While searching for someplace to stay the night before my husband's early-morning appointment at Dana Farber, I discovered this gem. From the moment that we stepped inside from the driving, icy rain, I felt at home. A table of snacks greeted us, incuding a glass cake stand layered with chocolate cookies. The young man that checked us in was friendly and...

This inn exceeded our expectations by far! The room included chocolate covered strawberries, an awesome breakfast which included apple, cheddar bread pudding (who knew bread pudding could be so delicious?), homemade fruit salad, hard boiled eggs, homemade parmesan scones, homemade apple yogurt bread, crescents, dry cereal and more. When you arrive, there are homemade cookies, chocolate covered almonds, and other...

I have not yet stayed at the inn, but I can say I had a similar booking experience as Amy R. -- almost exactly, with a room available before I had my voucher number, but then gone when I called back the next day (though I was never told they would hold it for me). But I found the staff...

The Samuel Sewall Inn is housed in a beautiful, old building that is immaculate, well-kept, and tastefully decorated. We stayed in room #2, which is spacious and has a charming working wood fireplace and a super comfortable bed. The bathroom, however, is a little tight, with virtually no place to put your toiletries. A shelf would help... Having a parking...

Disclaimer: I did not actually stay here. But based on their amazing phone service, I would absolutely choose this B&B next time if possible!! I couldn't make my reservation due to emergency-condition weather (Hurricane Sandy), and the manager issued me a full refund without hesitation. On top of this, my wallet had recently been stolen (not my luckiest trip...), and...

I'm posting the same review for bothThe Bertram Inn and The Samual Sewall Inn since they are managed by the same people, share staff and kitchens, and are across the street from each other. These very nice B&B's are located in Brookline, just outside of Boston. We’ve stayed at each several times over the past two years since our daughter...

My daughter and I stayed here to attend a college open house. We were greeted warmly by a very cute and delightful young man who helped with our bags and got us settled in our very comfortable room. The beds were cloud-like, and the room was homey and charmingly decorated. We had a very tasty hot breakfast along with a...

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Samuel Sewell Inn and loved it! Our room was cozy and clean, with a huge fireplace and a warm, comfortable bed. We took advantage of the chocolate covered almonds, coffee/tea and cookies that were left as late-ish night snacks, and caught up on world news with the plethora of local and national papers...

A good base for a stay in Boston, only a very short walk to the "T" with quick access into the city and only a little further to the shops and eating places of Coolidge Corner. A walk down Longford Ave leads to the 'Emerald Necklace', the linear walk that can be followed into the city or out further into...

We've stayed at The Samuel Sewall Inn a number of times in the past. Last week we stayed and were surprised to see that they have somehow managed to improve upon an already perfect Gem. The Host is quick to offer to carry your bags to your room. This is a big plus as there aren't any elevators in this...

“While we had the same room for two different stays, we did see some of the other rooms which were also very nice. We had a basic queen size room which was perfect for my husband and myself.”

“Room 4, a corner room on the ground floor, is very nice and has a window air-conditioning unit and a floor fan that were perfect for keeping the room cool. There is a working fireplace for winter that I'm sure would create a very cozy atmosphere. This standard room worked well as a single; it might be a bit small for a double as there is no closet and I used convenient hooks on the wall with hangers for my clothes. I saw the other three rooms on the ground floor and they are all quite a bit bigger.”
