I was surprised by my boyfriend (now fiancé) with a beautiful proposal in Central Park. We stayed overnight at the Arthouse Hotel and our stay was phenomenal. The room was clean and stylish, with a nice view. The manger Barbara was very sweet and accommodating. She even made sure we had champagne in the room awaiting our arrival. Next time we are in the city, we are booking there again!

We've typically stayed around the corner at another boutique hotel, but the bar at this one had us intrigued, so we decided to give it a try on this visit to New York. Room was on the smaller side but absolutely fine and clean; bed was very comfortable, and bathrooms updated, etc. It's nice having the (delicious!) pastry breakfast and bar options, though they both seemed understaffed at times. Lobby is lovely and nice for a cozy break or breakfast. Location and price really can't be beat. As for cons, It's across from a fire station, and the street noise was considerable. I don't think there was a fridge in the room, and the shower was barely adequate, pressure wise. Also believe the cleaning person may have had a bit of a vendetta when we didn't leave a tip the first night (we didn't have the right cash denomination and intended to leave one at the end, though I know that's not ideal)- our alarm went off at 6 am though it hadn't the night before and we certainly didn't set it that early for our holiday, the coffees were replaced with tea, there were no washcloths, and the shower head was oddly placed so that a shower would have been impossible without some work re-locating it... all micro-aggressions we couldn't definitely pin on anyone, but seemed to be making some statement... Cleaning lady on our last day (different woman) was very aggressive - pounding on doors at 9 am and looking very disappointed when I told her we'd be leaving at check out time. Still. I'd probably stay here again because it was nice having the bar/breakfast nook option the other hotel no longer offers because of Covid. Would hang out my Do Not Disturb sign and hope my neighbors would as well, so as not to hear the banging on their doors either!

This is a small boutique hotel with not many amenities. But it is very nice and well kept. The rooms are an adequate size and you can stay here for under $200 a night. It’s in a good neighborhood. Away from all the crowds but still hear restaurants and bakeries.

Can't speak for the hotel experience, but barman Chris' New England Old Fashioned was one of the best and most memorable I've had. 10/10 would go there again just for that. I'm told there's usually live Jazz outside of Covid times, too! Will be back for sure, maybe even to stay next time! Thanks Chris, Matt from London.

The Arthouse had potential to be 4 stars. The check-in was like visiting the assistant principal’s office in high school. I got the impression that the staff was stressed by the surge of visitors after the COVID slump. They were working hard and perhaps had been understaffed. Our room ( corner Broadway view) was comfortable and quiet. The hotel is in need of small repairs and touch-ups in many areas. The location is perfect for walking to Lincoln Center events and to some great NYC retail establishments. There’s good subway access as well.

Thank you for your feedback. While we are happy that you enjoyed most aspects of your stay, we regret that others were not up to par. We're glad that you enjoyed your comfortable and quiet room with a nice view. It's great that you appreciated our prime location in NYC in walking distance to many attractions and transportation services. However, it's unfortunate that you had noticed a decline in the condition of our hotel and regret that being understaffed served as an inconvenience. We will discuss your concerns with our team to improve in the future. We look forward to hosting you again for an even more positive stay.
