Stayed here three nights in February 2025. We were greeted by friendly front desk staff upon arriving at the hotel. We were initially located in an accessible room, which we had not requested. This presented some problems logistically, as the main room is smaller to allow for a larger bathroom. We presented our concerns and were moved to a standard two-bed room the second day of our stay, which was larger and was perfect for a family of three. Maria at the desk was very understanding about our concerns and made the changes with a smile. Our standard room was very comfortable and spacious compared to other similarly-priced hotels in NYC. The beds allowed for easy sleep, and the shower was hot with great water pressure. We typically stay in midtown but much preferred the Hotel Belleclaire's location on the UWS. There is no shortage of dining options, especially if you consider pursuing options available by the very close subway--either up or downtown. We walked to Central Park, the American Museum of Natural History, and Rockefeller Center, among other places. The adjoining French bakery was nice and we still had vouchers left at the end of of stay. Their coffee was fresh and the pastries were amazing. The bellman was very accommodating and helpful. He is clearly working very hard. He was very apologetic when he was delayed coming up to get our baggage upon checkout, and staff called to let us know he was going to be delayed as he was helping another guest. The main negative from our stay was that one of the two small elevators was not in service the last half of our stay, and this presented some issues as we were on the 9th floor. The wait for the elevators exceeded five minutes on multiple occasions. I think that if this hotel could have had two serviceable elevators running, this would have been a near-perfect stay. I suspect this was an isolated type of incident. We will definitely stay at the Hotel Belleclaire again.

My wife and I flew to NYC for a family visit. We travel there at least twice a year. This particular vacation was fraught with disasterous airline/FAA controllers issues. We were trapped in NYC for an extra week because of the enormous amounts of cancelled flights. We booked the Belleclaire for our forced extended stay due to our familiarity with the hotel (we have stayed there before).
Let me first tell you that we have always enjoyed our stay at this hotel. But, it was quite conforting to know that even though we were stuck in NYC for an extra week, we would be well taken care of by the hotel and staff. The staff, all of them, from management to the regular employees are wonderful.
They are responsive to requests, they help you with transportation and things to do and see.
We also couldnt ask for a cleaner hotel. They really take pride in their appearance and it shows. I mean, come on, this is NYC, the land of tourism! You would think that with that much foot trafffic coming and going, the place would be kind of run down, worn out. I assure you that it is not.
An additionak benefit is the most lovely french cafe in the lobby, yes it does get quite busy, but people like good things so the crowds can grow for the cafe alait and pastries.
The location of the hotel on the upper west side is perfect. When in NYC you tend to walk a lot! This hotel is centrally situated and is walkable to most spots you would want to visit. The subway system is still decent in NYC and this hotel is close to the subway lines. The added benefit for us, is the location to Columbus Ave, Broadway and Amsterdam Ave. Theses streets on the UWS contain so many restaurants and bodegas that you will be able to eat, whatever tye of food you want, whenever you want.
So a quick recap. This is our favorite hotel in NYC! I reccomend staying here any time you travel to th 'Big Apple'.
Kudos to the Belleclaire for this gem of a place. Go, you'll be gad you did.

I’ve stayed at the hotel for one week. The location is great, near Lincoln Center, Natural History Museum and Central Park. It is not as noisy as a Times Square hotel. The area is quiet and tow blocks away from Metro station line 1 or 5 blocks away from Metro stations 2 and 3. Aside from other hotels in NY, they give you a 10 dollar ticket a day to purchase your breakfast at Mille-foullie, a French bakery next to the hotel. Although is expensive, you can get a coffee and a pastry, and the pastries are delicious. The only negative thing is that it is very small and very little place to dine in. You can get your breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant, but between 9 and 10 am it is hard to find a place to sit, I suggest to go earlier. The rooms are well equipped but there is no fridge in common rooms, only in suites. Beds are very comfortable, and so are pillows . There is only one elevator working, if you are lucky and get higher floors, you can always get in but if you are in 4th floor or less, you always have to wait. Elevators are too old and there is a service elevator in case of emergency, cause the day the only one working, broke down, we have to use the emergency one. People from reception are very nice and comfy, and I have to congratule Jaelle, Benedict and Mark, that been very nice and helpful with me. I had a problem with the tidy up room service, that for two days in a row, they forgot to come in, and people from reception come up with a quick and helpful solution. I love New York, and this time was my fifth visit, I definitely will come back and come back to Belleclaire. Have a nice Holidays and happy new year!

