, and drinks are reasonably priced. when we went it was low season so there were about 10 people staying in total, but the...

Undoubtedly a most beautiful setting for a safari camp/lodge. Elevated view of the savanna and river bed. 20 or so tents in a line either side of an extensive central restaurant, bar and lounge area. Unfortunately we found the food quite average and the service indifferent. But the really disappointing aspect was that any chance of having a peaceful sleep...

Hello Madmaxjack, We appreciate your feedback and thank you for bringing it to our attention. We regret the noise level on your visit. I see in our bookings that it must have been the wedding party that had all arrived the day before - on the 6th of January. And regrettably they were not told of our normal power Off...

I was staying here for one night with my group during safari trip. Everything is perfect there! Starting amazing balcony with an overview of the whole savanna with drinking animals and ending with amazing breakfast and dinner. We were living in bungalow for 3 persons. I had here one of the best sleepings during my trip to Tansania. Fresh air,...

Always wonderful seeing animals walking by and drinking in the river, whilst enjoying a cold sundowner! We stayed for two nights on two occasions - this the best lodge we have ever stayed in. Attention to details, amazing managers and staff! The tents are the perfect combo of comfort on the inside but feeling part of the natural landscape on the outside. The view of the river in at sunrise is not to be missed!

During our game drive in Tarangire we stopped here for lunch. Two from our group had the buffet, which looked nice and they enjoyed however it was $25. Hello Catharina P, Thank you for the sandwich feedback. I would not assume that it is consistently an inedible choice on our snack menu. I certainly hope you brought it to the attention of a Waiter so they could bring you another of your preference. "Asante sana" A. Simonson

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built on top of a high bluff with a breathtaking panorama, our lodge is superbly located in Tarangire National Park, providing one of the best views in Africa. Carving out the landscape below the lodge is the Tarangire River, a favourite watering place, which attracts impressive numbers and a variety of game. The scene unfolds before you while lounging on the outdoor patio, allowing you to appreciate Tarangire's diverse wildlife. At the heart of the lodge are the impressively high thatched roofs of the lounge and dining room. The open-sided design allows an uninterrupted view of the landscape and wildlife below, and captures the cooling breeze while you dine on our delicious home cooked safari cuisine. The lounge area has oversized armchairs made from old dhow boats, which make a perfect place to relax. Those wanting something a bit more active can take a dip in the pool, a bird walk around the lodge grounds or hunt for souvenirs in the Baobab boutique. Our twin tents combine the authentic safari atmosphere of 'nights under canvas', with more modern comforts of electric light and en suite bathrooms with solar hot water. We also have bungalows that provide the space and convenience of solid walls yet blend into their surroundings by using local stone and echoing the traditional round Maasai huts. Tarangire Safari Lodge offers morning & evening bush walks along the river, Night Drives and Game Drives and don't miss a massage with a view at "Patulivu"! "Karibuni" or Welcome! ... more   less
