My first time staying at the Waldolf Astoria in New York was a pleasant surprise after all the negativity I read on Trip Advisor. A beautiful old and historic Hotel, checking in very quick and easy, our Quadruple Superior room was very clean and freshly decorated,on a negative note it was a shame that free wifi was only in reception area and...

This hotel is exactly what you would expect ." Old world glamour oozes " from the decor to the service . The atmosphere is brilliant as the hotel is bustling with guests checking in or enjoying cocktails or fabulous food The only critisism was the check in . I know it's Christmas and very busy however when guests are queuing...

Dear LizzyS123, Thank you so much for the wonderful review. As you might imagine, a rating such as that make the review sessions we conduct daily much more rewarding. I am so glad the decor of the hotel was displaying the sort of charm you noted. I am a big fan of the art deco look and the holiday decorations...

Let me begin by saying I had extremely high expectations for the hotel. I really did. But then it started going wrong. The receptionist had the speed of a sloth, and it took us half an hour just to check in. After that, the bell boy took over HALF AN HOUR!!! to bring our luggage up. It's not that much...

Dear francetocan, I am very sorry we disappointed. The check-in experience clearly failed and it is difficult to recover from a bad start. The process at the front desk is designed to be relatively quick, with the provision of payment method, assignment of the room and little else normally necessary. I don't know what would have created such a lag....

Great location. Booked for a 60th birthday and family reunion. Was planning a stay at a majestic hotel. Unfortunately a vintage hotel does not offer the same quality as a vintage wine. The room was reasonable in size, but very dated. Everything needed change from the drapes to the carpet. The lobby is grand and impressive with a particularly interesting...

Dear Marco_Pole2k Thank you for spending such a milestone birthday with us. New York is such a great setting for personal mile markers and we think the Waldorf is a great choice. Our rooms indeed still have the bed skirts and valances of the traditional setting; large heavy brocade drapes reminiscent of the days when art deco was replacing beaux...

We really wanted to love our stay at the Waldorf, but it just didn't live up to our expectations. We arrived about 10 am and told the room would not be ready until 3pm. They held our luggage while we walked about the city and then came back around 3:30. The line was intense. With only three people working the...

Dear KCW25, I apologize your arrival experience was not high quality. In truth we become resort-like in our guest profile at this time of year. A result is that no one arrives later in the day and rare is the early departure. Thus we are unable to provide access to early arrivals with the frequency you or we would like....

I was a bit leery about booking here due to some of the reviews saying the rooms were "tired" or "worn out". But my wife had wanted to experience "The Waldorf". Beautiful, as expected, upon arriving in the lobby. I was pleasantly surprised that the room was perfect. Clean, neat. Not particularly "modern", but consistent with a grand old hotel...

Dear Scott C, Thank you for the wonderful review. I am so glad your wife had a great time as we want to support all those spouses looking to take care of the S/O! We have a variety of methods whereby we receive guest feedback and not all provide that feedback in consistent ways. I suspect many would be surprised...

Without a doubt, one of the worst hotels in NY, and I've stayed everywhere. The infrastructure is tired and beyond worn. Amenities are cheap (gross linens and towels). Furniture was disgusting and the place is dirtier than the subway. Thank god the Chinese bought the place and if they were smart, they'd burn the mother down and start over. Incredible...

Dear hmay3, Your review was a difficult one to read as we take great pride in the Waldorf and maintain an intent to live up to the experience virtually all expect as they ascend the Park Avenue steps for the first time. I am very sorry we did not deliver. In this forum we receive a varied level of feedback,...

The room was big and cozy but a little bit old I thought. The meal was ok but if you want to have a good meal , there is a really great breakfast place across the hotel. National is the name of the cafe, soooo good pancakes, omelets etc... Costed like 100 dollars for one breakfast but it's worth it.

Dear Meguminboo, Thank you for your review of our hotel and of course for staying with us. I am so happy the room size exceeded what you anticipated. As veteran Waldorf guests will recognize, many of our rooms have enormous appeal in terms of size. We admittedly are not the lacquer and black glass look- much more traditional. Thank you...

Dear Mr. Griffiths. I was taught early in my hospitality classes that a hotelier should strive for perfect scores everywhere except value for price paid. If that is high, you are underpriced!. Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
