We were in room 17. Nice view very old buy acceptable room. Clean & the staff were very very nice. The continental breakfast hit the spot. We had dinner there on a Sunday nite and wish we could have eaten there on Monday as well....More
I have eaten at Capt. Whidbey's numerous times, but never stayed there. It was relaxing, quiet and everything I needed it to be. Dinner was excellent (the 2015 chowder and a caprese salad). The view at breakfast couldn't have been better. The room was comfortable...More
Perfectly charming! Rustic in the very best sense of the word. I waited more than 40 years to make it back to The Captain Whidbey Inn after dining there once as a teenager. I was so impressed with the facility and setting that I spoke...More
We came here on a whim, and they thankfully had two cabins (side by side) for our family of four on a Friday night. We had dinner in the restaurant- excellent martinis and pasta, and chicken. The rooms themselves were just right, and they have...More
The Inn overlooks Penn Cove, and has chairs on the deck or the grass for sitting out. We had a room in the Lagoon Building. This building is away from the water, but overlooks a grassy area with lagoon. The rooms were a little dark...More

I am sorry your experience at Captain Whidbey was so dismal. I don't know what question you would like me to answer, other than the fact that obviously our experience was different. I am on a diet, so when we eat out (especially when we don't have a refrigerator for leftovers) we usually just get appetizers where we can control the portions. We enjoyed ours very much. We stayed at the inn prior to peak tourist season when the weather was cooler and there were no fruit flies to pester us. The lodge was hosting a wedding, so things were busy over there. Regardless, our needs were met. (Our amenities worked fine at the time and we had no need to contact the front desk once we were in the room.) That being said, I would certainly also be upset, if our experience had been like yours.