PROS: The hotel is not bad and is in a convenient location very close to metro line 1 which takes you everywhere and a stone's throw from Central Park. The area is very quiet, there are some clubs and restaurants nearby. The rooms are not very large, we had a double queen. The staff is very kind. Breakfast is included, they give a daily voucher of 10 dollars to be used in the bakery attached to the hotel (be aware that with 10 dollars you get a coffee and a croissant). Daily cleaning/towel change service.
CONS: only one tiny lift for the entire hotel (the other one out of service) with endless queues to get up. Very long queues for breakfast, which is good but the staff are very slow and the place is microscopic. The hot water arrives after a quarter of an hour (if it arrives), at least for us who were on the eighth floor. The wifi works intermittently (remember to deactivate the data because when the wifi is disconnected otherwise it will be painful). One day they didn't make up the room and when we pointed it out to them they said that the maids had already left.

The room was compact and comfortable. The room was at the end of a short hallway with 3 doors so it could be every load with folks coming and going, but not all rooms are set up like this. Valet parking was twice the price of self parking at the same location which I thought was excessive. The hotel is perfectly located and I would absolutely stay here again.

-Built in 1901, The Belleclaire Hotel is an icon of "turn of the century" architecture. It's an architectual landmark, and well-managed home away from home. Why?
It's my "Go To" NYC hotel; For over 10 years. The front desk staff is gracious, considerate, and multilingual. Guest services are outstanding: a returning guest is greeted by name!
the hotel rose to the needs of Covid, and has benefited from recent painting and hall carpeting.
The rooms are bright and attended to daily; the beds comfortable, hardwood floors guarantee sanitation, and sound proofed rooms and dark out curtains benefit sleep! Drop down screens attest to upgrades to contemprary needs; wi-fi, temperature control, room service is excellent.
Daily vouchers cover a morning breakfast of pastry at the French Patiserie or can be used for food in the restaurant. at night.
Walking tours, Happy hour, Live music, Delicious food!
Within a half mile the culture of the Upper West Side, plenty of refreshing walks along the Hudson River, or Central Park, or the lively establishments of food and treasure along local streets!
Historic! Chic! Gracious! Accomodating to family, elderly, foreign and domestic, singles to groups, weekend or longer stays.
Transportation is easy and nearby!

The hotel continues to get better and better, upgrading the rooms to where they are luxurious and modern while keeping the art nouveau style. The rooms are free from noise in the hall or on Broadway, the rugs are deep and soft, the blinds are electric allowing you to choose to let in the light and street scenes. The bathrooms are complete with excellent shower, room to place your items and toiletries. There is now a bar with a very pleasant bartender, a small restaurant with a separate coffee stand alongside a french cafe with the best pastries, coffee and macarons. The front desk (hats off to Shanies Hunte) sets the stage for making you feel important by knowing your name and in my case, my history of staying there many times over the years. Thanks also to Benedict and Joelle. They are ready with suggestions and get you whatever you need to make your stay complete. Tours of the area are free and available. I heartily recommend the Belleclaire.

Our favourite roost in New York for many years - an historic building in a terrific neighbourhood that has been carefully maintained. Everything works! And if it doesn’t it is fixed instantly.
The staff is welcoming and thoroughly professional (special marks to Shainies and Maria) and I challenge you to find a better included breakfast than at Mille Feuille, where the croissants are more luxurious than at many bakeries in France. The room service menu at Allure is hip and excellent and as in everything here, reasonably priced in context. And delivered quickly, with a smile.
In a cosmology where lodging is so often impersonal and soulless, the Belleclaire speaks to a warm, first-class aesthetic that is actually affordable for most of us.

It was our first time in New York, visiting from England, and so choosing a hotel is a bit of a gamble. We landed on a gem of hote with the Belleclaire. Its location within a few minutes walking to Central Park is great and there are Subway stations nearby allowing access to the rest of the city. The welcome was friendly and informative. Our room overlooking the street was comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed a coffee and pastry from the adjacent patisserie with our daily $10 breakfast voucher.
The Belleclaire pays homage to its history with great service.

The staff was very friendly, the girls at the reception were attentive and always willing to answer any questions, especially María and Verónica, who were the ones we interacted with the most. It is appreciated that at least one knew Spanish. The doormen are also very friendly.
The bad thing is that most of the time there was only one elevator (one was always under maintenance) and there were also no more common spaces to have a coffee or read (there were tables but they were from the restaurant).
The breakfast was rich, French themed and the voucher served us well. Some days we don't have breakfast so these vouchers could be accumulated, so good in that sense!!
Another thing to improve is the cleanliness of the room, although towels and toiletries were changed every day, cleaning was not done in some parts (toilet, vacuuming the floor).
We also loved the location!!! about two meters, near central park, one micro from times square and the place is very residential and safe. Recommended 🫰

There were no rooftop terraces at the Belleclaire. I don’t think they had balconies either. There is small French cafe beside the lobby with a small patio that has very casual seating for about 8-10 people

We were 4 people so we took a car service (not expensive, especially if you have a few people). Otherwise you can easily take the train from the airport to Penn Station in NYC; there you switch to the #1 subway line (going north) and get off at 79th St., walk south along Broadway for about 3-4 minutes and you're at the hotel.
