This is the second time I've stayed in this hotel. The last time was 10 years ago. I have to say it has improved so much. I liked it the first time around but it was a little worn around the edges. This time the place looked updated and well maintained. The room was clean, warm and had a TV,... More

I was surprised in a positive way by this hotel. It's very clean, the interior looks amazing. The shared bathrooms are clean and were always available when I needed them. No breakfast facilities. The rooms have a functional safe. It's situated in a nice area of NYC, only 8 minutes from the subway trains at Union Square. I spend 7... More

Reasonable price, great location. Very clean and cute with its narrow hallways and darkish design. The feeling that I got was that the personnel didn't really watch too closely whether the people coming in were guests staying in the hotel or some randoms, so it made me feel a little unsafe since the floors were all open and the room... This is a cheap hotel by New York's standards, the hotel has shared bathrooms which I was worried about, I had no problem as they were clean all the time. Location fine and staff helpful. My only complaint would be that the linen which was clean was old and worn otherwise hotel was fine.

Our trip in NY and the whole stay in Hotel 17 was wonderful. Very good location, friendly and helpful staff, clean and nice rooms. The only thing is that it was a little bit cold in our room. We enjoyed our time there.

We stayed at Hotel 17 for 1 week towards the end of October 2016. Location-wise it’s great, on the pretty 17th Street and about 8-10 mins’ walk from Union Square, which is in itself an excellent area in where to base yourself in order to explore Manhattan and beyond. Check-in was straightforward, our room was on the top (8th) floor,... More

My own approach to a hotel in a destination like NYC is that I don't expect to spend much time in the hotel room; there's far too much interesting to do elsewhere. Hotel 17 was a great base for the trip, on a charming block, and fit well with our budget and time constraints. This hotel was clean, well maintained,... More

We stayed at the hotel 17 in late October 2016. We knew that the facilities were shared but there is little redeeming about the hotel, so we used it purely to sleep in as there is so much to do in New York. The rooms were small and evidently hadn't been decorated in a long time, the bed was very... More

Context: a retired minister and semi-retired public school teacher from the Midwest visiting NYC for the first time. We were a bit apprehensive @ sharing a bathroom, but it turned out to be no problem with re. to cleanliness or availability. There was a sink/mirror in the room which solved the "I-need-to-get-in-there!" morning rush. The place is a beautifully restored/kept... More

I will not visit here again. I must've missed the fine print that this hotel has a SHARED restroom. The rooms were small. Clean but creepy. I hate hotels with hidden pillows... always suspect to me. We slept with the lights on LOL. We could not adjust the temperature and it was cold outside, thank God for the blow dryer:... More
