We saw a review in the New York Times, and all our expectations were fulfilled, love the space, great looking room, and great service, huge, clean, and in the best location, will come back and back.

We stayed in the Madeleine Suite over New Year's after reading the New York Times review, checking out the website and reading the TripAdvisor reviews. We released our reservations at a nice Upper West Side hotel on the strength of these recommendations. When we first arrived, we were surprised that the room looked nothing like the picture of the Madeleine...

We had a nice holiday, "Stay the night" was a positive place to stay, a great area as it wasn't touristy. Quiet, well-equipped and confortable. Just one thing: you must know that there's no front desk (it was difficult to find someone when we arrived).

I stayed at Stay the Night in "the apartment" at the end of Sept. 2007. I was meeting up with a friend in NYC and were supposed to meet up with Nick (the manager) so he could give us the key, but we were both late coming into town and he was nice enough to leave us the key in...

I lived in NYC for 10+ years, moved out last year and have now discovered this place for those times when I need to come back. Wonderful! The fact that it's in a proper Manhattan townhouse really helped reinforce the authenticity of the experience. So much more charming and personal and Gothamesque than some chain hotel. Huge ceilings, large closet,...

We rented two guestrooms on the top floor. The rooms were very clean and equipped with all necessary gadgets plus lots of paper supplies. Location is superb. We were lucky and parked our car next to the entrance. Matresses are firm, the linen is clean. Very quiet. $400 for two nights for four people - who can beat that?

I've just come back from NYC after staying in guest room number 2 in "Stay the Night", which really added so much to my trip in NYC. The room is lovely - large and airy, with a very comfortable queen sized bed, large windows and all the comforts such as a large fridge, a TV and a microwave. It was...

My girlfriend and I stayed in the top floor "Apartment," and we had a very pleasant stay. We were met by a VERY polite lady who explained everything thoroughly and even carried one of our heavy suitcases up the flights of stairs! The apartment itself was very spacious and clean, and it had all the conveniences of home (cold a/c,...

I loved the whole experience. The rooms are in a five story turn-of-the-century brownstone that was once a grand private home. My room, Guestroom 2, was on the top floor. If I can traipse all over Manhattan all day surely I can climb three flights of steep stairs. The room was huge, with two big sunny windows facing south to...

I booked the brownstone for a family stay. We stayed in all the rooms except the fox. Frankie is very nice and polite and a hard worker. The biggest problem for us was being able to contact someone when we needed something such as towels or toilet paper. Luckily we were able to rob from each others rooms. The key...

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.

“I have stayed in the Barnes Suite, Fox Suite and Madelleine Suite ~ Rooms at the back are much quieter.”

“Chose a room from the web-site as some face the street and others, the rear of the building. The guest rooms are over several floors reached by one, two or three flights of stairs.”

“We were there in the winter. Heat in the suite comes from always-on old fashioned steam radiators. You titrate the heat in the suite by opening and closing the old windows, and by varying the opening of a skylight in the kitchen area with a long aluminum pole. I got pretty good at it after a few days!”
