The Gallivant Times Square receives mixed reviews on its service, with guests appreciating the friendly staff but expressing frustration over maintenance issues. Its prime Times Square location is a highlight, though the buzz of the city contributes to the noise discomfort experienced by guests. While the hotel's cleanliness is often acknowledged, the outdated amenities and rooms, coupled with additional fees, leave many questioning the value. The overall atmosphere is affected by the loud nightclub nearby and the need for modern updates.

Me & my partner read a lot of negative reviews about this hotel online & my partner wanted to change it, we went and on arrival we saw next door looked like a nightclub - instant fear!!! We went to our room however & we never heard anything, nyc in general is a very loud place so if your expecting a quiet night sleep in any place in the city it’s going to have some degree of noise, the bed was very comfortable, the location for us was perfect, in the hustle and bustle of Times Square, right beside broadway! It was my first time in nyc also! Coffee was always topped up and room cleaned everyday, it’s not the best looking hotel it’s not modern and fancy, it’s just comfortable and warm and a good bed to sleep after a busy stay in the city. Shops surrounding if you need anything, food available everywhere around you so never far from what you’d need the hotel don’t provide, check out was fine also, man watched the bags for a small fee so can have a day knowing luggage is ok, all in all, it gets bad reviews but it’s located in a busy part of nyc and it aids the simple things like sleep and coffee in the morning.

It's a decent hotel, the lobby has a few armchairs and a very long sofa to just hang out on or wait on food delivery or a taxi. The woman that checked me in (she didn't have an American accent) was a little rude and I felt like I was bothering her, I didn't like her. There are two lifts but only ONE works, it seems to be an ongoing thing and it can be very slow and at one stage there were 10-12 waiting for the lift. The room was a good size, it was just me but there would be plenty of room for two. I liked that the floor was laminated wooden effect flooring and not carpet, no stains and it can be kept clean. The bed was SO comfy and one of the pillows I wanted to take home because it was perfect, but I was there for 4 or 5 nights and the bed was made only once, the day I arrived there were no towels until housekeeping left them in at 8.30pm and they were only changed once. The shower only had one door, it was beside the shower head and taps but nothing where I got in and out so water got on the floor, I'm not sure if that was by accident or design. The docking station was for the old 30-pin iPhones and no good for lightning connections, luckily I could use Bluetooth to connect to the TV. The aircon worked but was a tad noisy, but it was 32c/90f so I would rather have the noise and be able to sleep. On the weekend, the bar off the lobby played unnecessarily loud music, I couldn't hear it in my room (the room was fairly quiet) but when I put my head down on the pillow I could hear the bass just slightly. The room wasn't the cleanest, it had dust bunnies and would not pass the white glove test but I don't want to think what a UV light would show up on the bed if housekeeping only bothered to come into my room once, they need to hire more staff for the size of the hotel. The hotel is very central, Times Square is about half a block away, you can't miss it, you can see the big M&M screen from the front door.
Would I stay there again, possibly but it would have to be cheaper than it is. The RESORT FEE scam is $17.23 per night (usually includes the use of wifi) and a $100 per night incidentals deposit.

Let's start with the room, it was tiny as well as the bed, the bathroom couldn't fit 2 people and we could barely move, the furniture had a life of its own, the drawers opened on their own. Our stay was long, 9 days, so this was an inconvenience. The first few days it wasn't very cold so we didn't realize that the heating wasn't working, once we explained it to reception they gave us an extra blanket which wasn't enough. The next morning we asked for a solution and they proposed a change of room, we proceeded with the change and what was the surprise that when we arrived at night tired we realized that the heating was also broken. with which we had to make a third change. But it doesn't stop there, we showed our complaint to the manager and he kindly told us that he was sorry and that they would refund us the amount corresponding to two nights. What was our surprise the next day when we arrived at 9 at night the room had not been cleaned, we couldn't believe it again we had to go down to reception to show our anger and they told us that they were not in charge of cleaning.
Our last day we went to discuss all our incidents with the manager and not only did they not apologize for everything that happened but they told us that they were not going to reimburse us any amount for all the inconvenience. The elevators did not work and we had to take our suitcases down the stairs .
In short, we have had a very bad experience, it is very expensive in relation to the services it offers, it needs a lot of renovation, among others the soundproofing since the disco downstairs is very annoying even though it is on the seventh floor.

This hotel was wildly overpriced even for Times Square - but it was close to the things my friends and I were there to see, and we all have mobility challenges, which was why we booked it. We had no idea what we were in for.

I can confirm the usual complaints others have noted - elevators being out of service/full, housekeeping talking loudly and playing music in the morning, the rooms being small/in poor condition, the shower not being sufficiently covered, etc. (The housekeeping staff were very pleasant and helpful, and I’m an early riser so I didn’t mind them chatting and listening to music while they worked. I’m sure they have a monumental job to do given the building’s many flaws.)

If it had been only those issues, I wouldn’t have minded - but the worst thing was the lack of heat.

