Unhelpful staff; small, cramped rooms; shady looking bathrooms and bloodstains on the toilet door. Still want to stay there? I'll also mention its complete lack of atmosphere and steep narrow stairs where the railings are held together by duct tape. Only positive is I didn't get bed bugs. We were supposed to stay there for 4 nights in a private...

I stayed here for 5 nights just recently. Here are som pros and cons: Pros: - GREAT location - Close to a Subway (23rd street and 18th Street) - Very Safe area - Rooms are very clean - Toilets and showers are very clean. - I had a private room with shared bathroom but there was a sink in my...

This place is ideal, because you don`t go to NY to stay in your room, you go to party and shop and socialise. This is your basics, bed and sink, with shared showers and toilets on each floor, all kept very clean and the showers are great. Its cheap as chips and smack bang in the middle of manhatten.

From the reviews on this site we were worried about this booking. However, we were happy with our 7 night stay. Yes the room was very small, only room for 2 single beds end to end, a locker, some shelves and a sink & mirror. There was a shower and toilet on the same floor though. Everything was clean and...

I arrived in New York after a long day travelling from London. When i arrived there was no obvious enterance, so after walking around with my luggage, stopping about 5 passerby's on the street i finally found the way in..The staff were not overly friendly or helpful. After paying my money i recieved a key which firstly would not let...

I expected this place to be a lot better than it is. I don't think it's worth the price. The room I'm in (2 single bed room) is tiny and smells really bad. They're supposed to have fast wifi all over but actually it only works in this one room and often doesn't work at all! So then you're forced...

Booked a private room from 9-12 Oct. I had carried some research prior to my trip, and found it to be one of the most value for money accommodation available in NYC. The hostel room exceeded my expectations, having read some of the poor reviews on this site. Everything is clean and no-frills, which met my needs for a private...

I have stayed in this hostel on 4 separate occasions. So it can't be all that bad. However, this is more down to being familiar with the Chelsea area, as well as the prices of rooms being a LOT cheaper on the first 3 occasions. This time around, Sept 2011, a single bed is now $70/night. For this you get...

I stayed there for 4 nights in early September and I have a mixed review for this hostel. This hostel is splitted into a few sections within one building and it is an advantage trying to find the room. The room itself. I traveled with my buddy so i booked one room with two single beds in it. Also a...

Neighbourhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighbourhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighbourhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighbourhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
