If adventurous and driving a 4x4, go to Purros!! The drive up there from Sesfontein takes time (3 to 4 hours) and is bumpy and rough (stones, steep hills, riverbed crossings), ... but it is soo worthwile! Super scenic landscapes, abundant wildlife, ... And the campsite is so cute! Outsite toilets and showers, big camping spots surrounded by trees, ......

If you want to see Namibia in the raw, this is a must. 4x4 recommended as the river drive is incredible with wildlife all around. The camp is visited by elephant, giraffe and oryx. The large kitchen is well equipped. We stayed in a cabin and our son under canvas. The area was private and well maintained with an outdoor...

What a wonderful suprise! On our way to the camp we saw the elephants running out across the desert, and we almost felt as if they were welcoming us! We watched them as they crossed the road towards the trees. The staff at the campsite was very friendly and welcoming and directed us to our campsite. The ablutions in the...

When we plan our WildWood Motorcycle Tours South Africa Kaokoland tours we always include Puros in our itinerary, including a night at the Puros Community Camp. Our June trip this year was no different and the camp as usual didn't disappoint. A stunning shaded camp with the sand floor camping that Namibia is famed for, functional pleasant bathroom and toilet...

The Purros community camp is unique in its own way. The 100km from Sesfontein to Purros camp is really rougth. The driving in the (canyon) river was exciting although we did not find the elephants, we did however see some tracks and droppings. Lot of birdlife all around.

The community campsite is a great place to stay if you want to do some sightseeing in the Hoarisub river. They allso have guides to go with you. There is lots to see and experience up and down the river. We went to the Owahimba kraal, the guides are well trained and know the area and its people quite well....

After a great 4x drive from epupa falls (2 day), the purros camp exceeded our expectations. Beautiful setting, friendly staff, incredible night sky, overall a special place to stay. We are skeptical about taking the himba village visit tour, but were very glad we did. Our guide was friendly and we learned a lot. By the way, if you need...

The community campsite in Purros is still one of the nicest campsites that you find in Kaokoveld. Due to lack of valid phone numbers and E-Mail addresses, we have not been able to boook in advance. The site was fully booked, the local Management found some nice other guest who agreed to share facilities with us. The Location in the...

There is something ancestral, remote and secluded about Kaokoland. The drive to Purros is amazing, from a landscape point of view, certainly not for the road conditions :-). The camp itself is secluded with lovely outdoor showers. No electricity so in the evening you sit under million of stars and listen to the breeze enfolding long forgotten legends. Robbin was...

We have visited Puros many times and usually manage to see elephants. However this time we were unlucky. The area is still well worth a visit and has an abundance of wildlife. Although remote there is a fantastic local shop in the village with , apart from fresh veg, everything you could possibly need. The campsite is well located and...
