This is a well-situated hotel if you want to be in Hell's Kitchen or the Broadway district. The rooms are relatively comfortable, although the mattresses are of average comfort. The room is average sized for New York, and the bathroom is serviceable. The hotel feels pretty well-kept up and I liked the boutique design. The service is erratic. Maid service...

The room was far too small even for one person. More a 3 stars rather than 4 if we consider american standards. No minibar available (a grochery shop is around the corner in case). Breakfast bouffet limited The location is just perfect. Time square is around the corner as well as Rockerfeller Center and the Empire State building is just...

Room good size though bathroom was clean it was a little on the small side with no shelf to put your wash bag. Unfortunately we had several equipment failures - toilet blockage, safe broke, no coffee. All these were fixed promptly by the helpful and polite staff. Also had to have the door card keys reactivated more than once.

The Gallivant Hotel is a very nice hotel for the money. We paid $139 per night which is a bargain in Times Square. Decor is very nice and appealing. However there were a couple of hiccups. The bathroom is tiny, and when we turned on the shower the handle fell to the floor. We had to attach it back to...

We stayed last week in preparation for a trip to Ireland. Hotel was clean and well run. It's an older building with smaller rooms, but considering rates it was good value. Everything worked and the staff were very helpful. We will definitely stay there again.

The Gallivant is one of many hotels in NYC that was renovated into "boutique" status by primping up a solid 1920s building without really upgrading it properly. The lobby looks chic but the fundamentals are lacking. They stupidly installed "European style" showers that lack a curtain and therefore leak onto the floor. They tack on a $15/night "urban fee," which...

Firstly the location of the hotel is fantastic, on 48th Street (3 streets away from Times Square), one Bellman was helpful and sorted us a taxi back to the airport on departure, however, other staff were not overly friendly, hot water was not working on the first day, when I asked I was told it was being fixed- no apology....

Small rooms no view looking at brick walls Terrible customer service no bar even though they showed it on their website. The amount of money paid per night was not even worth staying their may as well stayed in a youth hostel. Would not recommend at all and we have advised our travel agent to no longer use as the...

The Gallivant is located between 7th and 8th on 48th Street. Convenient to Times Square, Fox News, NBC Studios and Rockefeller Center. The hotel was clean, but the bedding was about 2 star worthy. I booked the room through Priceline.com and the otel charges you an additional feed of 15 dollars a day above the quoted rate. The elevator was...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
