Close proximity to grand central subway station, shopping, dining, pharmacy.

Polite and accommodating staff including the breakfast buffet staff who were very kind to us.

Comfy beddings, enough space for 2 people especially for New York city standards

About $40 uber ride from LGA, easy uber ride to anywhere and back.

We stayed at this hotel in April 2019 and we are only just posting a review now because ‘time’ and life got in the way. The Westin New York Grand Central is amazing!!

From the moment we checked in we were made to feel special. Every member of the team were courteous and professional and exemplified the values of Marriott by putting people first and pursuing excellence. My wife and I were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and on check-in we found out we had been upgraded to the Presidential Suite!! This was totally unexpected and a real privilege.

Our room was on the 41st floor and faced E. 42nd Street with a fantastic view of the Chrysler Building. The Presidential Suite is pure luxury with a spacious living and dining area and a large bedroom with extremely comfortable king bed. I now know why they call it the Heavenly bed. The bathroom was also very spacious and well equipped. Our room was cleaned every day and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.

The hotel is in a good location with Grand Central Station a few hundred yards away. Shopping options were easily accessible on foot and there were plenty of restaurants to choose from close by. Don’t forget The LCL: Bar and Kitchen located at the hotel. The food was very good, service was great and it wasn’t too badly priced for Manhattan.

I am now planning to return to NYC this year to celebrate my 50th birthday with my family & The Westin New York Grand Central is where I will be staying. I highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed in this hotel for 1 night and was told upon check in that I can get free breakfast. So I took advantage of this offer. Once I got home from my trip from NYC, I was so disappointed to see that they had charge me about £22 for no good reason. It seemed like they charged me for their breakfast which was at a rip off price anyway and choice of breakfast honestly wasn’t that great. I would rather have gone to ihop or McDonald’s or even the eatery next door! I even tried to email the accounts team to query what this £22 is for. They emailed me back with some lame reply that they charge every guest this amount of money. They also charged my friend too who was a guest.

In my honest opinion this hotel was lovely appearance wise and location but people need to be warned about the unnecessary charges. When I stay at a hotel I want to know what exactly I am charged for not that every guest is charged this amount for no genuine reason. I’ve never experienced this before and utterly shocked.

Especially when I got no reply back asking what exactly this amount of money is for.

On the plus side grand central station is seconds away from the hotel, and Broadway is a walking distance too.

If I ever come back to this hotel again I would speak to a manager and demand to know about extra charges especially if I haven’t used any facilities or taken from the mini bar etc!

Arrived very early - room was understandably not ready and left phone number for them to call me when room was ready. Phone call never happened. When I got back later in the day the room delivered was two double beds. I had reserved one king. Upon delivery of room I was not given the water that is typically gratis for a titanium elite. Both front desk contacts were less than efficient and delivered attitude with their service as did the concierge when I asked to check a bag. She sent me to a closed door where no one was then was most annoyed when she had to go find someone. In the am there was a wait because it looked like 2 out of 3 front desk personnel were on break at the same time and the one agent was busy with a guy taking forever to check in. The one in the morning took forever to check me in too which seemed ridiculous when the reservation had been made on line. You are given a sheet of what you get for a $30 extra. Maybe that is why everyone takes so long as they explain “the policy” of the non negotiable extra that is not disclosed on line. Did not like this feature at all as I do not need two bikes a yoga lesson and breakfast so did not want to pay for items not needed or received. There was no indication in the room of in room dining and the desk agent did not inform of any services available so I used the “service express” button on the phone. Received a fast busy after 3 tries so assumed it was not available and had gone by the wayside with covid. Only later, after going down to the bar for something to eat, and when I called the operator for my water I learned that there was in fact in room dining. Radio/phone next to the bed had not been updated to new spring forward time. This is a nit but a pile on after really frustrating service. Was unable to go the sleep as there was. Instruction happening next door that looked like it was going to go on all night. They did move me to a different room but wanted me to come down to the lobby for the key! I pushed back and they sent someone up. I stayed the night before in the residence inn a few blocks away for $250 less per night which included breakfast and no hidden charges with a very pleasant front desk staff. The week before I stayed at the Ritz Carlton where the service and rooms justify the price. Frankly the Westin is not worth the price tag anymore. I used to love staying at a Westin but since Starwood merged with Marriott they are now nothing more than a Marriott with better sheets and light fixtures at a substantial higher price. Incidentally, in the bar restaurant they add an automatic 20% gratuity, and the service did not warrant this amount as I had to hunt her down for the check. For a place that has probably been hurting the last two years due to Covid they are doing nothing to satisfy my need for service or to get me back. There are many fine other options available. Will not return.

Stayed here 7 nights over new year as a family of 8 (2 x double, 1x double, double for 2ad 2 kids) and we had a fabulous stay!

Double rooms very spacious, especially for New York. Family room spacious but in need of a refurb. Rooms are traditional with dark wood etc yet comfortable. Bathrooms also fine but could do with a bit of TLC. All amenities included so no need for shampoo, conditioner etc.

Location is absolutely perfect, Chrysler building across street, Grand Central station 2 mins walk and times square 10 mins. Bryant park 5 mins along the street and rockefellar 10/15 mins walk. Central park and Empire state also easily reached on foot 20 mins walk or so.

