So I read all the reviews re: bed bugs. I did. But I also wanted someplace affordable, and in the end, we booked 5 nights @ this Y. I really, really, really wish we'd heeded the reviews. Our first night there, they tried to put us (a couple) in a room with only a bunkbed, even though we had paid...

the first room we were in had bed bugs, but they changed our room straight away and had all our stuff cleaned, nice staff, cool area.

While we were very concerned about staying in this location, the price for the length of stay could not be beat. Having to go down the hall to use the restroom or to take a shower was also somewhat of a concern, however, it was not an issue. We were alson concerned that we were going to be cold in...

Stayed here in mid-2006 so I'm not sure how much things have changed now (early 2009). But I can tell you that I am (a) particularly security conscious and (b) a bit of a clean freak, and I didn't have problems at Greenpoint YMCA. It's a 5-10 minute walk from the subway. The area seemed safe - quite suburban -...

I booked a room a few months a ago - never got a confirmation, just an e-Mail with the dates of my planned reservation with the lines "THIS IS NOT A CONFIRMATION". I wrote them an email, asking for a confirmation no answer. No confirmation. Booked another room in another hotel and send another mail to the YMCA Greenpoint to...

This was the second time I stayed at this hostel and was really dissapointed with the way I was treated. My room was pinned (locked so the key won't go in) after an organisational mess up (I had paid up to the end of my 3 weeks there). I'd arrived back late in the night to find my door left...

I stayed in room 207 for three nights last week, got about 20 bites from bedbugs. The management was familiar with the situation but didn't care - after I complained and moved out they rented the room out again the same day. I did get a refund for two nights, which is a joke considering I had to throw away...

We stayed at the Greenpoint YMCA August 2-10. The rooms are basic and clean. HOWEVER- on day 5 of my stay I noticed I was getting huge hive like itchy swells on my arms and legs. Throughout the day more and more splotches showed up until I was pretty much covered in what I thought were hives. I came to...

Wanted a centrally located, clean and safe place to stay on relatively short notice and got all of these things with the Brooklyn YMCA. Our simple 'Deluxe' room fit the bill with 2 twin beds-the AC was a relief from the summer heat. The room and bathrooms were clean, with no bugs or vermin and sight. Staff were friendly enough,...

I have stayed at Greenpoint YMCA in April 2008 for 10 days. The staff were absolutely fantastic and (even when very busy) good fun. The room (deluxe) was very clean, equiped with a working TV, AC, and a table fan. The furniture was in very good condition. Never spotted any cockroches or mices. The Breakfast is included as well as...

“During my first stay in this hostel I slept on third floor, and I had to get down to second floor to the bathroom, but the room was really nice and renovated. My second visit in August was on the second floor in the end of the corridor, where the bathroom was more accessible but the wifi does not working (i had to go to the internet room and connect my laptop over there... )”
