As a designer I have high expectations from a hotel. However I'm married to a mechanic who likes it simple & not pretentious... The Roger met all those demands. $30 breakfast was a bit steep, but it is NYC. Also I wish the bar was open longer.

Hotel with good location, good facilities, but price of high services, not adequate with the quality of them. The heating system in the room is noisy and does not give enough temperature comfort. With some upgrades, room air conditioning and breakfast prices, I would be in the group of hotels to choose in the future.

It was very hot one night in the hotel room and AC wasn't helping. Also one elevator was broken on Sunday and my husband had to walk down 8 flights of stairs with his suitcase bc of one crowded elevator

We stayed in a corner suit on the 12th floor - excellent views of the city and no road noise. The hotel was excellently placed to walk to many of the famous attractions. The staff were most helpful, from the doorman to the reception staff - tips, ideas and advice was most appreciated, as was the complementary tea and coffee...

Charming hotel in a great location. Rooms are gracious by NY standards. Intimate lobby and lounge area with a great assortment of small bites and hand-crafted cocktails. Professional, courteous and friendly service. Will definitely stay there again.

The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The bathroom was on the small side, but not the smallest I've seen in an NYC boutique hotel (and I saw the bathrooms in rooms of my coworkers, and they were both bigger, so it depends on the room). The bed was very comfortable. There wasn't any kind of dresser to unpack my...

Having visited New York four times before this last visit we have not been particularly impressed with the hotels. They seem to be overpriced and tatty. However we were pleasantly surprised with the Roger. Yes, as with all other New York hotels, the rooms are small. The bathroom is particularly small, but the staff make up for this as they...

I had a fantastic time at this hotel, the staff were so lovely and friendly and the room was super clean. Location was right next to the Empire State and so centrally located to get everywhere easily in the city.

I have really enjoyed staying at the Roger. It is a well appointed, clean, modern hotel with a friendly staff. We arrived a little earlier and they were able to get a room for us quickly. There were a couple issues on this trip however. First the toilet apparently had an issue and would fill every 2-3 minutes which was...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This June, The Roger is unveiling a sophisticated new look after extensive renovations of its public spaces and guest rooms. Standing at the crossroads of uptown and downtown off Madison Park, the new Roger is a marriage of chic design and old world comfort, while continuing an unyielding commitment to superior service. The fresh aesthetic of the Roger’s public spaces is curated by hospitality guru Steven Kamali and designed by the notable Anna Busta. A collaboration of renowned talent has distinguished a transitional hotel that caters to the demands of the modern traveler and local tastemakers alike. The vaulted lobby lounge provides an ideal space for any time of day or occasion, from morning business meetings to lunch with family, or catching up over cocktails with friends. To update the spacious guest rooms, the Roger tapped Annette Jaffe of MSM, whose timeless original design has kept travelers returning year after year. Jaffe’s new rooms are characterized by lush custom pieces and applied moldings to naturally compliment the historic building’s unique rooms and inviting terraces. Whether for only a night or a weeks long stay, the Roger is the savvy traveler’s home away from home. ... more   less