Bar/restaurant in hotel is expensive but wonderful. The resort fee includes either breakfast or bar tokens.

Hotel staff are brilliant! Very pleasant and friendly/helpful.

Housekeeping are also very good but we asked for our room to be vacuumed a few times as its not customary to be vacuumed daily but due to our messy kids leaving crumbs everywhere we really needed it. However, the vacuums are either needing replaced or they were not very thorough as carpet was still a mess. Otherwise, the rooms were turned over daily with new towels whenever needed.

Reception staff and concierge were fantastic.

Tip…there is a 99c pizza across the road and first left where you can get 18inch pizza for $8. Ideal for our fussy kids in an expensive city.

You can get the hop on bus at times square,a 15 min walk along the street (42nd street.)

Overall, perfect hotel for city break, our family felt safe,we had everything we needed so close by (our 6 year old took ill and the CVS on corner is open 24hours so we were able to get medicine at 2am). Staff are so helpful i would definitely recommend this hotel. It is beautiful and close enough to the ‘biz’ without being in the mad mash of times square. Loved it!

Having booked 8 nights over Christmas at the Westin, returning was deja vu. We stayed at this hotel when it was the Helmsley in 2002 and 04. Having returned many times to NYC we switched to the Grand Hyatt but thought we would return to check out the Westin. Our room #3517 on the 35th floor was comfortable and we were pleased. Concerned about being close to the elevator, it wasn't much of a bother for noise even though the hotel was very busy. The king bed was comfortable, the room was clean however housekeeping was not consistent. Dirty glasses would not be removed, complimentary bottled water was not replaced, etc. I realize it was during the holiday season, but housekeeping could have been better. The resort fee wasn't an inconvenience as we were given vouchers for daily use at the hotel for either breakfast or drinks in the lounge. Overall, I would choose to stay again at the Westin.

Our experience was very good. The staff were kind from the time we arrived. Checked in by Niti who was extremely pleasant even though it was very early in the morning and ever time we saw her she kindly remembered us. Housekeeping on the 30th floor was wonderful and she did a great job daily- and she kindly asked when we wanted our room to be cleaned which allowed us the much desired quite times in the morning. The concierge, Sandra went above and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable! She gave a ton of suggestions and it wasn’t just a pre-typed list handed to us, she made it personal to what we desired. The hotel is in an ideal location and we could walk easily to some of the major places we wanted to see like Time Square, Rockefeller Center and Broadway. The doorman, Hector was on point and made swift arrangements for our transportation and ensured if we had any issues we could reach out to him. Overall our stay was great and we will definitely keep the Westin NY Grand Central at the top of our list when we return to NYC

Location is amazing, staff are super friendly and accommodating and the hotel itself is very nice. We had an end room on the 34th floor that was comfortable and clean with a great view of the city. We were there for three nights, and I believe the hotel was only open to 50% capacity. They did not have any food service, but the bar was open 2 of the nights we were there serving up cocktails. I believe the bartenders name was Amy (I had a few) and she was awesome!

Check in/out was smooth and easy, housekeeping was super responsive to requests and needs. It was kind of strange that the rooms had the small refrigerators removed, given it is nice to keep water cold. We also did not have the Westin "robe" that was profiled as being in the room. Not that that is a huge thing, but if you have never tried on a Westin robe you are missing out. I would absolutely stay here again.

We are a family of 3 who arrived the very day the hotel reopened after the Covid closure . The hotel has gone through a large renovation. Our room was cozy , modern and surprisingly large for a Manhattan hotel . The location is very central and non touristy which makes it great for walking round the area . The staff were great and despite the difficulties of restarting a hotel after a year they really went out of their way to help all guests . The GM Candace was awesome on numerous occasions she came up to our room to make sure we had everything we needed . Due to Covid the food and room service remain closed . Awesome location , clean hotel and great staff .

First of all I hate Resort/destination fees. Just include them in the rate, please. Even with this we booked the Westin Grand Central for a change as we wanted to spend time on the East side.

Confusion at the check in as the associate told us we get free breakfast due to our "status" with Bonvoy but that we also get free breakfast from the destination fee. That didn't sound right as I can't see them being able to feed EVERY guest breakfast in that small space, but I can't find the description for what the destination fee provides on the website.

Room was fine and quiet, with a slight view of the Empire State Building. Clock was unplugged and no body wash in the shower in the refillable container. Hotel doesn't provide housekeeping (why?) unless requested. Thick shields at the check in desks made it hard to understand the associates (and vice versa) so heads go around the shields and masks come off. Not a good plan.

VERY expensive parking at the hotel, less than half the price a block away using an app

Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us, Northern_Traveler00. We're glad to hear you had such a great experience with us. We care about the satisfaction of our guests so we appreciate you letting us know what we can do to make your stay perfect. We'll make sure to communicate your feedback to our team. As an elite Bonvoy guest, you are entitled to a welcome amenity which consists of 1000 Bonvoy points or daily breakfast for two. The destination fee also includes daily breakfast for one, but also has the option for two cocktails per day. This is in place as an alternative for the elite community that may choose breakfast as their welcome amenity. We're looking forward to sharing an even more pleasant experience with you soon. Thank you again and have a wonderful day!
