This campground was incredible. My friends and I enjoyed every aspect of our stay and would definitely come back. The Rangers were all very helpful and the sites were all clean. Our site was in the N loop near the river. The sound of the water running nearby was very calming. Would highly recommend.

We stayed in this campground for four nights and really enjoyed it. There are no showers but we did wade around in the river that goes through the campground. The bathrooms are very basic, but on the side iof the building is a dishwashing station. The ranger talks were informative and interactive. there is a concession in the campground that...

We just spent 7 nights camping at Elkmont. Relatively few campers this time of year. I'd guess only 25% occupancy right now. We were at site M6 which backed up to the creek. Very nice. My 3 boys enjoyed playing in the creek. We also had our dog with us. All we could hear was the creek. Very quiet. No...

This was a great campground! The riverside sites are especially nice, but all of them are spacious and beautiful. The rangers were very kind and helpful, and we had short drives to some great hikes (Laurel Falls, Meigs Creek Gap). There's also a little camp store with some essentials that are easy to forget to pack! :) I would definitely...

It's got everything you need, including a well stocked store just in case you forget something-- the staff is friendly & they even have a few walk up sites that are great for picnics & day trips :) it's one of the best places to catch the synchronous fireflies in late May-mid June too.

Our site had a small stream running thru it! And an owl that "hoo"d thru the night and visited us in the morning. The staff was friendly and helpful, the site was clean and full of butterflies, birds, and salamanders. We were sad to leave. For OUR safety and the safety of the bears, I was grateful that the staff...

I have been camping at Elkmont all of my life, as a kid with my parents, with my own kids, and now with my grandkids. I have noticed lately and inconsistency in the enforcement of the rules. Last year when they changed the rules to only "approved firewood" I invested in a propane fire pit only to find that it...

If you've researched, you know by now that there are only 10 campgrounds in the GSMNP, that you can drive to and camp."car camping".(The others are accessible by hiking into the backcountry.) Among these Elkmont is the largest, and also the busiest. There are numerous sites along the water, some made only for smaller campers, and some for tents only....

The boys and I really enjoyed our night camping out here. The camp ground is very clean and offers a small camp store. We were right on the river and our spot was beautiful. There are also hiking trails available and they have an old ghost town you can walk through. We will be back.

We just spent 9 days at Elkmont. The campground was wonderful as always. This was the first time that we used the handicap site for my wife's CPAP machine at night. Everyone was great to come by to make sure that everything worked well for us and even the ranger came by to make sure we had all we needed....
