This hotel is a gem on the Upper East side. Small, personal, with wonderful rooms and roof deck terrace/bar for guests. Also attached to a nice bar on one side and Cafe Boulud on the other. Service attentive yet discreet.

I recently met friends for drink at The Surrey Hotel's roof top lounge. We had a great time and enjoyed the beautiful view. Everyone was real nice. Our waiter Labi was so nice and friendly! Can't wait to go back.

The Surrey exceeded all of our expectations, we would definitely return next time in New York. Location is excellent, staff exceedingly welcoming, courteous and efficient. The room was first class, very large, a beautiful bed with top quality linen and fabulous views.

I traveled in June with my mother and was delighted with our hotel choice. The staff was fantastic, friendly and incredibly helpful. I even called and spoke to the concierge in advance of our arrival and he was very helpful in answering my questions. The room was large and very well appointed with wonderful beds/pillows. Very walkable to the park,...

We have been to NYC many times and stayed to the most prestigious hotels closer to Central Park for the view and residential areas to avoid too many tourists. We didn't get chance that time for a reservation during our stay in Manhattan as unfortunately the hotel was fully booked. So we decided to experiment what this hotel was about...

The Surrey is one of the best hidden treasures in NYC. The staff made us feel welcome and we were pampered by their hospitality. The location is just a few blocks from everything, a short walk to Central Park, all major museums and to midtown. The rooms were very comfortable and very spacious bathrooms. Cafe Boulud was exceptional! We will...

I've stayed at the W, Bryant Park Hotel, Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental and think this is my new favorite. It's a smaller boutique hotel which I really enjoyed. No huge lobby, mass of tourists like Mandarin. Quiet but luxurious and chic. The room we stayed in was beautiful and spacious. My only complaint is that we didn't have a...

Just the most amazing stay I have had in quite a while. Worth being on the upper east side near shopping and museums. Excellent service, from the Bellman Brian who was most informative about all things local. The GM Troy Pade is a gentleman and a consummate professional. Linda at the Cornelia Spa, was an amazing masseuse --- that experience...

This is a great location. Great staff, clean and friendly. Easy to get a cab, close to the Metro. Great dining within walking distance. The concierge was the best we have ever encounter, nothing was a problem, as this was our first trip to New York we had many questions and her recommendation were so helpful. We would definately stay...

This was our 4th stay at The Surrey Hotel and each time it has been better and better. The check-in staff went out of their way to help and asked if we had any special requests. Our room was beautifully appointed with plenty of towels and bathroom amenities. It was immaculate and well maintained. The Staff was most welcoming and...

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
