The lovely lady on the front desk was friendly and helpful, really made us feel welcome. The room itself definitely needs an upgrade on fixtures, but had the most amazing views of the park so who cares! Room service was prompt and tasty. Overall really enjoyed staying here and wasn't too expensive.

I stayed at the Essex Hotel before it became a Marriott Hotel and back in the day, it was a hotel of distinction. Last month, we stayed for a 4-day weekend. The location is as good as it gets - directly facing Central Park and walking distance to sights and subways. The small lobby still has beautiful art deco architecture...

The service was okay but the restaurants service was horrible. Go to the Ritz or St regis instead. Was not worth the money! Our safe kept breaking, they didn't do anything to fix it. They just kept unlocking it with the key since the safe couldn't remember the pin we set.

I'll never come here again. The hotel at first glance is nice, but upon arriving at the room, the carpet was dirty, the minibar was broken, and overall it just had an unclean feel to it. I went down to the (very) expensive restaurant and service was really bad. The waitstaff treated me as an afterthought. They got my meal...

This was our first time staying at the JW MArriott in NY. We had a great time. Peggy and Kelly made our stay wonderful. We also had our dog, Morgan with us that had the best vacation. The staff made him feel very loved! It was wonderful to be across the street from the beach and to have a restaurant...

Have stayed here during my last 3 visits to NYC. First time was when this place was owned by Jumeirah and it was outstanding in every aspect. Since JWM have taken over I feel that the standards have dropped a bit and for the prices they charge I dont feel that its value for money any more. Location is superb,...

Have never stayed in a hotel in NYC that had no bar or no restaurant available to a guest every evening we were there All of their areas were rented for private functions. No compensation offered for this incontinence and the bar, that friends recommended, was primary for our choice of this hotel. There is less view from room than...

What could be more tony than a Central Park location? A good location with a good staff. This place is halfway there. The ice machine on our floor was broken. We ordered ice thrice before it arrived, shortly after hell froze over. The bellmen were way too busy chatting with each other to hail cabs or give directions. The room...

Okay, okay, we chose to come back - mostly because our earlier complaints were about poor service (and a generally tired room)...and as a Marriott Platinum member looking to redeem points it was this or the new Marriott Courtyard near the park for the same amount of points. I wish there were other Marriott options/properties on the West Side near...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
