I've stayed at the W, Bryant Park Hotel, Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental and think this is my new favorite. It's a smaller boutique hotel which I really enjoyed. No huge lobby, mass of tourists like Mandarin. Quiet but luxurious and chic. The room we stayed in was beautiful and spacious. My only complaint is that we didn't have a...

Just the most amazing stay I have had in quite a while. Worth being on the upper east side near shopping and museums. Excellent service, from the Bellman Brian who was most informative about all things local. The GM Troy Pade is a gentleman and a consummate professional. Linda at the Cornelia Spa, was an amazing masseuse --- that experience...

This is a great location. Great staff, clean and friendly. Easy to get a cab, close to the Metro. Great dining within walking distance. The concierge was the best we have ever encounter, nothing was a problem, as this was our first trip to New York we had many questions and her recommendation were so helpful. We would definately stay...

This was our 4th stay at The Surrey Hotel and each time it has been better and better. The check-in staff went out of their way to help and asked if we had any special requests. Our room was beautifully appointed with plenty of towels and bathroom amenities. It was immaculate and well maintained. The Staff was most welcoming and...

Loved this place. Right next to Central Park on the upper east side. Rooms are expensive but it is manhattan so what do you expect. Rooms beautifully decorated and in pristine condition. All the staff were super professional and equally friendly. And even though they thought I was Australian (I'm from London) I'm willing to let it slide. Would defo...

If you want a wonderful escape from all the noise and commotion of Manhattan than run to the Surrey. A elegant hotel located blocks from central park. The rooms are well decorated. I found the rooms to be quiet from the noise of traffic as the Surrey is located on a quiet street. The rooftop is beautiful. Well located. Definitely...

This is a really nice hotel that stands out in a place surrounded by hotels! The staff were really friendly and really helpful and the hotel itself is perfectly located just off Central Park. The rooms were really nice and the roof terrace is so picturesque. I would advise and I will be back.

We were as thrilled with The Surrey the second time as we were the first. I have already recommended it to several doctors who frequent New York for vacations. The treatment is above and beyond expected from an establishment. The caring IS genuine from your staff at every level. Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing stay! e will be back!!!!

This is my 5th multi-day stay at the Surrey. The quality and beauty of the rooms, friendliness and knowledge of all staff members, and concierge services are exceptional. This is very classy small hotel but never feels "snooty". I love the quiet neighborhood versus the insanity of midtown. It is the only place in NY I will stay!

The Hotel really speaks to the heart, mind and soul of the guest.. It is above all expectations, and second to none in my own opinion! It gives a lofty overview of the city that allows for very peaceful moments. The kind hearts of the staff will gain your confidence and trust that you are surrounded by some of the...

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
