Like any hotel of this age, the rooms (particularly the less expensive and smaller rooms) could use a bit of an update. Frankly, its part of its charm. That being said, the staff are what will keep me coming back. From the front desk, to the bellmen, you really couldn't go wrong. In particular - Toro who went out of...

this hotel carries a rich past, you can enjoy the architecture, public areas etc and perceive some of it´s old grandeur. Nowadays, probably because of market reasons, it has been turned in another huge hotel as many others in the big apple. The ususl services, and amenities, a central location, and clean rooms. just that!

I didn't know that we had stayed in a piece of American history until I read the recent acquisition news. The landmark is located at Park Ave, near to Metro, 5th Ave, WTC & Rockefeller yet away from the bustle and bustle. It is a beautiful piece of architecture. The hotel lobby exudes an air of new world charm. Since...

We changed our original plan to stay elsewhere in New York, and choose the Waldorf as it is an iconic hotel. Its location on Park Avenue was easy to reach from JFK coming in from Queens. Check -in was quick and we were to use the Lexington Elevators to get to our room on the 11th floor room1147 which was...

Dear BAZANG, Thank you for choosing the Waldorf Astoria as your host! Our heritage certainly does precede us in many cases, and I am thrilled to read that this is what brought you to the Waldorf after canceling another reservation you made at a different hotel. This is a very nice hotel for a very reasonable price!! We had a room on the 12th floor. It was decorated beautifully, not tired or worn at all and extremely clean. The bed was super comfortable - loved the pillows . Great bathroom with great water pressure and thick luxurious towels and did I already mention....extremely clean. There was...

We stayed at the hotel the weekend of Jan 2. The lines to check in were crazy. Our room wasn't ready, so they said they would text us when it was. We got the text and had to wait in yet another line. This one lasted for about 30 minutes... way too long! The only other complaint I have is...

Great stay in one of the most historic hotels in New York. Started our honeymoon here and were not disappointed - nice to be part of such a vibrant place. Well located, rooms large if in need of an update (we were on 20th floor but only a view of neighbouring buildings) but just loved the atmosphere of the hotel....

Beware of this hotel. Just because it has the name Waldorf Astoria does not mean that you will be blown away. The hotel rooms are small and they could use an update. The Waldorf had some very basic issues that I would not have expected. Check in is slow (like 15 minutes). The common areas are still lovely but the room was in need of repair, with battered furniture and peeling wallpaper; and a good cleaning. It compared unfavorably with other "grand old hotels" that I have visited recently. It was more...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