My room was ice cold when I arrived. I was assured the heat would be fixed, and it was - briefly. It was still chilly, but I found I could sleep comfortably in sweats. But the heat went out entirely in the night and cold air began blowing into the room. I woke up at 2 am, freezing, and I was told there was nothing they could do other than offer me an extra blanket. After a sleepless night I tried to have a shower and discovered there was no hot water either. I don’t ask for much from a hotel, but heat and hot water are basic requirements! When I complained in the morning, I was told both issues would be fixed and I’d receive a discount on the first night of the room because of how miserable the night had been. When I came back in the evening, the hot water was restored; the heat was intermittent and I was afraid to change the settings for fear it would go out again). Oh, and the discount? $30. On a bill of over $500 for two nights. Why even bother?

My friends had a similar experience, but their room had no heat at all (unlike mine which had it occasionally). They had to move to another room - but to do that, they were told they had to check out at 11 and pay to store their luggage during the day! Not even the slightest acknowledgement that the hotel was failing to provide the most basic of services that we were paying for!

Dont believe everything bad you read!
Check in was seamless, staff were friendly and guided us where to go to our room, bed was slightly small so we requested to change to a twin room, this was resolved within minutes and room was lovely and clean with a fair amount of space, was on a higher floor so room was slightly warm.
The hotel is slightly dated and in need of a lick of paint but this is reflected in the price.
Location is 100/10 absolutely amazing and a stones throw from the main part of times square and some fantastic restaurants around the area.
Room was cleaned daily and housekeeping staff were lovely.
Can be noisy at night as to be expected in a city centre but earplugs solved the problem and beds were really comfy.
Check out was easy enough, taxi to the airport was organised well by the staff and they offer a bag holding service so we could venture out while we waited for it.
Would definitely return to this hotel, excellent value for money.

This is my 2nd visit to The Gallivant Hotel. Times Square. We loved every moment of our stay here. Warmly greeted on arrival and check-in was quick and easy. The Hotel is in a perfect location just off times square. Our room was on the 4th floor it was spotlessly clean. Fresh white bed linen, towels etc. The bed was very comfortable and there is also coffee making facilities in the room.

Our room was so warm and after contacting reception to ask if they could adjust the Air-conditioning so that our room was at a nice cool temperature this was done immediately. It was great to come back to a room that was cleaned daily, fresh towels and bed changed, the attention to detail by housekeeping was above and beyond what we expected.

The room also had a uk plug extension with USB ports which was great for charging multiple devices at once. On departure your luggage will be looked after securely for €3 per case on departure.

All in all I would highly recommend The Gallivant Hotel for value for money, cleanliness, comfort, location and the staff who will go out of their way to make sure you have a great holiday.

We think this hotel is best for affordable price in the heart of Manhattan: Times square (2 min), Central park (10 min), subway station 50st (4 min), between 7th and 8th avenue and you can very easy hop anywhere without any problem. Food in 100m circle is countless. The room was on 12th floor and exceeded our expectation. There was nothing wrong inside: clean sheets changed every day, comfortable bed, good shower with warm water, enough space for 2 guests, clean room, free filter coffee... In earlier reviews people mainly complained about lifts, but after 4 days, we have never been waiting lift more than 3 minutes, any time of the day. Our favourite receptionist Sunny was best ever.... helpful, kind, always smily...
Next time in NYC will be Gallivant guests for sure!

We have stayed 5 nights in this hotel and it was really good. I was very afraid because of all the comments I had read and nothing to do with it, quite the opposite. The elevators do go a little slow, but nothing that can be endured. The room was clean and comfortable, the shower pressure was very good but they would need to put a larger screen to avoid getting the entire bathroom wet. Hair dryer with power.
And what yes, is that there is some noise, but of course, you are in the center of Times Square, so it is normal. You can endure it and sleep well. Of course, we were on the 11th floor.
Even so an 8, we would return for sure, quality price and excellent location

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and were shocked when we got to our room. The room wasn’t as described on the pictures or the one we booked. It was very small and very dirty. Furniture was falling apart. The blinds were rotten and broken. Just about open the window but had to use a cup to keep it open. Plastic cups that leak and no spoons for your tea or coffee. The radiator was broken and blowing out very hot air, which meant the room was constantly hot. The shower was freezing and the head of the shower even fell off!! Everything was dusty even the floor were dirty. We did ask to be moved but the reception staff was very rude and said we had to wait. The next day we eventually got moved to the room we booked which was much bigger but still very dirty and dusty! We were only given 2 towels knowing there was 4 of us in a room. We couldn’t ring down to reception as the phone was broken which meant we had to keep getting the lift down and keep asking for the Extra towels. The lifts were a nightmare one wasn’t working so had to wait 10 mins for a lift one day! There was works going on outside and workmen constantly up and down. The Views are rubbish, from our room you see brick wall! This hotel needs a lot of work inside and out. It should be shut down and should only be rated a 1-2 star rating . If you have booked this hotel cancel it and book so where else. The only good thing about this hotel was the location.

My recent stay at the hotel was a bitter experience. The hotel itself is great, with a small but functional room. However, I missed a fridge bar. The location is a high point, being just 100 meters from Times Square, which makes everything more accessible.

Unfortunately, the experience was compromised by an unfortunate decision by the administration: the installation of a boat on the ground floor. The music starts punctual at midnight and only ends at 5 a.m., making the walls tremble and making it impossible to sleep. Even with the incredible location, a poorly slept night is not something I can accept, and therefore, I do not intend to stay here again.
