This is our new favorite place to stay in Gatlinburg. This is an older, very dated motel with no frills, but it is kept clean and the proprietors treat you like family. The location/price cannot be beat. We have two children and the rooms that we have stayed in for the last two years have been perfect. Two doubles (maybe... More

+'s are huge room, good bed, convenient location, nice tub/shower combo in large bathroom, refrigerator, microwave, good parking, great people running it, and good rate. The noise level is very good for Gatlinburg because this motel is about 3 blocks off the main drag (Hwy 441). The -'s are a small TV set and the lighting was a bit weak... More

The owners are very nice and the workers are very nice as well . This is a down to earth family motel with no frills . Location is great to all the attractions and the motel is clean . The rooms under the first floor however are a little musty smelling . I guess because the motel is made of... More

We arrived in Gatlinburg and tried to find a room but there was some ball tournament and all rooms everywhere had been booked, including the neighboring town Pigeon Forge. We checked the side roads and saw a sign that said Bales Motel and went inside to check it out. We were greeted by a nice elderly lady and told us... More

I was so happy to finally get back to what we call our second home Bales Motel for the summer trip. I was told by the welcome center that it closed down and would not be open any more I was heart broken and was going to make the trip this year. Then I started looking for a motel with... More

I've stayed at Bales for years! 20+ to be exact! The thing I like most is the comfortable down home feel that it has. Plus the fact that when you arrive or speak on the phone, you are most likely speaking to someone of the Bales family! If you're looking for lodging with all the amenities of a 5 star... More

The Bales is great! It's family owned and run and they have nice accommodations at a very affordable price. They are far less expensive than the chain motels and hotels and the rooms have more space and amenities! They also still use real keys! It has a nice outdoor pool and short walking distance to downtown Gatlinburg. We've been staying... More
