This is the second time we have stayed at the Wolcott. The location is great – just around the corner from the Empire State Building and close to Penn Station. The price is very reasonable for New York and includes a very basic breakfast of coffee and muffins which is served in the beautifully decorated foyer. We had booked a... More

As I'm sure you're all aware, decent hotels in the city that never sleeps are not cheap. Therefore it was a great surprise and pleasure to find that the Wolcott Hotel although cheap, was also a very good hotel to stay in! The staff are friendly and helpful, giving advice and directions on exploring the city. The hotel and the... More

My husband and I just returned from a 5 day trip to NYC. We chose the Wolcott because of location but were pleasantly surprised by how good the location really was. The Empire State Building is a block and a half away as is Broadway. It was the perfect hub for us as we walk pretty much everywhere although the... More

This (really affordable) hotel is located near everything a normal tourist wants to see and experience in NY. Madison Square Garden, Empire State Building, public library, Macy's and even Times Square are all in the neighbourhood. Room was clean and hotel staff was very friendly. And man, the morning coffee in the lobby tastes like heaven! For those of you... More

I spent a restful night at the Wolcott, thanks to the kind staff who went out of their way to help me when I discovered I'd inadvertently made an online booking error. Instead of charging me an exhorbitant last-minute rate, they undertook to find me a decently-priced room - and all with a smile. Now that's what I call service!... More

I have stayed at the Wolcott on both trips to Manhattan. Can't beat the location - midtown a block from the Empire State Building and walking distance to the Broadway plays. Considering its location and historic charm, the cost is extremely reasonable and the free muffins every morning are an added bonus. You hear languages from all over the world... More

The location of Wolcott Hotel is perfect, just behind the corner of Empire State building. Time Square and many sights are within walking distance. We had a 7 day accommodation there in the beginning of June 2012. Our room was twin room with own bathroom and shower. Both room and bathroom were spacious. Wardrobe, huge TV, kettle, safety box, radio... More

Have been here two years ago and only had one wish when travelling back to New York: get a room in Wolcott. It's a low-budget hotel at a great location. Subway station Harald Square is just two minutes away, the rooms are more than ok, don't have bed bugs (!) and Wolcott offers a concierge service that is willing to... More

The spectacular first impression of the Wolcott is of course the magnificent grand staircase in the lobby. Today the Wolcott is a midestly priced hotel for tourists who still want a little class. The rooms are all one would want, the ambience isn't budget. For the money ($200/night for a double room) -- remember, this is New York City --... More

I stayed in Hotel Wolcott with 9 female friends for 1 week in April 2012. The hotel lobby is striking and well maintained as are the corridors leading to the bedrooms. Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

“Excellent location between 5th Av and Broadway would not stay anywhere else in NYC. Single glazed windows make for noisy mornings as expected with continuous construction and traffic so if you are a light sleeper this could be problematic but otherwise excellent value for money and location. Bed and Breakfast consists of tea, coffee and a baked muffin in the Lobby but 2 minute walk is a pharmacy that sells fresh cut fruit and cereal which we chose most days. Closely located to subway stations i.e. Penn station where you can buy a railcard for $21.00 this can be used for up to 4 people and is ideal for getting to and from sight seeing attractions up and down the city.”
