By far this is my favorite hotel in Manhattan. Not only is it in a great location (just a few blocks from Grand Central), it's also affordable, compared to some high priced hotels in the city. Although it doesn't offer a fitness center or restaurant, they offer round the clock refreshments in the lobby and a happy hour bar. Rooftop... More

Staying at the Roger Smith Hotel in midtown Manhattan was a delightful experience that gave us a nostalgic glimpse of life in slower, less frenzied, and more personal times. The lobby is small, simple and comfortable, and the "Junior Suite" spacious, well-appointed and quiet (except for some traffic noise which goes with the territory). Value is good and location is... Another pleasant stay at this mid-town hotel, good-sized well- appointed rooms and lovely friendly home from home atmosphere - the staff could not be more welcoming or helpful. I will definitely stay again next time in New York. Thoroughly recommended - for business or leisure.

You will be hard pressed to find another hotel in Manhattan that offers the space, the convenience, and the top level service for the price. From the free yogurt/granola and green apples in the lobby, to the beautiful "old school" rooms, and the central location, it is fantastic. I have stayed here several times when I visit NYC for business, and... More

You cannot beat the location. Our suite was very clean and comfortable. I loved that we could walk into this hotel in our fleece and jeans after a long day of being tourists and not feel like we were unwelcome or didn't belong there. It felt like the NYC hotel of my childhood. We will return.

The Roger Smith hotel is a delightful place to stay. The customer service is outstanding and the facilities are lovely. It's location is easy to manage all your tourist activities; walking distance to Grand Central as well as very close to an E train and 4, 5, 6 lines. Surrounded by interesting boutiques and conveniences such as late night pharmacy... More

We enjoyed another wonderful weekend at the Roger Smith. Staff was wonderful - friendly, quick, and efficient. The room was clean and neat. The grab and go breakfast is all we needed to get the day started. We will stay here again.

Enjoyed our one night at the Roger Smith. The quirky and unique art set it apart from your vanilla chain hotel. It seems from other reviews written recently that not all the rooms have been updated yet as shown in the official photos, but thankfully our room was, and it was attractive and clean. Our two complaints were that the... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
