I stayed in the Wanderer's Inn East for 12 days in January. I was very pleased with the service and the price. We had a double bed with my girlfriend, total $75 per night. The hostel was clean and quiet. Breaakfast was great. Only problem was the heating. They turned off the radiator once in a while, because "it was...

This was my first time staying in a hostel and I was very disappointed. Although it was cheap for the location, the room was small, impossible to regulate the temperature and had one ridiculously small shower to share with nine other women. The breakfast was the only thing that made this stay worth the money. I recommend finding another hostel.

I stayed at this hostel for 4 nights in late November 2006. I enjoyed my time there - the 12 bed dorm room I booked was rather small but clean. One big drawback is that the wash basin is IN the room and the mens room and the shower room are directly attached to the dorm so if someone has...

I enjoyed staying at this hostel. It was nice to see a cleaner on a daily basis, who did a thorough clean of the kitchen, toilet and shower. Just around the corner were a couple of pleasant bars, a pharmacy and just a bit futher on 2nd Avenue (between 91st & 94th Street) are a variety of restaurants to choose...

I normally do not stay at hostels, but since it is almost impossible to find a decently priced room in Manhattan, I tried this new experience and I did not regret it. The location is great and the area seems safe. Staff was helpful and friendly and the breakfast was GREAT! I tried the Wanderes West a year later (because...

I stayed at the Wanderer's Inn for a week in one of the dorms. This is an excellent hostel - clean and comfortable, with friendly staff and a great breakfast included in the price (though get there early as it does go quickly!) There are lockers in the rooms, but you need to take your own padlock, and I felt...

As hostels go this was was pretty good. Plenty of friendly people staying (although some of the staff weren't overly helpful) and I definitely felt safe staying there. The rooms were kept clean, and although not very big are fine if you don't plan spending much time in it. The breakfast provided was pretty good, although the common room was...

My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights at the wanderers inn hostel, in a private room in July 05. We chose the one with bunk beds oppossed to a double as they have their own shower and toilet facilities. After seeing the size of the room though it makes sense as to why the doubles haven't got space for their...

I spent 10 days here in November 2004 and thought it was great for a hostel. The 4-bed female dorm was plain but cheap and clean! Breakfast is a bonus. The friendly staff also have a DVD and popcorn in the common room on Tuesday nights, and pizza on Wednesdays. The hostel was generally rather quiet but there were usually...

Stayed here for about 10 days in October. Definitely got my money's worth. Breakfast in the morning has got bagels, muffins and cereal, milk tea and coffee, fruit. I've seen them refill the bagels and muffins on about 2 occasions. Bed is very comfy compared to one other NYC hostel i've stayed at. What i didn't really like was the...

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
