I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Herald with my husband and 2 teenage children. This hotel provides fantastic value for money. It is ideally situated in Midtown , round the corner from the Empire State building and Macys. Checking in was very efficient and we were upgraded to a new refurbished room. The room was...

We stayed at the HSH from Dec. 12 - 14, 2007. Location is very good. Room was excellent and the bed was the best. Front desk staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.

This hotel is a real gem. As previous reviewers have said, fantastic, comfortable, beds, with sheets changed daily. Also, plenty of fresh, clean, towels every day in the bathroom. Location of the hotel is great, very near to Macy's. I think a hotel nearer Times Square would have been a bit too much for us. Would highly recommend Le Bon...

The Hotel was as expected in the reviews. Room was Small but extremely clean. Hotel is Old looking and they are currently doing up all the rooms (2 rooms beside us were being done up and finished within 3 days of us being there). Hotel is well located on 31st 5th and is only 3 blocks from Macys (which the...

We've traveled with another couple to NY several times and stayed at Herald Square twice. We booked the remodeled rooms and would highly recommend! Their reception staff was good the first time but has improved since our last visit - more professional. Monica was extremely helpful, polite and accommodating! A gentleman working on the morning we left was also just...

My Husband & I stayed here from Friday, 2nd November for 3 nights. It was our first time to New York so I had booked it upon a recommendation by some colleagues. They had told me that this hotel was very basic but that the location was excellent because a lot of places were within walking distance and more importantly...

With all of the commotion in NYC at holiday time, it's wonderful to know there are still hotels to be found with this level of charm and comfort AND reaonable rates! I'd stay again in an instant!

This hotel has a great location but is expensive for what it is. I had the pleasure of meeting the grumpiest receptionist in the world and we both cut our legs on the pointless bits of metal sticking out of the bottom of the bed. Small room with no natural light which is wierd and somewhat disorientating. There's better for...

We stayed at the Herald Square Hotel for six nights in the beginning of November. We booked through the hotel website 'a standard double room' several months ago and that was the only option available for our dates. As they promised early bookers 'the best room selection' I hoped that we'll be getting a new room (having read the reviews...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

The basement bar will offer classic cocktails harkening back to the days LIFE magazine staffers used this space as their own speakeasy.
