My best friend and I recently stayed at the St. Mark's hotel. Basically I decided to stay there based on location, price, and positive reviews. The location is great. It is a block from one subway station and two blocks to another station. The street it's on is full of restaurants, bars, and shops. Right below the hotel is a...

I agree with other reviews here: decent and clean place with unbeatable price-quality ratio: a double room with taxes only 150 USD per night. The room I had was fine for one person, but would have been smallish for two. However, I guess this place is choice mostly for those who only need a place to sleep and look forward...

We stayed at the St. marks hotel for the 4th of July weekend. I was very happy with the room. It was cleaned each day and the people at the front counter were very nice. For $150 a night which includes taxes it can not be beat.

Well my friend and I stayed here having filtered some of the reviews on here and have to say it was great. For $170 a night (all taxes and everything included) - we stayed 5 nights - we had a decent (for New York) sized room with 2 double beds in it and ensuite (if you looked out the window...

Stayed at St Marks for a Spring Break trip. Compared to other hotels in Manhattan priced at over 250 a night, St Marks was a steal. I anticipated getting what I paid for, but was pleasantly surprised. We stayed there 4 nights and never had any problems with prostitutes or anything like that. Our stay was nothing but nice. The...

After having read some of the reviews dealing with prostitutes and stuff, I was hesitating to book the St. Marks Hotel in NYC. But was pleasantly surprised as the hotel was more than okay. The room (= single room) was not very big but ok with flat TV, full size bed, very clean and towels have been changed every day....

Was pleasantly surprised by this budget hotel. The best thing is it's location right on the hip St Mark's Place in East Village. Step outside and it's buzzy 24/7. It's not the swishest part of NY but not down and out/prostitute city as some have suggested. The hotel seemed to be full of regular tourists and even families. the reception...

This is a fantastic location for a fantastic price! At $140 per night for a double what you get for your money is unbeatable. First, the location is AMAZING. St Marks Place is full of alternative shops and people, and a great location to be if you want to party. If you're going to spend all of your time in...

Stayed in the hotel one night rather than drive home after a good night and dinner. The room was nice and clean the price was right. The rooms were small but the loction of the hotel more than makes up for the size of the room.

The St. Mark’s hotel has the best price to value ratio of any hotel in lower Manhattan. The rooms are small, but tidy and in good repair, the mattresses are new, the private baths are freshly tiled, and everything is squeaky clean. You will be greeted by friendly and helpful staff who take pride in providing a safe, clean, affordable...

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
